They discuss the potential of Kirk Cousins leading the Atlanta Falcons to the playoffs this year. They also mention concerns about his age and previous injury. They move on to discuss the trade of Le'Jarius Snead to the Tennessee Titans and the impact he will have on their defense. They talk about the Titans' offensive weapons and the potential of their quarterback, Will Levis. They discuss other free agency signings, including Xavier McKinney to the Packers and Derek Henry to the Ravens. They also mention Hollywood Brown joining the Chiefs and the possibility of the Chiefs drafting another receiver. Overall, they highlight the impact of these signings on the respective teams. They're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University's student-run radio station. This is Sports Uncaged, I'm your host, Christian Mitchell, joined here alongside by Braxton and Will, as always, in our little Monday time slot. A lot going on, feels like there's been no break between March Madness and free agency, just news, news, news, news. So to stick with that, I feel like we really didn't get that much of a chance to talk about Kurt Cousins to the Falcons last week, a high, high-valuable quarterback going to Atlanta who really hasn't had their options since Matt Ryan retired. Let's start with Braxton here, before we get into everything else, do you think that Kurt Cousins can lead this Atlanta Falcons team to the playoffs this year? In a spot of the NFC South probably being the weakest division, yeah. And also with, again, Drake Linden, Kyle Pitts, B. John Robinson, finally get some use, hopefully, I should say hopefully, with a quarterback that can throw the ball. That's huge, because Ritter cannot do that. What about me, Arman? I honestly think they can, when you have Raheem Morris, Kyle Pitts, Beagum Lodgerson, I think they honestly can bring it to the playoffs. I, yeah, you talked about how weak the division was, I completely agree with that, like who's going with the Saints? The Saints are like one of those teams I just can't stand, and they're stuck in the middle. I'm sure they'll end up winning like six or seven games. I think the only real competition is the Bucs in the division, the Panthers, even if Bryce Young is good this year, are still a year or two away at least, you know. And with Kirk, you know, you give him a four-year deal, a lot of money, he's already 34, and coming off of an Achilles tear, is that a problem? Like, are you worried about that at all? I would. I would be worried because, again, that home, the stadium, it's turf. You know, it's not a good, it's not a good sign of something like that, but, again, it's Kirk, though. You know, Kirk can throw the ball, he's looked better than he has ever before. Like, last season, he was in the MVP run before he got injured. Hopefully he can come back and do it this year for the Falcons. Honestly, I'm a little worried just because we're playing, he's playing on turf and everything like that, but at the same time, like you said, Kirk Cousins has been throwing the ball really well, so, you know. That's just what he does. He's just like, if you're molding a pocket passer, you just, like, look at Kirk Cousins. Yeah, 100%. And, again, Falcons, way better O-line than the Vikings by a long shot. I mean, Falcons is a young O-line, too. They're rebuilding, like, they have drafted the right guys to protect Kirk. Yeah, we'll see how that Achilles holds up. It's the first, like, real major injury that Kirk has suffered, but he's not exactly the most mobile guy. No, you're not. We can take Atlanta after this. This is Sportsland Cages. We'll be back after the break. You're listening to WCC Radio, Coastal Carolina University's student-run radio station. This is Sportsland Cages. I'm your host, Christian Mitchell, joined alongside Bob Braxton and Will. Talking a little bit about the Falcons and some NFL free agency fallout earlier. I'm going to stick with that here in our first segment. Specifically with free agency and a guy who we've talked about a lot on our show as of late, LeJarrius Sneed, me and Will were very vocal about trying to bring him to Philly. A couple Eagles teammates ran on that. Ultimately goes to Tennessee, and I think it's a great trade for them. Ended up being a third-rounder in the seventh-round pick-swap, which is not really anything. It's like a trip at that point. Exactly. But Sneed should come in and be an impact player right away for Tennessee. What do you think? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, 100%. That defense, the defense is already decent. Let's be honest. That defense is already decent, and if you add more secondary, especially LeJarrius Sneed, who was arguably the best cornerback in the league last year, and he proved that even in the playoffs, you're only making the team better. And they're sending that team up for Will Leavis, because clearly, apparently, he looks good. He looks like the guy for them right now. All right. I really like that trade. I've tried it a few times. Basically trading away a third-rounder in the seventh straight for a bag of chips, basically all your costs. And to beef up that defense, I really like that. Yeah. I mean, they really just got an all-pro corner. Like you said, top corner last year. The way he played, especially in the playoffs, and he was just a key part of that really good Kansas City defense, which doesn't even feel right to say, because it feels like they're never good. But yeah, all-pro for a third-rounder. I think they gave him a two-year extension. Not even anything crazy. It's just why that was really the best offer you could get for Sneed. Yeah. Not even a second-rounder. The pick-swap in the seventh, who cares? Some other team had to be offering more, in a way. There's just no chance. Yeah. I just feel like a guy that valuable should not be going for just a third-rounder, even if you have to pay him. But now the Titans look good. I'm not going to lie. I was questioning them. We were talking about this literally just over the break with the Brables firing. But I kind of like the hiring of Brian Callahan. Now they have some playmakers on offense with Ridley, Dehop, and Pollard. Like you said, Will Leavis should be the guy. Will he? I don't know. But what do you think, Will? Do you think Will Leavis and the Titans could deliver this season? Honestly, I'm thinking good. But I need to see how Will Leavis plays going into the 2024 season to see how he plays with the weapons that the Titans have at the bottom. Do you think Leavis can make it work? I think it also depends on Callahan. Because, again, losing Henry, I think that was part of the plan with bringing Pollard in because you're getting more of a receiving back. I think he wants to open up the pass game a little bit more because we all know Titans have been struggling with the pass game for years. For years. When Ryan Tannehill is your QB, you're going to struggle in the pass game. But now you've got Will Leavis and you've got Tony Pollard, who's a receiving back. Now you've got Calvin Ridley, who had a great year last year. And Dehop's still doing his thing. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's all on Leavis. The weapons are around him now. Everything is kind of in his hands. I actually really like the signing of Pollard. Very random. It was only eight mil a year for three years. That's really cheap. That's cheap. And to get a receiving back for a young quarterback is just like, hey, here's this check down. Check down. Christian McCaffrey, man. Exactly. Just making life easier on Leavis. I think that's exactly what it's going to do. Moving forward, with free agency, there's obviously still a couple people out there. Big names. I mean, Odell and Jadavion Clowney are doing their normal thing of not signing until probably the last possible moment. Yeah. But so far, what would you say has been the biggest free agency signing? We'll start with Will here. Honestly, to me, Xavier McKinney to the Packers, also a job here. I take it to the Packers. I really like the signing of Xavier McKinney because when you look at that Packers defense, they could really use their safety last year. And also, Gavin Jordan loves Josh Jacobs. We can throw the ball to him. Run the ball. We'll help that offense explode. Yeah. I really like that take. I really like that take. Derek Henry. Yeah, Derek Henry. I mean, we talk about a team that was already good rushing. The Ravens. Now you got Derek Henry? That is ridiculous. You get one of the best running backs in the league, and that's a new system, too. You get a power back, and then your QB is an absolute unit running? Like, come on, man. But I do have a sneaky pick. Hollywood Brown to the Chiefs might be really scary. Might be. It is really scary because, again, you're literally just trying to get another Tyreke. Don't get me wrong. He's not Tyreke Hill, but he is fast. And maybe he can perform like Tyreke Hill now, you know, with Mahomes throwing him the ball. Mahomes throwing up that moon ball and just have him run straight under. I don't even – like, part of me kind of forgot that that happened. Just wanted to blur that away from my memory, you know. Didn't want to deal with that. Also, the Chiefs will probably draft a receiver early this year. And it's like, can we just get a break? Five seconds, you know. I'm getting bored. I don't want to see the Patriots signing for you all over again. Come on now. Exactly. For me, I was going to say that Derek Henry signing pretty much the exact same reasons. Lamar just is – James Harden thinks he's the system. Lamar is that system over in Baltimore. And his rushing just – there is no other quarterback that can move like him. That's known. Derek Henry, I don't care how old bro is. Like, he's just a tank. He's literally a tank that runs with, like, four or five speed. And I don't think he's lost a step. He still put up about 1,000 this year injured with the Titans behind a terrible offensive line in a scheme that they pretty much knew. It's like, hey, yeah, this ball's probably going to be – Toe in his area. Exactly. Yeah. So, like, I'm just already picturing, like, this read option, you know, between – You can do so many things in the backfield with Derek Henry and Lamar at the same time because you can't focus on one because then the other one's going to show you while they're an all-pro, you know. Basically, as a defense, you have to stop them before they get in the red zone. At that point, because that's dominance in the red zone. It's basically a guaranteed touchdown with Derek Henry and Lamar. You're feeding the ball, you know. And I think this is, like, a direct response to kind of the critiques that they were getting after not running the ball in that AFC championship against the Chiefs. Like, you have Derek Henry and Lamar. You, like, realistically could run the ball, like, 45 times a game. And get, like, 10 plus yards, 15 yards. Yeah, like, over and over again. And that's, like, that's really the way to be at the Chiefs is just don't let them play offense. Keep them off the field. If you've got Lamar and Derek Henry running, scoring touchdowns on, like, six, seven-minute drives, that's just, like, you're shutting the window. You're asking your defense to do less. And even though they lost Patrick Queen, big loss, I guess. But Derek Henry, bro, come on now. I mean, they still got Roquan Smith. And then they could just – they probably will draft a linebacker, you know, because there's still a decent linebacker draft, you know. Bayne Wilson, NC State, he's good. I mean, Roquan Smith's a smart guy. He can help anyone at that linebacker. I mean, he helped Queen a lot. We never seen Queen play like that, too. He was on the team with Roquan. Exactly. Kind of just unlock a younger guy, really. Yeah. Maybe they could do something like that. Exactly. Maybe do something like that with Trotter in the draft. Trotter, too. I would be really upset if Trotter is not an eagle in a couple months. But anyway, as we stick with the draft a little bit, is this the best situation that a first overall pick has ever gone into now with Chicago training for Keenan Allen? So they're going to have DJ Moore, Keenan Allen. Their third – they lost Mooney. I'm not sure who their third receiver would be. But, like, Keenan Allen and DJ Moore, and Swift in that backfield along with Komet, an okay offensive line that they're probably going to continue to invest in. I don't know. I think it's hands down the best situation you could be in right now. Except that coaching staff. Oh, God. That coaching staff is a problem. And coaching staff is a big part. Don't get me wrong. But bringing Keenan Allen in, I mean, I'm taking a lot of stress off of DJ Moore at that point. Because, listen, I know Darnell Mooney just got signed for a decent amount of money. He ain't that good. Okay. I never thought he was that good. He didn't really get open a lot. And, really, all I saw was DJ Moore. Come on. This is like – Kayla Williams has to succeed in this system. A hundred percent. You know? Yeah. I would really like to sign when you bring in – oh, what's his name? I forgot. Keenan Allen. Yeah, Keenan Allen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. When you're bringing in Keenan Allen, when you're upgrading the offensive line, when you're bringing in other players like Yandere Swift, I really think this would be the position for him because you have to be a foreigner. You have to see when the players are trading picks players. Yeah. I mean, they're clearly showing that they're trying to build around him, something I guess they didn't feel like doing with Justin Fields or anything. But when you get Keenan Allen for literally nothing because he's making so much this year, but you can afford to take that on anyway because you're not – like, who are they paying right now? Right. Other than Jalen Johnson, really. Like, who did they extend? Nobody. Exactly. So – and for Keenan Allen to come in, he's just such like a safety blanket receiver. He's always open. Yeah. One of the best route runners in the league. Just send him out there in the flat, give him a one-on-one, and leave DJ Moore on the other side of the one-on-one. You're going to have to pick between the two again, like we were just talking about with Lamar. Not an easy task for a defense. As well as I really like the Swift signing, like we were talking about with Tyler, just a check down out of the backfield. And then even with Roshon Johnson, the second-year Texas running back coming up this year, more of like a bruiser. I think it complements Swift a lot. And for Caleb Williams, you should be a generational quarterback. You're going to a team that didn't even earn the post-several pick. They won, what, seven, six, seven games this year or something like that? Yeah. It's really just all on the coaching staff and it's going to be on Caleb Williams. This is Sports Uncased. We'll see how the Bears figure things out after this. We'll be back after the break. You're listening to WCC Radio, Coastal Carolina University's student-run radio station. This is Sports Uncased. I'm your host, Christian Mitchell, joined alongside by Braxton and Will. We're going to be talking a little bit of NFL free agency before the break. I want to keep that going here. As we get closer to the draft, it still seems so far away. It's about a month, almost to the day, and a month away. And Washington is slated with their starting quarterback being Marcus Mariota right now to trading away Sam Howe. It's pretty evident that they're going to pick a quarterback that is probably not going to be Caleb Williams. I'll start with Will here. If you're Washington, would you rather draft Drake, May, or Jaden Williams? Or Jaden Daniels, I'm sorry. Drake may have been, honestly. It's going to affect you if you don't plan everything. I think he would really succeed on Washington, but I know on Washington, that's all. They don't have the best line on offensive offense, but yeah. Definitely not the best culture, neither. Yeah, 100%. What do you think, Braxton? With their signings, they sign a lot of offensive line. I want to say Drake May, but I feel like that team needs a playmaker. I really do, and we know the Patriots. Drake May just fits in there. And I like Jaden Daniels in a Washington uniform right now. I'll be honest with you. I think it will work for them. I mean, they already got some good receivers. I mean, Samuel's gone, but he's still got McLaurin and Dotson. And then you'd probably take another receiver in this draft as well, because he's got some draft cap as well. And then they kind of set up that defense a little bit. I mean, a lot of veteran guys, you know, if this was five years ago, dominant defense. Yeah, they for sure will win the 2017 NFL. But yeah, I think Daniels would be a good fit. But I also think May. I don't think you could really go wrong with either. Yeah, I really don't want to see Jaden Daniels in the division twice a year. But I don't really think he's Washington's pick. I think Drake May has been kind of the consensus number two for some time now. And he just kind of – Washington hasn't had a quarterback really since Kirk Hudson. It's been a long time, you know. And to get a guy like Drake May that can literally just come in and just be efficient, you know, make the right reads, like that's all they could really ask for. McLaurin is so good. To get him a real quarterback would be like – He's begging, bro. He's probably on his hands and knees like, please, please, please be good. Someone, I don't care who it is, get me the ball, please. And then Dotson, like, he had a down year this year, honestly. I thought he was going to have more of a breakout season. Drafted him in fantasy probably too early. Did not pay out. But he's been – I'm still very high on him. He's a great jump ball receiver. It's really just him getting, you know, separation. But he can make these big, like, contested catches, which is why he got drafted, to really be alongside Terry. I want to see a quarterback, like, actually unlock him and use him properly especially alongside McLaurin where you don't need to force him the ball. He should just be open. Like, one-on-one, give him a deep ball down the seam, he, more or not, is coming up with that ball depending on who's guarding him. Obviously signing some weird veterans like Zach Ertz and Austin Eckler and Bobby Wagner. I don't know. I think they only go Drake Mayhear. I am also just kind of sold on my take that I think Jaden Daniels is going to the Patriots to reset their culture. But I think you can't – he was the Heisman, but I think May is still probably the right pick. He's NFL standards wise. Still questions around Daniels, obviously. I think May is more NFL ready than Daniels. Realistically, I think he's more NFL ready. I mean, we've seen him as a passer. He is extremely accurate. That's what he's known for. And, again, you can't go wrong with accurate throwing QB, especially in this league. And, again, with Dodson, if they draft another receiver or they get another receiver, I think he fits best at the right receiver three, and that's a dominant right receiver three. Because going against cornerback threes, you're not going against the guy. And if you want separation, I mean, Dodson's right there for the three spot. Yeah, I was expecting more of him coming out of the first round. Now, what, two years ago? Yeah, going into year three. But, yeah, in the slot, you get him on a little slot corner and give him a go ball. Like, that should be something he wins most of the time on some, like, T. Higgins-type energy. Right. But, yeah, I just don't know. Washington seems to – everyone just kind of dies in Washington. Washington's a whole mess right there, man. I don't think they can sustain having Jayden Daniels, to be honest. Like, I don't think they're going to be able to scheme around having him. And I think he would just kind of be wasted there. So I'm thinking Drake May goes there just makes the most sense to me, like, logistically. Speaking of another highly-touted prospect, Marvin Harrison, Jr., finally entering the draft this year. Seems like he's been pro-ready for about the last, like, three years now. Where would your dream fit for Marvin Harrison be? We'll start with Braxton this time. I don't want him to go to the Cardinals, bro. It feels like that's so wasted. But I know the Cardinals are probably going to draft him. Or what's best, I mean, obviously Patriots really need a guy like him if they want to trade something else to get another pick in the first round. Like, I feel like they should. Because you need offense. Okay, you got to defense. I mean, Patriot defense has been good for a long, long time. You know, and if I think you trade a big guy, you get two weapons. But I know Marvin Harrison's going to go to the Cardinals, and that'll help Kyler a lot. So I think Cardinals is probably the fit for him right now. I can only really go to Washington. Because if you have Washington and then Drake May, I'd really like to see that paying. Or Chicago, because of the draft program they have. And then you could see Caleb Lewis with Marvin Harrison, Jr. That would be crazy. Yeah. One of the teams that drafted quarterback also trades up and stays in the draft to Harrison. I mean, Chicago could do it. That's what I'm saying. Especially last year. We all sat here. Yeah, last year, around this time, sitting here like, oh, why would the Texans trade their first round pick? And then they go out and make the playoffs, you know. It worked out darn well. I'll tell you that. This is reminding me of last year. It's like, oh, yeah, but Bryce Young is the most pro-ready quarterback. Right. You know. It's all kind of a shot in the dark. Sorry, getting off track. Back to Marvin Harrison. I think it's probably most realistic that he goes to the Cardinals. But I don't know. Him and Kyler. You have to give Kyler a weapon of some sort. After D-Hop left and Hollywood's gone now too, can you name or see him around the Cardinals? Not really. The name that comes to mind is Greg Dorch. I've never heard of him. I think he's the only player. What they know about Greg Dorch. Exactly. So, like, you need a receiver. And I honestly don't hate it there either. Arizona with Kyler back this year. I'm thinking that they're not going to be a crazy team. You've got the Marvin Harrison. They just continue to rebuild. This is a big year for Kyler. So, like, a make or break, seemingly, almost, year for him. Because if he has another down year, you'd be like, oh, yeah, the Cardinals are probably just going to get rid of him. That's the correct step forward for them if they do draft Harrison 100%. You know, because, again, rebuilding O-Line on Paris is very good. Very good. It's definitely a step forward for the Cardinals, but that defense needs some help too. That defense needs some help. Yeah, I was expecting them to spend more money. 100%. They really haven't. They didn't even touch anything. I have been seeing that with the Hassan Redick trade request going back to Jonathan Gannon in Arizona is a real possibility. We'll see what happens with that, you know. But I really hope that doesn't happen. Their defense does. Definitely a weak point. It was like last year they were trying out the team, and it was just kind of like almost like an XFL team. It was just a bunch of, like, random. It was like the NBA equivalent to, like, the Sixers, G League roster, you know, like where that just kind of happens. But for Kyler, he needs a weapon. He should not move on from him, I don't think. I'm hoping to see him rebound after this ACL tear last year. And he came back last year and really wasn't that bad either. Yeah, 100%. Moving on for our last little topic in this little segment, do you guys think that Russell Wilson can revive his career in Pittsburgh? I mean, obviously the Steelers have that streak of making the playoffs at, like, nine and eight. Do you think that Russ can get them back there and save his career, Will? Honestly, I'm not confident in Russell doing that. You see the way he's been playing last year, the Broncos, he had players and everything. So I'm not really confident in his abilities. Ever since he left Chicago, man, he hasn't really done anything. He hasn't had a chance, I guess. But, yeah, I get you. He needs some help first on that receiving core. When, you know, Pickens is your right receiver one, but who's your two? Armstrong? Isn't that his last name? Yeah, I don't even know if that's his last name or not. Just telling you, that just says a lot. You need help. I do think Russ can do it, though, because, listen, what did Geno Smith do? The exact same thing. Okay, if Geno Smith can do it, Russ can do it. Fair. I mean, Geno did quarterback the Seahawks through a better year than Russ did that first year, which is crazy. I remember all that. But I don't know. I'm not sold on danger Russ no more, to be honest. Unlimited. Probably most definitely going to end up taking a receiver at some point in the draft, especially after trading away Deontay Johnson, who, like, isn't the best receiver, you know, but he's still, like, he isn't the best receiver, but he was one of your top guys. And now George Pickens, you want to see more from him, hoping Russ can kind of unlock more from him. But if you can't, looking in a couple weeks in the season, it's like, Russ, we have to throw the ball to you. This draft, they better focus on offense. That defense don't even need to be touched. That defense is insane. Not at all, and that's just kind of how the Steelers have been, really, since I've, like, watched football, always with a great defense. We'll see what Russ can do this year. We'll be back after this. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University's student-run radio station. This is Sports Uncaged. I'm your host, Tristan Mitchell, joined alongside Braxton and Will. We were talking a lot at the NFL Free Agency earlier in the show. Want to kind of switch things up and head towards March Madness. I mean, we're in the prime of March Madness. Yes, sir. After it started, what, last Thursday, I believe, we made our brackets in here on Monday. I wanted to be noted that I made four brackets this year. Four, you know, not anything crazy. I feel like that's a respectable four. After the first round, two of my winners are gone because of Yale and Oakland. And that had me so pressed. Like, Auburn, we sat in here gassing up Auburn. Like, they're going to make it fun. The whole radio show. Come on, Hal. Like, you just won the SEC, you know, have a great defense, can shoot. And those are, like, the two things in March. Like, that's how you win games in March Madness is by shooting and playing good defense, really. It just looks so good on paper. And then they're going to tell me that they lose to a bunch of accountants that go to Yale. Exactly. Like, I can't do it. That made me so mad. And then Kentucky losing to Oakland because Jack, I can't even pronounce his name. Like, Golke? Golke or something like that. Comes in along those lines, decides he wants to hit 10 threes today. But I just, I'm done, you know. I'm done. There was a bunch of upsets. Other than that, I mean, JMU. We saw something about rival JMU. Upset Wisconsin. Absolutely crushed them. And the game, honestly, a lot of the games have been really good. Clemson, surprisingly, had just beat Baylor yesterday in a big game. There's been a couple of overtime games. Duquesne had an upset over, who did they beat? I forget. Somebody nice. Was it Marquette, maybe, or no? Speaking of the game. Marquette's still in it. Who did they beat? The Duquesne, I'm blanking on who Duquesne beat. No, it was a big game. The Navy Blue Team. It was BYU. BYU. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Upset the Mormons. That was one of the few picks I had right in my bracket, apparently. Anyway, of course, it's March. There's all these upsets. But there's only, we're now in the Sweet 16. Yeah, and there's still only high seeds. There's not really a Cinderella story this year, unless you want to count NC State, which I do want to talk about. NC State basketball went into the postseason with a, I believe it was a 500 record or a game or two below, and has now won seven games in 12 days. Got fired. Sweet 16. How does that happen? I don't know. They're using that big man. Something burned. I think it's DJ Burns. Just insane. He's just like a mountain down there. He's just an NC State's version of Zack Yeti, I guess, and Purdue, a team that I had little to no faith in. I was like, yeah, they'll probably win the game. And then they just go out and kill whoever they played yesterday by literally 40 points. Utah State by 40 points yesterday. Same thing with Duke. JMU and Duke is one of the games. It was the first game I put on, and I was like, this one's going to be a heater. Look what happens. Yeah. Jared McCain hit eight threes, I think, hitting his first six. Six for six. It was like that was never a game. They end up winning by 40. That was kind of disappointing. The game right after that was a great game between Clemson and Baylor, where Clemson pretty much was winning the entire time. It was a game I sat down and watched from start to finish. And Baylor, you know, I don't think anybody took Clemson upsetting Baylor here. And a lot of people had Baylor going really far. To see them go out this early is kind of uncharacteristic for them. I mean, Tigers just gave themselves away. I mean, this whole March Madness has been upset. I mean, like, if my girlfriend made a bracket and chose teams with the prettiest colors, she would be smoking me right now. This is ridiculous. I mean, Oakland? Kentucky? What are we doing? Like, come on. You've been one of the biggest powerhouses in basketball, and you lose to Oakland. I mean, come on. Like, their coach has been the coach for 40 years. Exactly, bro. That's the first time they make the tournament. How did Zeal beat Auburn? Please tell me that. Please. A school. I mean, like, whatever. Yeah. Loses to Auburn? Beats Auburn? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hard guys. Yeah, they were doing math. This is not a basketball game. A bunch of nerds. 100%. I was watching that game, and just, that was a frustrating one, you know? Especially after Kentucky had already went down for me. A team that I also, like, I just, I messed with Rob Dillingham with Kentucky guard. He's twitchy. He gets a bucket, and I was like, they have Reed Shepard, just won freshman of the year. Doesn't even matter because of some random white dude shooting a bunch of dudes. Like, it's just, I mean, that's also why I love March, you know? Stuff like this never happens. And another, like, just low-seeded random game, Grand Canyon had an upset in the first round, took on Alabama yesterday, and this was another game I watched a lot of. It was a great game back and forth. Yeah. Yeah. See a mid-major like Grand Canyon take on a powerhouse in Bama. Bama, obviously, because, of course, they had to pull away in the last couple minutes, ends up winning by 11. Another great game, but other than that, oh, and there was that Texas A&M buzzer beater to force it to overtime, and they would ultimately lose to Houston. And San Diego State would stop Yale to round out everything yesterday. Fast forward to Thursday, which is our next round of action. It's going to be number six Clemson taking on number two Arizona. Let's start with Braxton here. Who do you dot in this game? As much as I hate to say this because I'm a game cock, Clemson's hot. I mean, they are looking really good. And being underdogs, you know, this bracket, it's underdog after underdog, so I'm going to go with underdog. Clemson. All right. After Clemson just upset Baylor, I'm going to go to Baylor, not Baylor. Clemson, just because of the fact they upset Baylor, who they're expecting to lose to and everything like that. And on top of that, with that momentum, I think they'll win the game. Yeah. I mean, Baylor is like a real blue blood. Honestly, they won two years ago, I believe, like pretty recently, and have been in the tournament. They're always there. They're always a high seed. Kind of had no expectation that Clemson would even really compete with Baylor, especially with Jacoby Walter on Baylor, going to be a lottery pick in the draft this year. I don't know. I'm just going to go with Arizona, though, just because I feel like the clock just struck midnight here. Arizona, they've been so good all year. Caleb Love out there. UNC transfer. I also want to see Caleb Love play at UNC late in the tournament. Moving forward, the next game is number one, UConn versus number five, San Diego State. UConn has looked like an unstoppable team. San Diego State just blew out Yale, who just gave the word to Auburn. And this is a rematch of last year's national championship. What do you got, Paxton? UConn. Fair, the two can. Fair. I cannot argue. No, UConn as well, man. They're playing really hot. They have the momentum going. I think it will continue to develop in going to the Final Four. Yeah, I don't want to say UConn goes out here. Kind of hoping San Diego State gets their get-back after last year a little bit, but UConn has just been, you know, insane. Yeah. And that leads us to the two more match-ups, which is Alabama, the four seed, taking on the number one seed, North Carolina. I mean, my pick here, I just said I want Arizona to play UNC. UNC has just been so good all year. Alabama has also been good. They've been hot as of late, too. It's just, you know, North Carolina, that's what the Tar Heels do, man. They play basketball. I'm going to go with them. What do you got, Braxton? Roll tide. Roll tide. Bama's hot. I mean, of course, I say that because, I mean, I call everyone hot when they win. But, yeah, I like Bama more than UNC right now. Same here. I like Bama more, man. I'll pick a little underdog, you know. I feel it. I feel it. And then the last game, which won't tip off until 10-10 on Thursday night, number three seeded Illinois versus number two seeded Iowa State. This is a real match-up between two big, big programs, bluebloods. One of my four brackets had Iowa State to win, so that means Illinois is probably going to win, so I got to ride it out. Let's go Cyclones, baby. What do you got, Will? Illinois State, man. Illinois or Iowa State? Illinois State. Illini. Got to go with the Fighting Alumni. I meant alumni. Illini. Yeah, both teams have been really good. There's a lot of good games this week. And on Friday, the first of the four games is going to be number 11, NC State continuing their run against number two, Marquette. Marquette team that nearly just went down. I'm taking NC State to keep their momentum rolling. Hey, at least we had one thing right last week. We called NC State the underdogs. We had them going far. Looks like we're right so far. I'm going to Wolfpack. Wolfpack, same here, man. Yeah, I mean, like I said earlier, they won seven games in 12 days. Give them some rest, you know. Get on that. Cannot think of what it's called. The massage gun, get the massage guns rolling. Just get a day to chill. I think they'll probably be cruising. And there's just all bluebloods going on this Friday. I'm going to skip down to this number four Duke versus number one Houston game. We just saw Jared McCain light up JMU. Houston just put up 100 points in an overtime game. I'm two days into college. I'm riding with Jared McCain, man. What do you all got? I got Duke, man. I really like Terry McClintock's lit up JMU. And, yeah, man, I'm confident in this Duke team. What do you think, Braxton? Yeah, I go Duke. I go Duke. The Blue Devils are hot right now. Again, obviously a blueblood. It's weird seeing them make a deep run like this without Coach K. But Jared McCain, man, setting the Duke record for threes hit in a tournament. It's just been a great one. We'll be back after this quick break. You're listening to WCCU. Did not drag the track. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University, studio and radio station. This is Sports Uncaged. I'm Christian Mitchell joined alongside by Braxton and Will. We've been talking kind of all over between NFL free agency and March Madness. We got two games that we didn't get to in our last segment, so we'll wrap things up here. Number five, Gonzaga taking on number one, Purdue, on Friday. Two bluebloods. Of course, I mean, at this point. Before I give my take, who do you got, Will? I got Purdue, man. You've been looking at me playing those past three rounds, and I was really confident, too. So I was like, Gonzaga. You're going Gonzaga? And I'm like, I'll be doing my bit. I think Purdue has that grit in them this year because they knew they should have went farther last year. You know, and I got Purdue. I mean, they played so well against Utah State, especially in the second half, first half. But second half, yeah. Yeah, they ended up winning by like 40-something points. It's 106-67. Yeah, like almost 40 points. That's insane. I am a Purdue hater. I'm going to fully embrace that, you know. It's fair. But at the same time, the only other one seed to be upset by a 16 seed was Virginia, who came back the following year and won the natty. You know, Purdue. Purdue, farther than their footsteps, maybe. I have them beating Gonzaga. Gonzaga's also been really good in one of the years that they've been viewed as weaker. They don't have like a guy this year like they had in last year's. There's no NBA talent on them this year. There hasn't. I'm going to go with Purdue there. The last game of the Sweet 16 is number two, Tennessee, versus number three, Creighton. And this one, for me personally, is a hard pick. I've been a follow in Tennessee. Tennessee's been great. But Creighton is just one of those teams, man. They're just one of them like mid-major schools that will just shoot the lights out and randomly make a run. But don't connect on Tennessee. Like it's tough, you know. I'm going to go with the Vols here. What do you got, Paxton? Yeah, I mean, the ugliest color of orange. I like Creighton, man. They're fast. They're good, man. They're really good. And they're one of those teams that I just want to see win something because you know that school would be so hype. So I got Creighton on that. I got Harry Creighton as well. He's like real fast. You know how to play? They have the chemistry. They're players who can shoot me plays. I got Creighton. Yeah. They're just, like I said, they're always in the tournament. They never win, but they're always far somehow. Right. Just kind of waiting for their year. And I'm sure that campus in wherever Creighton is, probably in the Midwest somewhere, is going to explode. But I just, I don't know. Tennessee, there hasn't been. I feel like they kind of came into the tournament slow after an upset loss in the SEC tourney. But since then, they've really been kind of solid, like really concrete. A lot of people were like, oh, they're going to get upset by St. Peter's. It's St. Peter's. Come on now. Be realistic. You know, I think this might be not to the same standard, but like a little bit of a similar situation where they're going to face like a not as well-known team. But here we go, Vols. I want to thank you all for listening. This has been Sports Uncaged. We'll be right back at you all next week.
