I'm your host Grant as always and we have a rainy day here in Conway, that seems to be a common trend of ours lately. I don't know, rain's cool, but like when it's just constant rain all day, it just makes it feel like a blad day, you know how I feel? Anyway we got Easter weekend coming up, so happy Easter everyone, good Friday tomorrow, happy good Friday, we got Holy Thursday today and Holy Saturday coming up, so big holy week. That's really awesome, Easter is a great time, I love Easter, I'm hoping to get off work. Work, okay I'm going to rant for a little bit. Work has really been frustrating me lately, management just has not been very nice and scheduling's been a mess and everything, it's just been very frustrating, so I'm trying to get Easter worked out, we're trying to work out some kind of compromise or anything, so that's just been a little upsetting in all honesty. So like last night we have BEOs, which is where a company or organization can pay ahead of time for a select menu or a nacho bar or drink tickets or whatever, and they can rent out a section of the restaurant for a period of time. So we had a 60-top BEO last night that I worked, Joey, we brought the bar card upstairs, Joey was bartending, and I was serving all the 60 people that had a nacho bar, so I had to make sure all the nacho things were stocked up, grab their plates, refill drinks, do whatever, like normal server stuff basically, just without a menu. And normally with BEOs, gratuity is included in the buyout cost, so they pay like a base fee, we'll say like $1,000, a base fee to rent out the space upstairs for two hours for the nacho bar, for drinks, whatever, and normally gratuity is included in that. Last night, there was no gratuity included in the BEO, which is like the first one that I've ever seen that had no gratuity included. So I worked for free last night, I literally made $8 from the 60-top BEO, $8, because gratuity wasn't included. It's ridiculous. I was so, so upset about it, and I went out for a drink afterwards with a few of my coworkers and I was telling them all about it, because we were upstairs and the entire downstairs was open and stuff, and so they had no idea what was going on upstairs and stuff, and I told them, and they were like flabbergasted about it. So that was extremely, extremely frustrating, but it's okay, work's never gonna be perfect, so we'll see. But anyway, on the agenda today, I got award predictions as the NBA regular season comes to an end. I'll get back to those right after a short break. So like I said, we're going over my award predictions as the NBA season is wrapping up. We got just about, I think about 12 games left. I think a bunch of teams just hit that 70-game mark threshold, or 72 games. So we have just about 10 games left in the regular season, so it's definitely winding down. We've had a great season so far. Just a quick standings update real quick. Boston Celtics clinched the one seed in the East. They've been up there all year. They're currently sitting at 57-15, and if their season keeps going how it's been going, they could easily be 64-18, or 65-17, somewhere around there, which is gonna be the best the team's finished in a couple of years, so that's really good for them. Behind them, the Bucs, then the Knicks, the Cavaliers, the Magic, the Pacers, the Heat, the 76ers, the Bulls, the Hawks, and the Nets. Those are all 11 teams still in playoff, or play-in contention. I think the Nets are gonna get eliminated soon, and we'll have our 10 play-in teams set. Teams that have been eliminated in the East, the Raptors, the Hornets, the Wizards, and the Pistons have all been eliminated from play-in contention. In the Western Conference, you've got the Nuggets leading the way at 51-22. Timberwolves, Thunder, Clippers, Pelicans, Mavericks, Suns, Kings, Lakers, and Warriors with the Rockets just a game out of that 10-seed to secure a play-in spot and knock the Warriors out. Warriors have not been good as of late. They've been 5-5, and the Rockets have been 10-0 in their last 10 games, which is crazy. And the teams they eliminated in the West are the Jazz, the Grizzlies, the Blazers, and the Spurs. That's just a quick little standings update there. So I did this actually in my last class. We're doing this thing, it's an advanced public speaking class, we're doing this thing where it's mini-presentations, so the theme is like, oh, convince us on something, or like, why is this thing better than this, or why you should do this. So we've kind of been doing that the past couple days, and I'm going Tuesday, so I have to get my presentation together this weekend, so we'll see. So I kind of just made my list of everything on my awards. And actually with my MVP pick, who you'll see coming up here in a little bit, I had to do a major assignment in that on anything that I wanted. So I decided to do it on, it's kind of like podcast form, so it's like my natural habitat, like what I'm doing now. So I decided to do it on why this player should be the MVP, so I'm going to wrap up the show with that. I'll probably get done around 11.45, 11.50 today, so I can go get some food before French class, because I am sitting on an empty stomach right now. I know I said that today would finally be the day where I woke up, showered, got everything ready for class, and ate breakfast all before my 9.25 class, and I did literally everything, cleaned my room, everything, but I did not have time to get breakfast, unfortunately. But it's okay, I'm doing good. So anyway, I'm going to start off with the Rookie of the Year, and it's obviously Victor Wembenyama. He's arguably been a top five center in the league this year, and I know for a good part of the season it was a race between him and Chet Holmgren, but Wemby's really pulled away as of late. He could win Defensive Player of the Year, he's definitely top three in voting right now, he's leading the league in blocks, averaging a double-double, you know, for a big little inefficient, but that's to be expected with the rookies, but Wemby's having a generational rookie season, and he's easily the Rookie of the Year book. Some honorable mentions, of course, are Chet Holmgren, and I also got Brandon Miller in there, too, from the Charlotte Hornets. Sixth man of the year, I'm giving to Malik Monk. This is a contract year for Malik Monk, and I expect him to get starter caliber money. Probably about $20, $25 million a year for a sixth man. He's been, he's played in every single game this season for the Kings, and he has not started once, but he's come off the bench and played a lot of minutes, averaging almost 20 points per game, shooting it very efficiently, he's been a flamethrower from deep, too, and really been a reason why the Kings team has been good this season, even though they are sitting at the eighth seed, but that West is just so tightly packed that they could be the five seed in three days, when they were just the eighth seed today. So anyway, he is going to be my sixth man of the year, and an honorable mention is going to be Norman Powell. I think he gets undershadowed a little bit on the Clippers, just because they have that star power of James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook, but coming off the bench for the Clippers, he's been a big reason for their successes, even especially when they were trying to get acclimated to the whole James Harden acquisition and all that. He's just been constant for them all year, there hasn't been a question of if or when he was going to show up for the Clips, and he's been doing that all season. He's averaging about 17 points per game, he's good on the defensive side of the ball, a good two-way player, and a big spark plug for them off the bench. But Malik Monk, I believe, is the clear-cut favorite to win sixth man of the year. Defensive player of the year, I got it going to Rudy Gobert. Now last season, in his first season in Minnesota, it was definitely a down year for him. A lot of people were calling that trade the worst trade of all time, if you could believe it. Which, looking back, I still don't think it was a great trade for an older Rudy Gobert. You have four first-round picks, and a young center, and a walker counselor, Utah got an absolute haul for Rudy Gobert. But this season, he's shown why he was worth that much. His defensive impact, perimeter, interior, just his sheer presence in there makes defenders scared to shoot. Even though he's not blocking them all the time, even though he's not stripping the ball all the time, if you're driving to the basket and you see a seven-foot Frenchman who's ready there to defend you, I'm going to be scared too. And he is a big reason why the Timberwolves are currently sitting at the two-seed. They weren't even in my play-in race at the beginning of the year, but they are exceeding expectations as a team, and a big reason is because of him, well, Anthony Edwards as well, but because of Rudy Gobert's defensive impact. His help defense, his interior defense, his shot blocking, and his steals, getting in those passing lanes. Rudy Gobert is the definition of a defensive player of the year, and he's a multi-time winner already, and this, I believe, is going to be his third defensive player of the year award. So we're just seeing a really, really great defensive talent in modern-day basketball, which is something to be said, considering the NBA really stresses offense right now, and it's really rare that you see a player like Rudy Gobert focus primarily on his defense. But something that has come out of Rudy Gobert's play this year is his defense has led to easy buckets. Getting in those passing lanes, or getting a shot blocked and a teammate rebounding, he's running the floor. He's ready to catch it on the other end of the floor for an easy layup or an easy dunk. And that's something that we've seen Rudy Gobert's game evolve with, is transition offense. Once he does get a stop, once he does get a block or a steal or something, he's easily down on the other end, waiting for the ball to either dish it out or make a bucket. As Modern Bowl mentions for me, is Victor Wynn Benyama, of course. I think this year, we can give it to Rudy Gobert, but he's going to win five out of the next ten defensive players of the year. He's leading the league in blocks as a rookie, and that's just insane. Maybe it's because he's seven foot four, maybe it's because he can jump out of the gym, maybe it's because he's super athletic, but to lead the league in blocks as a rookie is just unheard of. And Victor Wynn Benyama, he is really a generational prospect who's living up to the hype so far, in my opinion. Another honorable mention is Giannis Antetokounmpo. He's always been a plus defender, even when he was younger, even when he didn't have much size, he's always been a plus defender. And him and Brooke Lopez holding down that frontcourt in Milwaukee is a big reason why there's a two seed currently. And Giannis, you can always feel his defensive impact. So moving on to most improved player, I'm going with Kobe White. So Tyrese Maxey was leading my race for a little bit there, but Kobe White, he's jumped up almost ten points per game. He's averaging a career high in points, rebounds, and assists, and shooting it very efficiently too. And I think, in my opinion, he's been the best player on the Bulls this season. Zach Killeen's been out with injury, DeMar DeRozan, he's now playing like the MVP candidate that he was a couple years ago. And Kobe White, I think he has solidified himself as a player in the Bulls' future. If they want someone to build around, it could be Kobe White for them. And in my opinion, it's not going to be unanimous, but I think he's the clear-cut favorite to win most improved player. And my runner-up is Tyrese Maxey, and the only reason I'm not giving it to him is because once James Harden left, everyone expected him to take the jump. Even when James Harden trade talks were going around, even when him and Daryl Morey were having beef, everyone knew that Tyrese Maxey would take that next step once James Harden left. And the thing is, even when Harden was there, even when it was Harden, Maxey, and Embiid, Maxey already showed flashes of just how good of a player he could be, just how good of a player, playmaker, scorer he could be. And so everyone knew it was coming, so it's not like a surprise thing, and I think that's what most improved player is, someone that you didn't really see coming, and they just come and then, boom, they're a really good player all of a sudden. But we saw that from Tyrese Maxey. Another honorable mention, I got is Alperin Sengun. Get well soon. He sprained his ankle. It was probably a couple weeks ago now. It looked like a really, really bad injury, but luckily it was just an ankle sprain, so get well soon, Alpi. He's been really good, and I've called him Baby Jokic since his career started, and I really just love seeing him play. He's a very active player, very active hands, very active eyes, very active feet, and he's a really good piece for the Rockets if they want to build forward with him, and now even Jalen Green, too. Since he had a kid, Jalen Green's literally turned into Michael Jordan. He's been on fire the past couple games, and he's been the main reason why the Rockets are 10-0 in their last 10, so that's just a crazy thought there, but Sengun, he's going to take another jump next season, and he's going to be a top 10 center in the league in the next coming years and the years to come. I just mentioned the most improved player, and we're moving on to Clutch Player of the Year. Let's go ahead to DeMar DeRozan. DeMar is top 10 in all clutch stats this season, scoring, efficiency, three-point percentage, win percentage, all that. DeMar is a clutch player, whether you like it or not. The Bulls suck, but DeMar, in clutch time, he is one of the best players in the league, and the honor of mention for them is going to be Steph Curry. I love him to death, but DeMar is going to get this award. Coach of the Year, I'm going to Mark Dagnall of the Thunder. He's Thunder, the second-youngest team in the league, and they're a top three, possibly a top one team in the league, or in the Western Conference, I mean, and he's coached the Young Thunder team. He's really helped with Shea's development, Jalen Williams' development, Lou Dort's development, the Young Corps' development, and he's willed them to be a legitimate contender in the league, so he obviously is the obvious choice for Coach of the Year, and honorable mention is Mike Malone and J.B. Baker's staff. Mike Malone, just because he's, you know, he's coming, the Nuggets could have come off a championship hangover, but he's willed them to a one seed in the West, and he's just a great coach overall. He's really good with Jokic and that whole system they run, and J.B. Baker's staff with the injuries of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, he still has the Cavs as a top three seed, or top four seed right now in the Eastern Conference, so they need to get their flowers as well. Executive of the Year is going to Brad Stevens of the Boston Celtics. They acquired Chris Hapsporzingis and Drew Holliday this offseason, and it's equated to a lot of team success and a championship favorite team, so shout out to Brad Stevens. And honorable mention is going to be Justin Godsey of the Milwaukee Bucs from the Damian Mildred trade, and the Bucs are doing really good this season, so I had to throw a little honorable mention in there. And last but not least, MVP of the league is going to be Shea Gilgis Alexander. Yeah, my preseason favorite was Jason Tatum, and I do think he's top five in MVP right now, so that's kind of a good call on me. But Shea Gilgis Alexander is my MVP, and I'm going to go into why after I round off the all-NBA, all-defensive, and all-rookie teams. Shea, he's been a great player, and I'll explain why later. And honorable mentions, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic, the only reason why Luka does not win is team success maps, or the sixth through the eighth seed all season, and even though Luka's putting up ridiculous stats, team success is one of the most important MVP stats in my opinion. Jokic is going to be a lot of people's MVPs, but I want to be different. I love Nikola Jokic. I literally have his jersey. Thank you, Nana. I literally have his jersey, but Shea, I have to give him his flowers, and I'll explain why in a little bit. All-NBA first team, I got Shea Gilgis Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jason Tatum. Second team, I got Jalen Brunson, Anthony Davis, Damantis Sabonis, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard. Kawhi is meeting the 65-game minimum for a major award, so it's great to see Kawhi healthy, and his two-way style of basketball, and his efficiency is just off the charts. He's an absolutely ridiculous player. And third team, I got Steph Curry, LeBron James, Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards, and Tyrese Halliburton. Tyrese is a little questionable, just because coming off the injury, he has not been the Tyrese that we knew and loved before injury, but he's still been a really good player, still averaging over 10 assists a night. His efficiency just has not been very good, but I still think you need to give him his flowers and put him on an All-NBA team. All-Defensive First Team, I got Rudy Gobert, Victor Nguyen-Baniyama, Herb Jones from the Pelicans, Derek White from the Celtics, and Alex Caruso. And then a second team All-Defensive, I got Draymond Green, Shea Gildress-Alexander, Giannis, Anthony Davis, and Marcus Smart. The only reason why Giannis does not make First Team is because he already has the front court spots filled up with Rudy Gobert and Victor Nguyen-Baniyama, but Giannis, he definitely should be All-Defensive First Team if it wasn't for Wembley existing. All-Rookie Team, All-Rookie First Team, I got Victor Nguyen-Baniyama, Chet Holmgren, Brandon Miller, Braden Podzemski, and Jamie Jaquez of the Miami Heat. He's been a bright spot for the Heat. He's been really, really good this year. He was in the dunk contest. Obviously, he didn't do great in the dunk contest, but he was still there. He's been a really good rookie and kind of a diamond in the rough for the Heat. That seems to be their thing. They got Max Strews, who broke out. They got Gabe Vincent, who broke out. They got Kendrick Nunn in the bubble, who was good in the bubble, who now isn't very good. That's OK. But Jamie Jaquez, he could be definitely a young building block for them going forward. And All-Rookie Second Team, I got Keontae George, Scoot Henderson, Cam Whitmore, Asore Thompson, and Jordan Hawkins. So those are my award predictions so far for this season with about 10 games left. Do I think Shea's going to get the MVP? No, I don't. I think it's going to go to Jokic, but I want Shea to win, so that's why he's going to be my pick. So going into why I think Shea Gilgis-Alexander should be MVP, I got to pull it up here. I thought it was on Google Docs, but it's not, because this is another thing that upsets me. Coastal uses Microsoft, and I have a MacBook, so it's so much easier to use Google Docs and Google Slides and Google Drive, but they want us to use all the Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel and all that crap, and you have to download this package that takes up a ridiculous amount of storage on my computer, and I edit videos, and I have a lot of other stuff on my computer, so I can't download it, so I have to use Pages, which is like Apple's version of Microsoft Word. It sucks, but it's okay. So I got to pull up where I submitted it at. Let's see here, it's here, and then pull this up, you're going to make me do this, I hate this. Open in, open in downloads, sure. Have you ever wondered why Shea Gilchrist-Alexander should be the 2024 MVP? Well, I'm here to tell you, Shea has been very consistent this year with stats close to the GOAT Michael Jordan's five MVP seasons. Shea is willing a young Thunder team into legitimate championship contention. If you're an NBA fan who avidly watches basketball, you know the historic season that SGA is having, if you aren't, be impressed by these generational stats. In this, I will analyze Shea's season by giving stats, comparisons, and team successes to make this case for the NBA MVP. First, let's look at Shea's stats this season, they're absolutely ridiculous. According to Sports Illustrated and NBA.com, Shea is averaging 31.2 points per game, good for third in the league, and leads the league in steals at 2.1 per game. He's been very efficient as well, hitting 54% of his shots and making 38% of his three pointers. If you watch him play, you see the offensive and defensive impact Shea brings to the games that he plays in. He facilitates OKC's offense so perfectly and can score inside, mid-range, and from deep. Shea is constantly running around on offense, helping his teammates, picking up players, and getting in the passing lane to grab easy steals which equate to easy buckets for his team. Shea is a great help defender who always has active hands and feet, and that is the reason why he should be a Defense Player of the Year conversation and All-Defense player this season. Shea's numbers are impressive, but do they compare to the GOAT, Michael Jordans? The short answer is yes. Yes, they frickin' do. According to Fadeaway World, Shea is averaging 31.2 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, 6.4 assists per game, 2.1 steals per game, and 1 block per game. These numbers are similar to what Michael Jeffrey Jordan averaged when you combine all five of his MVP seasons and average them out. MJ has a slight advantage in rebounds and steals, but that's literally it. Shea is far more efficient from the field than Michael was, and Shea himself even said, I have a long way to go before I even get to be in the same conversation as him, but it's an honor. The fact that Shea is so young and already in conversations with Michael Jordan, the GOAT, comparing their stats, comparing their seasons, is absolutely ridiculous. Shea is doing this at such a young age, just imagine what he could be doing three to five years from now. Gonna take a short break, and I'll wrap up the show with the rest of my reasons on why Shea Coaches Alexander is the 2024 NBA MVP. Right now I'm currently giving my rundown on why I think Shea Coaches Alexander should be the 2024 NBA MVP. So moving on, Shea has played in 69 games this season. He's scored 30 or more points in 52 of them. That's insane. If he keeps this up, he will become the fifth NBA player to ever do so, joining Michael Jordan, Will Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Tiny Nate Archibald. Some legends in the game. Shea's generational stat line is equating to Thunder being a legitimate championship contender. According to Forbes, we may have been wrong about the OKC Thunder, and they're exactly right. The Thunder are one of the youngest teams in the league, as I mentioned, who entered a rebuild after trading all their stars and accumulating a plethora of draft capital. Shea is showing us dominance and two-way brilliance, and that means it's time to consider the Thunder a legitimate threat. If he can replicate his regular season in the playoffs, the Thunder have a legitimate chance to win the championship. The only question that comes up is their playoff inexperience. However, if Shea can lead this team the way he has all season, no doubt that they can pull it off. The Thunder are currently the three seed in the West, just half game back of the Nuggets, sitting at a 15-22 record. They are 28-8 at home and 22-14 away, with a point differential of 7.2, which is the best in the West, which is absolutely insane. So, in conclusion, Shea Gilchrist Alexander should be the 2024 NBA MVP because of his stats, his Michael Jordan-like play, and the Thunder's team success. The stats, comparisons, and the unexpected Thunder success makes him the perfect MVP frontrunner, and when you look at his season, it's hard to argue against him being the 2024 NBA MVP. So, yeah, that is my reasons on why Shea should win the MVP. I don't think he will, but he should win. Anyway, like I said, I'm going to wrap up the show a bit early so I can go get some food before French class. French starts at about 12.15, so I've got about half an hour. So, I'm going to run over to Cena and grab a queso bowl, eat that up, and then get over to French class. So, to round off my day, I want to get my car washed today once the rain lets up, vacuum it out. I need to clean my room, vacuum my room up, do some laundry, go to the gym. We are in the middle of peak tour season at Coastal Carolina, so the tours go out a little bit later and the tours come back a little bit later, and it's raining outside. It is a very gloomy day here at Coastal. It's very hard to lead a group of 30 people through buildings in the rain, and my shoes are wet. But we're here nonetheless, and I'm very excited for today's episode. My computer is just turning on, so we'll get up and running in a second. But today's episode of Feminism Unplugged is going to be talking about feminist celebrities and prominent figures, which is very exciting. This was a topic I knew I wanted to talk about, so I'm glad that somebody else was interested in this, and we got some really great responses as well. So, let me see if I can pull up my document. That's going to be the second half, and then we are also going to talk about what female figures do you look up to, you as in our... You are the Instagram followers. So, I got a few responses about these female figures that they look up to, they as in the audience. I got... Three people said my mom. Yeah, agreed. And then also Holly Rowe, Maria Taylor, Emma Watson, Daisy from The Bachelor. I don't personally watch The Bachelor, but very interesting. Bad gal RiRi, my bad. Dr. Elizabeth Muckenstrom, Taylor Swift, and Selena Gomez. So, those were some great responses. Personally, I also look up to my mom, my grandma, my stepmom, and then also my best friend's mom, Nance. I feel like I have a lot of good mother female figures around me.
