The discussion revolves around the Golden State Warriors and their recent performance. They talk about the need for consistency in their lineup and the potential impact of trades and the upcoming trade deadline. They also discuss the coaching abilities of Steve Kerr and the team's lack of a center. Additionally, they mention the potential impact of a recent break in the schedule and the return of Klay Thompson. Overall, they have mixed opinions on the team's prospects. team that needs to get back up in the West. Thunder just took first place in the West. They need to get play back. If he's a consistent player in the offense, if Kaminga gets back to what he was doing at the beginning of the season, if... What do you mean by that? I feel like Kaminga's been better as of recently, ever since he confronted Steve Kerr. Ever since he talked badly on his name. His whole problem with him was it was the game against... I don't remember who it was against, but we were on track to win the game the whole first quarter, I mean first half, and then he gave Kaminga significantly less minutes when he had an amazing start to the game, was consistent in shooting and assists, just playmaking in general, and then he got four minutes in the end of the game and so he couldn't contribute what he wanted to, and then following that, he said publicly that he was not happy with Steve Kerr and the Warriors' coaching. He's been averaging 24 in the last three games. Yeah, because he's gone minutes. And I guess if that style of offense keeps up, with the break, with the rest, with hopefully Klay coming back, I think this offense can take the next step, and I think they're going to address something, hopefully big man, at the trade deadline. Yeah, Kovaldini has really not been confident this year. Last season, I think he had a really great season, and so we expected to have at least one solid person on defense, because we know Draymond Green sometimes gets a little bit aggressive, but I don't really know what direction they would go in terms of defense for that, for Kovaldini. Did you know the Warriors don't have a center on their roster? Like, listed as their position? I'm like mentally going through their roster right now. Looney's listed as a forward. Why? Kalinga's a forward. That's interesting. I think... Because Kovaldini's 60 times. Another thing that I was thinking about was, or I think a lot of people have been thinking about and talking about, is the trade deadline is coming up in two weeks, roughly, a week from... two weeks from Friday. Two weeks from a day. It's February 8th. I don't remember what day of the week it was. But a lot of people have been saying that Jonathan Kaminga is one of the people that should be traded, but I really just don't... I don't agree with that at all. I think he's the future of the Warriors. If you're going to trade away Jordan Poole, who is not doing great with the Warriors organization, but I would argue that he was doing better with the Warriors organization just because he had more leadership, and he wasn't ready to be in a leadership position in Washington. And so, if you had kept Jordan Poole, which was their original plan the whole time, who do you have left after Kaminga? There's Trace Anthony Davis, or whatever his name is. He's... Jackson Davis. Jackson Davis. Yeah, he's been pretty good, but he's a rookie. He hasn't exactly consistently proven himself. Podziemski. Podziemski. Podziemski. Podziemski, yeah. He's also pretty good. I think that a big thing going forward for the Warriors is their coaching, especially now that they're down a coach in the best way possible. And Steve Curry just has not been showing his coaching ability this season. I don't think he's been showing his coaching ability for years, and this has been a player-led team since they were good. I feel like he had to have played some sort of major role for those people that are the leaders, like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson. They wouldn't be where they were without him, and they have to have somebody to look to, too, when they need guidance, and that's the whole point of Steve Curry's role. So if they didn't have somebody to turn to in those times, that was... And if they were less... What's the word I'm looking for? Less knowledgeable than Steve Curry? That's not the word I was looking for, but I'll settle for it. Then they wouldn't have been able to be as successful as leaders as they are. I agree with that, but I feel like all the work that he did was eight years ago. Everything else has been... Since he taught Steph how to be a leader, Klay how to be a leader, Raymond, as much as he is dumb on the court, he's also a leader on that team. I think coaching isn't the problem, it's consistency. I agree, but I think that if you look at their rotations, or their starting five over the season, they will have... He will put a starting five in, and it'll be successful for two games, and then it'll go downhill. I think that they need... They've been workshopping their perfect starting five, and at the beginning of the season, everybody was like, oh my gosh, this stack starting five, Chris Paul, Dreamon Green, all these people coming off the bench. I'm just glad that Chris Paul is going to start it. Their rotation works so much better when he does not start on the court. I think it's kind of crazy the significant downgrade this offense took when they basically traded Paul for Poole. Elaborate. That Poole's the sixth man that can come off the bench and score. Paul cannot do that. I really... Not just being a Jordan Poole fan, outside of him being my favorite player, I think both organizations would have done better without that trade. I think Chris Paul could have been a great addition to the Wizards, just because he's actually somebody that could provide leadership. And he passes the ball. Yeah, exactly. Jordan Poole has gotten better at that. There's been a few games that I've actually seen him improve with that, and have him be less selfish with it. He's been putting up less shots. But I think the more you put him into a corner, the less he tries new things, and so he's just working himself down. But when I watched him play with Steph Curry, he would try new things and workshop what wasn't working. Because he could. He was coming off the bench. And he had Steph Curry as a mentor. He wasn't ready to leave the Warriors. I think at some point in his career, maybe after... Even when Steph retires, he could have been the next sort of mentor there, but he's not ready to be put into a box with Kyle Kuzma and him being the seniority, quote-unquote, of their team. Which is gross. Yeah. And if it was Kyle Kuzma and Chris Paul, I would have liked that a million times more. It could be as awful as they are right now, but I'd still like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Watching Wizards basketball is just painful. It is. The amount of turnovers, the lack of defense. The lack of just, like, effort. Yeah, that's how I feel about the Pistons. That's how everyone feels about the Pistons. But specifically, just no effort. Yeah. Anyways, we'll be back right after this. You're listening to WCC Radio. Welcome back to WCC Radio. Coastal Carolina University student-run radio station. My name is Gaby Redman, here today with Jackson Schottke, Charles Richard Raquel IV, also known as Quatro, also known as Ricky. Just all of it. I am all of it. You have to say the full title. Okay, so in this segment, are you going to drop your social security number? Yes. Ricky almost just broke his chair. My chair broke. Earlier, Jackson, oh, I forgot to mention, Jackson is now joining us. I was meant to be training new students for our radio station, but then our kind sports director, Cole Dennis, came in and relieved me of that duty, so now we're all together. I love you, Cole. Yeah, drop that shout out. Earlier, I was just trying to start the show, and then the calculator app opened like 18,000 times. I didn't even know we had a calculator app on that computer. I just don't know why it happened, so I had to close a million calculator tabs. Ricky is hitting the frat bike right now. So is Jackson now. While I find my questions for basketball, we just spent the last 10 minutes discussing the Warriors organization and just all of it. What are your thoughts? What do you mean specifically? Just all of it. How bad are they? Oh, my original question. How much better are the Clippers? Okay, that's another one of my questions. Anyways, my question for him was coming off of this break, they haven't played in like a week and two days because their assistant coach passed away, unfortunately, and then they just had a weird like five-day break in their schedule for some reason, and so today is their first game back in a long time. Who do they play tonight? The Hawks. Okay. And they have roughly the same record. They've just played more games and lost them. I would say the Hawks will probably take that one if that's what we're discussing at all. But they're coming off of a week-long break. How do you think that's going to affect them? The Warriors specifically? I mean, it depends. I think the younger guys on that team will struggle a little bit because they're probably used to having it at this point. Guys like Curry and obviously the veterans of that team probably won't struggle. They've done it a million times. They've had breaks before. I mean, whenever they've gone to the playoffs, they've been a first seed. They've had a good break to play whoever they had to play. Like for play-in games, like play-in teams like the 10-7 games, like they've had to wait on that. I don't think it will affect the veterans specifically, but the situation on why they had to wait might affect. I think specifically it will help play. Yeah. Okay. Me and Ricky kind of have the exact opposite opinion of you to be completely honest. Okay, okay, okay. Not Ricky. I think we have a mixed bag of opinions in the stew right now. I think that kind of what he was saying, this is going to impact Klay either for the worse or for the better, and it's Klay Thompson. So are you really going to know how it's going to affect him? Absolutely not. He could score a million points in the first quarter and then score none the rest of the game. He could do what he did where he scored 60 points off of what, like 11 dribbles in one game? Yep, yep, yep. That was disgusting. What was that again? I want to say Raptors. I want to say Raptors. Either way, it was one of the most disgusting stat lines I've ever seen in my life. Literally a pool and pop guy the entire game. Oh, for sure. Speaking of disgusting stat lines, Kat? Oh my gosh. Got benched in a 60-point game? That's insane. I mean, this year is the year of the center. If you look at the MVP race, the only non-big man is Shea, and Shea is disgusting. I love Shea guilty, though. Former Clipper. Ricky's got a man crush on SGA. I do. The way he got so excited when you said that, too. He voiced it as you said it. That's crazy. Ricky's just glad to talk to a guy of similar taste. Okay. Oh, Keenarchy. Anyways, I think that how we play coming off of how we, how the Warriors play coming off of this break is really going to determine the rest of their season, or a big chunk of their season. Because they were kind of in a, I wouldn't call it a, it's like a slump for the Warriors, but like a we'll do good for three games and then suck for five games type. That's a slump for that franchise. Yeah. Yeah. Since they've had four rings in the past ten years. Yeah. I agree. Okay. We've talked about the Warriors for too long, which is crazy. Oh, I was going to bring up the Draymond Green suspension, too. Yeah, there's nothing to talk about. Draymond gets suspended all the time. Will it happen again this season? I don't know if it'll happen again this season, but it'll happen in the future in his career. That's fair. That's fair. This is not the last time I'll see Draymond Green suspended. I can almost guarantee. I bet my house on it probably that Draymond will get suspended again. Oh, yeah. I think all Warriors fans would, too. Okay. We're two weeks out from the trade deadline, roughly. What would your ideal trade for your team be? I don't think the Clippers do anything at the deadline. Not right now. The Clippers are too good right now. They're great. Well, as a Bulls fan, which is just depressing to say. Trade the whole team. Trade the whole lineup. Not the whole lineup. Find some way to move Levine. Yeah, we've got to move Levine. The Lakers keep saying they're interested in him, and they have a lot of young guys that we would like, but at the same time, they're probably not what we need. I would like Levine to go. I don't have a team specifically picked out, but a team that has some guard play that they can relinquish to us, maybe one or two guys, and if it's just one guy, I'd want to get a draft pick or two included in that, because the Bulls play too well. They play just well enough that we're not that high in the lottery. So I want draft picks as well for Levine. I think Looch has got to go, but they're not going to ship him off yet. Damar? Damar, I don't want to get rid of Damar yet. I know he's obviously got not a lot left on his contract, but I think Damar is one of the pieces you have to keep, because he's the main guy that keeps sales up, to be honest with you, which would just be good for the morale of the franchise. Like Chicago, obviously, they always have a bunch of people at their games, because it's a sports city. But I think Damar is the one guy that's pulling in the most. I think Ayo Desumu is really good, and I think he could be the point of the future. Not only the point of the future, like obviously Kobe White would be there, but I think him and Kobe White complement each other well. I think Caruso is fine, but I think he needs to go at the same time, because he's not hurting us, but he's also not helping. So there needs to be a lot of guys shipped off, but I know our management, we're not going to do any of that. So I'm just going to see the same team for the next 40 years. And the next four years. The next four years, until everybody leaves, and I'm left with Ayo Desumu and Patrick Williams. When you're left with your own tears. And the best lottery pick you have is the 8th. Dude, I hate being a fan of all of my teams, except for the Atlanta Braves. They're the only team that makes me not want to cry viscerally. That's how I've been, until this year. The O's were awful, the Raiders, yikes. Clippers, so carniv. The Clips have always been an interesting franchise to me, because they always seem to have the pieces, but they never seem to be exciting for some reason. Like, they're good, but they're not exciting, and they don't seem to win the big games, which is probably what makes them not exciting. Now they're good and exciting. Yeah, for now, until we see them in the playoffs. Hopefully they continue. But the West is a gauntlet this year. I mean, you've got the Thunder, who are disgusting. Jokic and his boys are always going to be there. It's just, the West is tough, the West is tough. In the East, I think they're probably the third best team in the East. Yeah. I have them behind Celts and Milwaukee still. For the moment. I don't mind that. I think they're better than Milwaukee right now. I think they are right now, but I think overall I'm taking Milwaukee in the seven game series. And I do think the Celtics are better, but they have no depth whatsoever. It's true, they don't. But the depth that they do have is playing above expected. Hauser is playing way better than expected, which is not shocking, because the Celts always seem to have that guy who's just there to shoot threes. He's doing what he needs to do. I think their starters alone will get them past whatever they have. Plus they have Derrick White off the bench, who's basically a sixth starter. I love Derrick White. Shaved head Derrick White. Shaved head Derrick. Shaved head Derrick White. Dude, shaved head Derrick threw me off to start the season, and I was really mad, and then he started popping off, and I was like, alright. I'll settle for it. Okay, Derrick. It's fine, I guess. Okay. Okay, fair. We got a little off topic. We did. Any traits for the Warriors? Any traits for the Warriors you want to say? Personally, I think there's like a million different directions that they could go with their trade. Something that me and Ricky were talking about earlier was coaching going forward, and Steve Kerr, he thinks that he hasn't played a big role in the Warriors in years. I could agree. I don't think Steve Kerr's a bad coach by any stretch of the imagination, but I also think any coach in that situation that's competent could have easily taken that team where they are just because of Steph's value, Klay's value, Draymond's value. You've kept those three core guys for the past seven, eight years. Yeah. I think if you throw a Doc Rivers in there instead of Steve Kerr, it's probably the same result, if not better, because personally, I think Doc Rivers is a better coach than Steve Kerr, but Steve Kerr obviously has been put into a situation which obviously he has no control of. He got fed a stacked team, and it was just good drafting by the organization, but I could see how Kerr would be not as present in the team stuff. Yeah. What we were kind of talking about is outside of me being a diehard Jordan Poole fan, we just don't think that that trade was the right move for the Warriors. We can get into a little bit more about that after the break. You are listening to WCCU Radio. My name is Gabby Redmond, and we will be back right after this. Welcome back to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University, student-run radio station. My name is Gabby Redmond. Here today with Jaxon Chalky, Charles Richard Rockel, the fourth, also known as Quadro, also known as Ricky. Apparently, my voice is like music to these guys' ears, because they are dancing. Wow. Thank you, guys. Thank you. Thank you. We're just getting into it every year, you know, having a good time. Yeah, having that effect on people, I know. Keeping the vibes up on this. Oh, I don't know if it's you guys who are keeping the vibes. Oh, dude. I mean, spots went up when Jaxon got here. Oh, I think we're a little confused who keeps the vibes around here. Let's talk sports. I'm done with this. I'm done with Gabby. I'm done with Gabby. I can't say that on the radio. Anyways, back to sports. I was talking about directions that I think the Warriors could go in for trades. A weird a weird person that I've seen all over like just forums about who the Warriors could trade for is none other than Kyle Kuzma. And it actually boils my blood. Because why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Okay. But just getting rid of Jordan Poole is the wrong decision. What was he going to do for the Wizards in the first place? What was Chris Paul going to do for the Warriors? Okay. Jaxon, what are your thoughts on Chris Paul and the Warriors? I didn't get the move at the start. Obviously, like a lot of people didn't because especially when he was going to be a starter or when he was a starter and Chris Paul is also aging. He's hitting the end of his career. We've all known this for a while. Honestly, he's been productive but not as productive as obviously his prime. Jordan Poole was definitely going to ask for a lot of money though was another thing because he had just signed a four year contract. Right. But they still have to keep extending and also have to sign contract clause and all that. Plus, they probably didn't they probably knew that their guard play was okay without Poole but at the same time they didn't need to give him up. Also, Chris Paul wasn't the solution. I think he's a better six man for the Warriors. For sure. And Chris Paul could have provided leadership for the Wizards. And so making that trade an extra step was just worthless. I think the Warriors did more of a trade for the name than a trade for the value. Yeah. Oh, 100%. Because obviously the Warriors are a very known franchise but they have to keep the hype about them for certain PR things. But I think Chris Paul was definitely a name signing. I think they were just hoping that Chris Paul would have been in his career but he just hasn't been obviously because he's almost 40 now. He's like 35, 36, something like that. I don't hate him. He fit well theoretically. I don't hate him. I don't hate him. He fit well theoretically with the offense. Some guy that can come off the bench Facilitate. Yeah. Specifically playmaking for the young guys on the bench. But at the same time the Warriors on the bench haven't had a facilitating guard like that in a while. They've been used to the run and gun offense which obviously was successful for them in the past. I don't get to switch up now because not that Curry's numbers have never been good assisting but he's never been that facilitating guard. The offense has always been run through him. So I think that kind of situation where you have a guy who's one of the best of all time as well let's bring in a facilitating guard which in theory sounds like it would help but at the same time that's an extra body that these rookies have not rookies but young guys have to get used to with new players coming in every season and it changes the game and it's not a problem but that's not how that offense has been run for probably the past eight years. When you have two different offenses running at the same exact time it's rough to find consistency and having I feel like having Poole is a lot more similar to having Curry than Chris Paul has been mid for the Warriors and sorry I really got distracted by what I just said to Jackson on the side um I think that he's been mid for the Warriors I think that he really hasn't contributed much more than Jordan Poole would have if he if Jordan Poole was playing like he is in Washington right now and he isn't doing anything. I'm getting through this really fast because I've been talking about the Warriors too much and I'm tired of it. So next question. The Bucks just fired their head coach after a 30 and 13 start. Where do you think they go from here? What do you think kind of what do you think they're going to do? I think they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like they're going to play like
