But I walked right by him and I'm really upset. Right by the library. Right in front of the library. I think on both sides. That sounds phenomenal. Yeah. Anyways, so yeah. Tuesday festivities on campus here. Um, but yeah. I guess we'll just hop right in. What were your highs from last week? Um, multiple highs. I... Actually, literally, what did I do last week? Wait, I low-key can't remember last week. Wait, no. Relay for Life was definitely a high. Oh, yeah. It was so freaking fun. And the weather was perfect. The weather was perf. And we had some fun little festivities with our friends. Mm-hmm. Um, wait. What was Friday? Nothing. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything Friday. Wait. I just watched movies, I think. I feel like my high... My high was low-key yesterday because I sat out in the sun and I got really good color. That was a fun day. It was just nice. And I was just reading and soaking up the sun. Yeah. But I'll tell you what my high of this week is. Formal! Ayyy! We have formal on Saturday and it's like a daytime formal, so it'll be really fun. It's gonna be in the daylight. The venue's so pretty. If anybody knows Pine Lake. Pine Lake's Country Club. Yeah. It's super pretty. It's very pretty. Super. Yeah. But today we're talking about, um, well like the topic we had like planned was like basically just like finances and like handling your money in college. Um, but yeah. We're just gonna kind of like, yeah. But like, but I do have a lot to say about that considering I just, um, was at Marshalls and I couldn't even buy body lotion because my card was declining. Um, it was a rude awakening, but you know what? It gives content for today. My card actually declined three times at Walmart yesterday. And then I got a security risk. Um, so do with that what you will. It's just like really humbling when you can't even like find a way to buy the stuff. I was like, guys, I was buying toilet paper and vitamins. Like, what a combination. My card declined, boy. We'll be back and get way more in depth on this after some music. Hey guys, we're back. Um, sorry, we didn't change the music this week. I've had a really hectic day. So we didn't. Yeah. Actually, it hasn't even been that hectic. We just like got here kind of late. I had a lot of ish to do today, but it's been like nicely kind of spaced out. And by spaced out, I mean like 15 minutes spaced out. No, I weirdly like handled today. Well, like in other periods of my life, I probably would have like been crying at this point. But like, I'm, I'm okay. It's the second to last fool. Yeah. Like we can do this. Yeah. Um, I took an exam earlier. I turned in a project. So I'm, you know what? You're thriving. Yeah. And I'm going to the library later. Like you're checking off the list. Exactly. Um, but yeah, back to my little fiasco that also happened today. So I'm at Marshall's at the checkout and because my friend needed to run in there and just look. She was just looking for shoes for formal and she didn't end up finding anything. But I was, of course, wandering around because it's Marshall's and I could have honestly dangerous. Yeah. Um, honestly, actually dangerous. Um, I could have picked up probably 10 more things. I had picked it up, but put it back down. Um, so thankfully I didn't do that. But so I picked up, um, body lotion because I'm all out and like they have, I like the hemp brand and I love the hemp. Yes. Oh my God. And I'm so sad. It was like a really good, um, scent. I can't remember what it was, but it was really good. How much cheaper is it there? Um, it's only like $12. Oh, it's usually like 20. Yeah. That's a big deal. And then they had sunscreen by the counter, like on your way to checkout. And I was like, oh my gosh, like I need sunscreen too because I literally have none. Um, and sunscreen is also expensive AF. Um, and they had like a tube for $6. So I was like, okay, yeah. Um, so I pick up both, get, go to checkout. And it was like the total was like $22. So I insert my card. It like low, like didn't work at first. It didn't say declined, but it just didn't like work. And then I was like, okay, let me try again. And then it said it worked like it charged $5, but 18 of the other dollars declined. I was like, oh, okay. Like, I know I have money in my, um, bank account, but let me just like log into check. I forget my password. Cause like I always do. Um, so I finally get in and I literally have $9 in my bank account. And I was like, oh, so like I actually can't pay for this to the woman. And she had to cancel the whole order and give me $5 back in cash. Cause it charged my card $5. And that was all that was left. That's literally the worst. So yeah, that was just like kind of a shock, but it's all right. Um, you know what? You live and you learn. Like it's fine. But, um, kind of ironic that like we planned on talking about finances today. But you know what? I guess we can just say like, it's okay to not have hundreds of money in your savings. Like it's okay. No, yeah, it's fine. Guys, I was talking to Kate about this before. My dad said when he was in college, he never had more than like $20. And I'm telling you guys, like that's normal. Yeah, that's normal when you're here. Yeah, like it's okay. Like obviously there are some people out here that are like on top of it. And like they have a lot of money in their savings. But majority of us are out here like, you know what? Trying our best. And that's okay. Like I know I'm not like some serial spender. No. I just like spend, I mean I spend money when I'm like visiting places. And I've low-key been. Like we went to Boston Savannah. And like, I don't know. I've bought stuff here and there. I've been to a cute, a few cute lunches with my friends. Like, you know what? And like I don't feel bad for spending that money. Like it was like experiences. And I mean. Money comes back and memories don't. Exactly. And obviously I have to spend money on the essentials here and there. Like groceries and stuff. And even like paying for stuff. Toiletries. Yeah. Even to like go to events. Like I realized like I was trying to add up everything I've spent in like the past two weeks. And like I had to buy a ticket to go to this like event for something for my class. And that was $10. Like stuff like that. It like adds up. And like you don't have to feel guilty unless you're out here with like extremely unhealthy spending habits. Yeah. I know both of us aren't. No. And you know what? It's okay that I only have $9 in my bank account. It's completely fine. Like we're going to make it. Exactly. We're going to survive. Like everything that we spend comes back to us double. That's what Kate and I always say to ourselves. It's so true. I fully believe that. Like this money that I happened to spend over the past six months, it's coming back to me triple. This is just like a minor setback for a major comeback. Like, yeah, exactly. And I'm literally getting paid on Friday. So yeah. No, then you're fine though. What? I know. I just like, but it's okay. You're completely fine. Literally. It's like, it's, it's just not cheap out here guys. It's no, it's really not. No, it's not at all. Like, can we talk about that? Like you're going to have to come here with some budgeting plan in hand because it's not going to be easy. The same age. And there's temptations. Yeah. Like honestly, one thing, this is also like made me realize, like when I was driving back from TJ Maxx after that, I was like, wait, whoa. Like there are like times like I don't need to pull light sometimes. Like it's like I have food at home. Like I'm definitely going to like adjust my spending in that sense. Like, especially going out to eat. I mean, I don't really go out to eat that often at all, but like if I'm going to, like I feel like I shouldn't just immediately be like, yeah, I'm craving that. Like I need to really think about like what I have in my fridge. Like what? Yeah, because clothes are more worth food. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Honestly, going out to eat low-key is like one of my least favorite ways to spend money. It's like because it doesn't last. I love a cafe and I love spending money on like coffee, but going out to dinner, like it's satisfying at the moment and then you're like, wait, why did I spend that? Going out to dinner also, if it's like a new restaurant that you've like never been to, that I can validate. Like I don't regret a single penny I spent in Boston. No, not at all. But like if I'm just going to like Chipotle, like actually sometimes Chipotle is needed. Honestly, I'm just never going to make myself feel bad about any of it. No, but like sometimes if I'm just going to like somewhere I've been before, like let's say if we were going to go to like Eggs Up or something, like that's not needed. That sounds good. Well, like, after iCarly, I mean. After iCarly was Henry Danger, Sam and Cat, Game Shakers, which was so bad. Oh, my God. Game Shakers was so bad. So, they were all bad at the same. Like, iCarly. I loved Liv and Maddie. Also, I watched a little bit of Bizarre Bark, but it was just kind of weird. I watched, like, maybe, like, a season, but the first season was low-key good. No, yeah. It started off good, and I was like, okay, Olivia Rodrigo. That was, like, before Olivia Rodrigo. And Jake Paul was in it, and I liked Jake Paul. I liked Jake Paul at that time. He's a freak. Yeah. We are just, like, going with how our brains feel. Oh, yeah. I'm, like, I can't talk about spending habits in college for 30 minutes. No. And I know, honestly, that y'all don't want to hear it, so. No, exactly. Like, let's be so real. Like, yeah. We're just being real. And when we do talk about spending habits, we're talking about how we don't have money to spend. Yeah, we're talking about how we actually have – So, there's actually pretty relatable content. Yeah. So, you know what? Yeah. How was your solar eclipse? Oh, okay. So, I actually looked at it through a colander, which was quite interesting. So, my mom – or my grandma told me to do it. And I went and found our, like, strainer, and I – so, basically, what you do is you look at the ground, and you, like, let the light shine through the strainer, and it makes a bunch of little eclipses on the ground. Oh. Because that's how much sun is showing. Like, it should – like, if it was a normal day, it would just be, like, holes, you know. Yeah. But it made a bunch of little, like, crescents. Oh. So, it's cool. So, I saw that. I didn't get to look at it. My roommate had glasses, so I, like, used that. Did it work? Yeah. It was cool. It was cool. I mean, yeah. It was cool, I guess. It kind of just, like, looks like you were looking through your glasses, and then there's, like, a little moon shape. And it's, like – the glasses are, like, blacked out. Pitch black, yeah. Yeah. So, like, I thought the lighting would be, like, weird outside. It was darker outside. It was, like, weird. Not darker in, like, a dark-at-night way. No. Darker in, like, if someone had turned the saturation down. Yeah. Like, the exposure was down. I thought it would be, like, dramatic, though. In other places, it looked pretty – It was. Did you see this one girl that we know goes to school in Ohio, and her story, it looked like the sun was setting. Oh, who? Oh. Yeah. I didn't see. Check that out. It might have expired by now, actually. Oh, yeah, it would have. But it was sick. It looked like the sun was setting, but it was, like, 3 p.m. Yeah. And the whole sky was, like, black, but with, like, a sunset type. Yeah. I'm curious as to what it looked like and where it was, like, most dramatic. My parents said it was dark at home. I went to Walmart yesterday, though, like, during the time of it, and there was a guy outside, and he was, like, selling the Eclipse glasses, and he was, like, last three pairs, $10 per pair. $10? I know, that's what I was saying. I was, like, that's literally insane. Like, $10 for something I'm not going to use again for, like, 30 years? No. Just give them out for free, especially if the Eclipse is already happening. It had happened. It was, like, past the peak. Bruh. And, like, the guy was, like, but I'll do $20 for the ladies. I was, like, no. Oh, my God. What? Make you pay more? No, he, like – Oh. He was, like, three for 20 for the ladies. I was, like, absolutely not. And as you're going into Walmart, you're not going to be able to see it. Like, you think I just want to stop in the middle of the parking lot and look at this Eclipse after it's peaked? Fun fact, like, speaking of, like, weird things happening when I was at Walmart, I was at Walmart when, like, literally in the parking lot, parked in the car when the Chinese spy balloon got shot down. Okay, wow. So I, like, genuinely – and I was with, like, really random people. Not, like, random people. Like, they were my friends at the time, but, like, still, like, looking back, just like, whoa, the people I was with. When you go to that Walmart, you're entering an alternate reality. No, yeah. And, like, I was, like – because, like, none of us knew what the hell was happening when, like, that got shot, like, what that even was. Like, people were, like, oh, there's, like, a Chinese spy balloon flying over you guys. And we were, like, oh, okay. I didn't really know what that meant. My brain, I was, like, oh, okay, so, like, there could be, like, a bomb in that for you. I immediately was thinking, like, air raids. Yeah, exactly. Like, because, like, that's, like, I mean, a rational – How did this balloon make it so far? Yeah. So I was, like, okay, so, like, there's a possibility I could die here at this Walmart with these people? Wow. Wow. I forget that that happened here. Yeah, that was, like, a lot for me. That's the one time you'll see Conway on national television. Yeah. Yeah, that was a very interesting day, but we're here now. The vibes were off on that day, like, the same way they were when, like, COVID hit. Low-key. But it was, like, a sunny day. It was a nice day, though, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I remember seeing, like, a trail of smoke. Yeah. And, like, you – I, like, saw them shoot it, like, shoot at it. Imagine being those pilots. Because you don't know what's in there. You don't know, like, what's – yeah. That's not – And, like, it probably was – oh, my God, ew, imagine how big it was up there. Also, I feel like – Because it was huge. I feel like going back to the eclipse real quick, why did, like, I not know that that was happening? Yeah, nobody, like, hyped it up. Nobody spoke – no one spoke about that. I didn't know about it until, like, I saw something in, like, my pattern app, which is, like, about astrology, and then on Friday I was on the phone with my dad, and he was like, oh, you know the eclipse is on Monday? Like, I was like, yeah, I guess I saw something about an eclipse, but, like, I didn't know it was, like, a big deal. I feel like the word eclipse is, like, used a lot on those apps. Yeah. So it was like, yeah, maybe eclipse is coming, but it's like, okay, like, eclipse. Yeah. But, like, I think lunar eclipses might happen more than solar eclipses do. Yeah, they do, yeah. So I think that might be, like, why I was, like, not thinking much of it. I probably thought it was, like, something I wasn't going to see. Yeah. Also, why do I feel like everybody made such a big deal about the last one? The last one was, like – okay, I think last one was a bigger deal because we were in the line of, like, totality, so, like, the entire sun was getting covered. But actually I don't remember the last one. I don't remember it. I was – I remember I, like, stepped outside to look at it, and it was sunny. That's what I remember, dude. I remember it being a fully sunny day. I don't really know. And I think I looked out – I made one of those, like, cereal box eclipse-looking things. Yeah. It was, like, some DIY I made. And I remember, like, looking through it, and it, like, not working. So I don't think I saw the last one. And apparently, like, the next one that we're going to be, like, in totality is, like, 2054. So it's, like, a full, like, 20 – We'll be 50 years old. It's a full 30 years from now. Ew. Ew. Ew. I'm going to be 49. Yeah, 50. So, like, I guess I missed that. Like – Yeah. I don't know. I saw some pretty cool videos of the eclipse, though. I kind of just, like, don't F with space like that. I mean, I think it's pretty cool to see. It is cool, but, like, I don't – I don't understand why people would go to space. I don't want to think about space, like, if I don't have to. I don't think about how it's, like, infinite. Yeah. The moon and stuff is cool, but, like – I love the stars. Yeah. I love looking at stars. But space in general is just kind of not my thing. Not your jam? No. I mean, it's cool to, like, learn about, but, like, to think about and to, like, think about how we, like, are in it. We're just, like, a speck. Yeah. Yeah. I don't love that.
