It's very important to make sure you stay engaged, you do different things, and come on, don't sit in that bed all day. Don't sit in the bed all day. Go out and let's do some stuff. Let's have fun. Okay? Can we do that? Let's do that. Let's try our very, very best to make sure we're staying involved and also, like I also talked about in my other talk show, I feel like it's important to really put yourself out there and learn how to communicate. I talked about that yesterday on my show, learning how to communicate, learning how to talk to people, hold conversations. Okay? So that plays a big part with engagement, engaging with others, holding a conversation. That's very important. Okay? Now, this right here is all about the news, entertainment, events. When you go out to those meetings, bring something to write with, you know, or bring your laptop, tablet, anything, iPad, anything like that, so you can be able to take notes. It's very important to take notes, you guys. Taking notes is great because it shows that you came prepared. It shows that you came prepared. Okay, give me some time to write that down. So before we go on break, I'm going to let this be known. Like I said, it's great. Make sure you stay involved. And so far we have brought up a lot of meetings. I see a lot of meetings that we will be having. So just make sure when you go to those meetings, just a tip, you guys. Bring something to write with because it shows that, oh, she's interested or he's interested and they are taking this serious. And then you also, you know, if you want to remember something, writing it down helps you remember it. Okay, so that's just a little tip. All right, so I will see you all back after the break with News with Kira. Y'all don't go anywhere because great news is coming next and some good events. Okay, so stay tuned. Hello, you're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University Student Radio Station. I am your host, Kira Green, and I am back. Y'all, this kind of feels like the late night show. Y'all know the late night show is giving really late night show vibes because it's a little late. It's a little late. It's a little late. It is. It is. But that's okay because it's never too late for news, events, because we got to stay catched up on the good, fun, and the bad, you know. So, oh, we're feeling really good today. Let's talk about the weather before we dive back into the news and events. The weather for today, we have cloudy conditions. It will continue for the rest of the day. The wind gusts are up for 11 miles per hour. It's been feeling really good today, you all. And this weather, let me tell you, y'all better stay bundled up, wrapped up, even if it's hot outside. You know why? Because that's how you get sick. The weather likes to change it up and switch it up and change it up. But y'all, don't let this weather trick y'all. I'm telling y'all, Mama Kira know, she know best. Don't let the weather trick y'all now because all this hot and cold, hot and cold, y'all know I feel good today. It feel real good. Okay. Now, this is our events for next week because, you know, February is coming up a new month, so I just really covered and focused on the events for next week and the week after, okay, before February. Okay. So, for the ones who just now tuned back in, I will catch you up to date with that real quick. We have the Miss Gold and Black Pageant Workshop. They will be having a workshop 6, 30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Lib Jackson Student Union, Room 201, 100 Spadoni Circle, Conway, South Carolina. Okay. Now, just remember, for the ones who just now coming in, if you did, if I do talk too fast, or if you didn't get to hear the first part of the show when I was talking about the events and everything, you can always go to Coastal Connections to be caught up to date with the events that's going on around campus. Okay. There will be a practice January 29th at 8.15 p.m. at HTC Studio 3 with the Teal Temptation dancers. Speaking of that, did y'all know it's going to be a game Saturday? Ooh, y'all, I'm going to the game. It will be a game and the Teal Temptation, y'all know what I heard? I heard the Teal Temptation dancers will be performing tomorrow, Saturday, at the game, HTC. Make sure you come out. And on the webpage, it says 2 p.m. If you go search up. Come on, I can do it right now with y'all because one thing about me, I like to give credibles, you know, make sure the sources is right. Okay. Let's go to HTC because I want y'all to be able to know how to get information, okay? I want y'all to be able to know how to get information. So we're going to do it together because that's one thing I love teaching, and then I want y'all to know how to do some stuff and be able to get the information you need because that's very important. Okay. So let's see what the game. Okay. Coastal Games. Coastal Games. And then you can go to the basketball schedule. I got to doing it with me? I got to doing it with me because I want y'all to be able to see. It's so easy. Y'all want to know when the games are? All you have to do is go look at it. Yeah. That's what it says. It says that, y'all, Georgia State, okay? And I heard that, yeah, special guests. Special guests. They got the temptation, girls. The Teal Temptations, okay? That's Georgia State. Okay. They will be coming to Coastal Carolina tomorrow, 2 p.m. Make sure y'all come out. Come out. Let's support. Let's support. Y'all going to see me there because I want to come out. I said it's important to get involved. You know, it's important to get involved. It's important, okay? Now, also, we have a CAB general body meeting, January 30th, 7 p.m. at Wall 309, okay? January 31st, 11 to 12 p.m. We do have a professional development meeting, Wall 116. Make sure you come out. And they're going to be talking about how to start a business. I think that's very, very interesting, okay? And also, I mentioned the yoga event, January 31st at 7 p.m. with Chi Omega, okay? January 31st. All right, moving forward, moving forward. And, like I said, if you missed any information, make sure you also go to Coastal Connections. Very easy, very easy, so you can get this information because it's good to know how, when, why, where, okay? Now, we will be having – well, this is for the new information, okay? We will be having Golf Cart Rides with SGA, Thursday, February 1st, 6 p.m., with the Student Government Associated, okay? Let me say it again. Golf Cart Rides with SGA, Thursday, February 1st, 6 p.m., Student Government Associated. Need a ride, okay? Go ahead and write that down if you're interested. All right, then we have E&C, Every Nation Campus, okay? They have a meeting, February 1st at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and this meeting will be in Lib Jackson Student Union or Edwards. A little bit about E&C. The vision is to reconcile, rebuild, and restore the three R's, what it looked like on campus. Now, I actually have been to an E&C meeting. It's a Bible study meeting. And we have – the meetings are usually in Wall. You know, the meetings are usually in Wall. And this one is saying Lib Jackson Student Union or Edwards. So I'm not really sure. I'm not really sure if that's a misunderstanding or something. But, yeah, on Coastal Connections, it says Lib Jackson Student Union. So maybe they're switching up the location or something. But to keep the update, go on Coastal Connections, okay? All right. So, yeah, stay involved, stay busy. February – well, January went fast. February is right next door, you guys. Stay involved, stay engaged. And we have to. We have to because communication is real. We meet people, we meet people, and we meet people, and we learn people. Get engaged. It's important, okay? You're in college. You might as well get involved. You might as well get engaged. You might as well. You might as well, okay? So I think it's very important to have a news and entertainment show and talk about the things like this or the events on campus, you know, because you never know. Y'all ever heard of that saying, it's not what you know, it's who you know? Say it again. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Sometimes it's who you know. You may never know who you may meet if you go out to a meeting, a conference. You never know. So get involved. Get involved. News – we're taking news to the next level because we're getting involved, we're learning each other, we're doing things and staying a family here at Coastal Carolina. Okay, okay, okay. So I'm going to tell you some more information when we get back from the break. But, yeah, you got to stay involved, you know? Come on, we have to. We have to. We might as well. All right, you guys. See you after the break. Hello. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University student radio. I am your host, Zakira Green, and I am back. I'm back with news and entertainment and events, okay? All right, so a lot of great stuff is happening in January. Yes, January. I was about to say February. Time is going by fast. Time is going by fast. So, yeah, a lot of great things have been happening in January. January is almost over. It's the 26th. January is almost over. You know what that means? In the month of January, January, we have so much greatness to still come. Just because January is almost over does not mean stop going out to events, stop joining clubs, stop having fun, stop meeting new people. No, that just means keep going, keep going, keep going, okay? Now, for the next month of February, I see a lot of fun things that Coastal have, events and everything, and I'm going to just wait for that. You know, I'm going to just wait. I'm going to wait, okay? I'm going to just let that be a teaser for you all. Let that be a teaser. Just know, a lot of great Valentine events are coming up for February. Yes, y'all, Valentine's is coming up, and I'll see a lot of good events, okay? I'll see a lot of fun things for February. So, yes, today we cover a lot of, mostly a lot of meetings I see for the end of January. I see a lot of meetings going on, and again, y'all, make sure y'all come out tomorrow. Georgia State Panthers, y'all, come on, Georgia State, come on, Georgia State. Y'all not ready for C2 to C2 to U. Come on, Georgia State. 2 p.m. tomorrow, men's basketball, Georgia State Panthers. Come on, come on, bring it on, because we got this, honey. We got this, honey. One thing I love about my Coastal players, they have integrity, passion, and they just keep doing what it is they love, okay? I love the e-sports. I love the sports, you know? I also see on February the 1st, Thursday, we play James Madison, okay? Then we also play Marshall on the 3rd, 4 p.m., and that's on a Saturday. That's on a Saturday, okay? We also do, oh, I see A.R. State, February the 28th, 7-30 p.m. Okay. All right. So, yeah, I think it's, like I keep saying, getting involved is something that I take serious. I take it serious because, like I said, you don't know who you may meet when you get involved. Getting involved and going out to different meetings with your booklet, showing that you're interested, writing down notes, it's only going to make you better. It's going to only show that, oh, he or she is serious. He or she is passionate about what it is they want to do. I think that it's important to community engage. Now, as a freshman, I remember they had us on a community engagement project. Now, as a freshman, I used to think that was just so crazy. Why are we doing a community engagement project? But then, moving on further down the line as a sophomore, I see that that project wasn't just a project. That project, it was for us to really see and understand that it's important to not just stay in the room in your dorm all day. It's important to go out and get involved. This news show, I can see greatness coming from it. As you all so may know, I do have my other talk show, and that's Talks with Kira. We talk about everything on that show. But with this news show, I see a lot of great, great greatness coming from it. You know why? Because it's preaching and telling how we should just go out and engage. Now, back to as a freshman, I see, you know, that that was a very important project. If I had to choose and pick which was one of the most empowering projects, I would say it would be the community engagement. Because, yeah, it also gets you out of being shy or closed off, not going out. And with the project, it was more so you have to go out, and you have to go get involved, and you had to take pictures, proof that you went to this place. And, for example, one place we had to go to was the financial aid office. And that's a place I go to all the time now. Shoot, we had, you know, I see the purpose of the community engagement project, it was to really show us that these are the things we have on campus, you know, here at Coastal, to show us what we have here and the things that you're supposed to know where they're at. Because if you do need to go to the financial aid office, now you know where it's at, although it was for a grade that we had to go. But now you know where we're at. What's wrong with that? You know where we're at now. Student accounts, right? Right. Mm-hmm. Right downstairs. Downstairs. So I think it's very important to, as freshmen, if you're listening, to pay attention when the professors give you the community engagement project because it also shows you and teaches you the different places Coastal has, the different clubs, organizations. It'll show you all kinds of events that you can go to, you know? News is all around you. Media is all around you. It's all around you. It's up to you to take it all in. You know, it's up to you to do what you want to do with your media, whether you want to receive it or deny it. But I feel it's very important to get involved. And I'm glad with this new show I'm going to be talking about events, helping promote clubs, organizations for people to go out and just join, all kinds of events here. Because February, I see great, great stuff, fun stuff, and I can't wait to share with you all the great, great, fun events that we have. And it's going to be a blast. It's going to be a blast. So make sure y'all stay tuned, okay, for next Friday, 5 to 6 p.m. And y'all, just give in very much to the late-night show because it is dark outside. Nobody is here like on campus, but that's okay. Because it's never too late for news and entertainment. Here with Zakira Green. Make sure y'all follow me on social media, okay, IG and TikTok, Zakira Green. My YouTube channel, Kira Baby, with three Ys. And listen to my talk shows, Talk with Kira. Now, that's Thursdays, 1 to 2 p.m. The times may change, but right now it's 1 to 2 p.m. And I enjoyed my first day talking about the news and the events here at Coastal because I'm all about uplifting, telling people to go out and join this or join this event. Go have fun. Get out the dorm or get out your room and go have fun. And be safe and cautious of your surroundings, but go have fun, you all. And what did I say in the beginning? Stay warm, wrapped up and safe because this weather just keeps changing and changing and changing. But make sure y'all just stay warm and safe, and greatness is coming, okay? Blessings to all and all and all. Have a great rest of the night, you all, okay? See you later with news with Kira.
