NCU Radio, Coastal Carolina's student-run radio station, has been discussing recent NBA trades and the upcoming All-Star game. They talked about the trade between the Knicks and Raptors, where OG Anunoby was traded for RJ Barrett and Emmanuel Quickly. They also mentioned the trade between the Raptors and Pacers, sending Pascal Siakam to Indiana in exchange for Bruce Brown and picks. The host expressed their thoughts on these trades and their impact on both teams. They also discussed the upcoming All-Star game and shared their predictions for the starters. They mentioned a recent trade between the Hornets and Heat, with Terry Rozier going to Miami in exchange for Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick. The host provided their analysis and opinions on these topics. NCU Radio, Coastal Carolina, Student Run Radio Station. We're back here with some Hoops House Pod with Grant. I'm so excited to have everyone back here for another show. We have a lot to cover, so last time I was with you guys, my buddy TJ and I, we actually did a interview, or kind of a show, with Six Rings of Steel. So if you don't know who Six Rings of Steel is, he's a YouTuber with over 320,000 subscribers. So it was very cool to do that. We talked about some Zach Levine trades and everything, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I really hope to get him back on the show here pretty soon and maybe level up and get KO24Q Kenny, king of the fourth quarter himself on this show. Him and I know each other. I've edited some videos for him and whatnot. But I hope everyone had a good winter break. It feels so good to be back here. It feels like it's been like a month since I've done this. And a lot's happened since I talked with y'all last. So a few notable trades that we'll discuss later. OG Ananobi got dealt to the Knicks in exchange for RJ Barrett and Emmanuel Quickly. And now I like this trade for both teams because the Knicks needed some help on the defensive side of the ball, especially in the wing position. Drewis Randall wasn't a great defender. RJ Barrett was average at best. Emmanuel Quickly, they didn't want to pay him all the money that he would be asking for as a backup point guard. So they shipped them off to Toronto, who needed kind of a retool slash rebuild, if you will. And now I think that they're entering fully into the rebuild after they dealt past Kelsey Occom, which I'll mention here in a little bit. But since the Knicks traded for OG Ananobi, they've had a more than winning record in their defensive numbers. Like if you compare them before the trade versus after, the Knicks are almost first in all kinds of perimeter defense. And just defense in general. And that's the OG Ananobi effect. That's why he had the trade value that he did, and that's why the Raptors got a pretty good return for him. Speaking of the Raptors, they also shipped off Pascal Siakam to Indiana. So now it's Tyree Salaburton and Pascal Siakam teaming up in Indianapolis in exchange for Bruce Brown and some picks. I really like the trade for both sides. Toronto, they get some low value, a few low value picks, but still, it starts their rebuild off well and puts them in the right shape. And we'll talk about Indiana's side of the trade once we come back from this break. Just wanted to do a quick intro. You guys will listen to Hoops Hotspot here on WCC Radio. We'll be right back. Welcome back everyone to Hoops Hotspot here on WCC Radio, Coastal Carolina University Student Radio Station. So before the break, we got into a little bit of the Pascal Siakam trade to Indiana. The full package that Indiana sent to Toronto was Bruce Brown, Jordan Awora, and three first round picks. New Orleans also got involved in it, but they just sent Kyra Lewis in a second. So nothing really came out of that for New Orleans. They just got some cash cut off of Kyra Lewis who wasn't really doing anything in the NBA, wasted a lottery pick out of Alabama there. But for Indianapolis, or for Indiana I suppose, they are already having a historic offensive season. They're the best offense in basketball by far. And if you compare their numbers to some of the all time great teams like the 2016 Warriors and the Bulls back in the 90s, their offensive pace and offensive efficiency is better than that. Now the record doesn't show that, and that's because of the defensive side. So Pascal Siakam, while he is a 20 point per game score, his defense will help out Indiana in the front court, especially with Miles Turner as that shot blocking five. And for Toronto, yeah, they're basically entering a rebuild I would say. They still have some talent with Scotty Barnes, R.J. Barrett, and Emmanuel quickly as well. But it's much needed for Toronto. And they made some moves that I'm hoping the Bulls will make because the Bulls and the Raptors are both in kind of that basketball hell situation, like that purgatory situation where you're too good to get the first overall pick or the second overall pick, but you're too bad to make the playoffs or go on a playoff run. So I'm hoping Chicago kind of sees what Toronto did and looks to move some of their guys. That's what Matt, TJ, and I talked about when he was on the show. Zach Levine trades. We each drew up a bunch of trades there and we all discussed that. So that was fun to do. And we'll see what Chicago does at the deadline. I'm not sure really what they're looking to do. Zach really got floated around a bunch and Demar is getting floated around too, potentially Demar to the Lakers. The Lakers always seem to be in these trade talks come the deadline and they never really go on and make a full move about that. But All-Star game is coming up. And tonight, actually, the NBA is announcing the All-Star starters. So there's gonna be five starters from the East and the West. The NBA went back to the East versus West format instead of having team captains draft the teams, which I like a bunch as having the conference All-Stars. Give me one second. Okay, sorry about that. We're doing some training for some new people here at WCCU and one of our employees is training a new guy on the sports network, so I had to pass the key over to her. But that's okay. Anyway, so yeah, the All-Star starters are getting released tonight. So five from each conference. I'm glad that we're doing conference versus conference instead of team captains because you really get to see the East players versus the West players. And I think that these players can actually give the West a run for their money this year. The West or Team LeBron or whoever has been kind of dominating the past couple of All-Star games. And you look at the talent in both conferences and you think just by the eye test that the West is better. But I think that the Eastern conference is gonna win the All-Star game. So I'm gonna give my official ballots of everyone that I think will make the All-Star teams. Now the reserves and the wild card players, there's I believe five reserves and two wild cards. So that means that there's a total of 12 players selected from each conference. So those aren't gonna be released tonight, just the starters, but I'm gonna go ahead and give my full All-Star ballot. And then the trade deadline's coming up in a couple weeks, I think two weeks from now. So I'm just gonna go over a Bleacher Report article that they wrote and it's called What Every NBA Team Should Do If The Trade Deadline Were Today. It's a couple days old. So one of the trades that I'm about to mention is that's not taken into account. But it's still pretty relevant so I'm gonna be reacting to that and letting you know what my opinion on everything that BR comes up with. So before All-Star ballot, Terry Rozier got traded two days ago actually from the Hornets to the Heat in exchange for Kyle Lowry in a first round pick. I like the trade for both teams. The Hornets really allowed Terry to get his value up. He's having a career year, really efficient, good 22 point per game score I believe his scoring numbers are right now. And Kyle Lowry, an older player on expiring contracts, so his money will be up at the end of the year. And a first round pick that they can leverage in a further trade and they're just kind of completing that rebuild some more, getting off of the 29 year old Terry Rozier and sending him to Miami who needs a player like Rozier. And I think this could potentially put Miami over the top if he gets the magic from Jim Butler and Bam Adebayo again. But really having a combo guard like Rozier helps out their depth and helps out Miami to potentially take that next step in the East. So that happened a couple days ago and I'm sure that a lot more trades are gonna happen as we get closer to the deadline. And when the deadline actually occurs. But for now let's talk All-Star. So I'm gonna start in the East and my five starters in the East are the lead guard position Tyrese Halliburton. He's having the best year of his career. He has come back down to earth a little bit after his hot start. But he's still averaging over 20 points per game and almost 12 assists on a pretty decent Pacers team. He missed some time due to injury but there's no reason why he should not be an All-Star starter in the East. And I think a lot of people do agree with that is that he's playing on an All-NBA level and he definitely deserves that. My second guard position, I'm gonna have Tyrese Maxey from the 76ers. And this one is interchangeable with, I believe, three people. I think you could put Donovan Mitchell in, Jalen Brunson, or Trey Young in that second starting position. But I take into account team success. Since Harden's departure in Philadelphia, Tyrese Maxey has been a superstar player, I think. I think he gets a little undershadowed because Joel Embiid is the MVP front runner right now. And he actually just dropped 70 points in a game. A couple nights ago, Joel had 70 and Carl Island's team down said 62. And they're both centers. Isn't that crazy? It's keeping up with the 76ers game when, you know, Joel went off and stuff. And he was just unstoppable. Just a dominant force. Again, it's Victor Winbenyama, too. Who is very good defensively for his age and how skinny he is. And Embiid gave him the work. 70 points dropped for the big fellow there. But anyway, back to Maxey. I think that he gets a little undershadowed because just how good Joel Embiid is. But if you look at his numbers, he's averaging just about 25 points per game, assisting a good amount, too, and grabbing a few rebounds. And he's efficient, too. And he's a big reason why Philadelphia, I believe, currently is the three seed in the East, if I'm not mistaken. I think it's Boston, Milwaukee, and then Philly in the Eastern Conferences. I'm pulling up my standings. Yeah, Philly is the three seed. Four game is Zach of Boston, who's the best team in the NBA. And I don't think they'd be there without Tyrese Maxey. If they had picked Harden over Maxey and traded Maxey or done something with him, I don't think they'd be in this position right now. Tyrese Maxey has really elevated them to be in there, and I think that he deserves the All-Star Starter spot. So in my forward spots, I have Jason Tatum from the Celtics and Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Bucs. Tatum's not top five in the MVP right now, but Giannis is top three, I believe. I think it's Embiid, Nicola Jokic, and then Giannis. And Giannis, he's having a season that we expect Giannis to have. 31 points per game, 12 rebounds, and almost six assists. And two years ago, three years ago, that would have been MVP numbers. But the scoring level has just really come up, and players are just playing out of their minds nowadays. There's so much talent in the NBA, and that's what makes it so much fun to watch. And Tatum, he's the best player on the best team in basketball. And I really don't see how he isn't an All-Star Starter. So both of these guys definitely deserve it. And then in the final forward spot slash center, it's Joe Ellenbein, easily. MVP front runner, averaging almost 36 points per game. He's on pace to have a Wilt Chamberlain scoring-esque season. I mean, he's just dropped 70 points in a game. How is he not a starter in the East? So over to my Western Conference starters. This is where I'm torn a little bit, because my Warriors bias, my Steph Curry bias wants to put him in the starter spot, but I don't think he'll get it. And these are my predictions, not what I want to happen. So my guards in the West, it's Luka Doncic and Shea Gilchrist-Alexander. And Curry, of course, will be on the bench, but I think the reason why he's not a starter is because his team sucks. The Warriors are horrible. They're the 12th seed right now. They just beat the Hawks last night. And also, rest in peace to their assistant coach. He actually passed away last week due to a heart attack. He was 40-something years old, and just a very tragic situation there, and it kind of hurts my heart that he just suddenly died at such a young age. So John Milosevic, if I'm butchering that, I'm sorry, so rest in peace to him. Yeah, but back to the Warriors. The team is not good, and I think that's the reason why Steph won't start. But Luka definitely deserves it. Luka's always up there, putting up amazing numbers. And Shea is an MVP candidate. I had him top three in my ballot this upcoming season, and I think you could make a case for him over Giannis. They say, okay, see, Thunder, now the one seed in the West, and it's because of Shea. People said when the Thunder were bad that it's just empty stats on a bad team, but no. Shea has proven that even on the best team in the West, and the second best team in basketball, he is him. Averaging 32 points per game, and getting about seven assists, six rebounds, that's what Shea Gilles just Alexander does, and that's what he brings to that team. And him and Chet Holmgren, who could be an All-Star, I don't think he will be, are a big reason why this Thunder team is amazing. So we're gonna take a short break, and when we come back, we're gonna talk reserves for the conferences here. I'll listen to Hoops HousePod here on WCCU Radio. What's up, everybody? Welcome back to Hoops HousePod here on WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University Student Radio Station. Before we get back into the All-Star games, I just wanted to say shout out to the Chiefs, beating the Bills on Sunday. I was very happy about that. I had to work Sunday, so I only got to catch the last five or so minutes of the game, but so glad that we're finally back in the AFC Championship, and I got Sunday off from work, so I'm actually gonna be able to go somewhere and watch the game with my Chiefs jersey on. I know a lot of people are tired of the Chiefs winning, but as a Chiefs fan, I do not care. The Chiefs are gonna win the Super Bowl, and if you disagree, you're just simply wrong. And during the break, I was scrolling through Instagram, just looking, and I saw this post that this guy who apparently tapes fish, like literally physical fish, to an ATM got arrested, so it's in Utah, and he had an Instagram account named FishBanda84, and he would post pictures of him taping fish with duct tape on ATM screens. I didn't know you could get arrested for something like that, but I find it frickin' hilarious. So yeah, he just posts pictures of him taping fish, so apparently he got charged with property destruction or something like that, so RIP FishBanda. But back to basketball, we talked about Luka and Shea and why they deserve to be starters, and in my forward slots, I got LeBron, Kawhi, and Jokic. That's pretty self-explanatory to me. LeBron, he's gonna make it because he's LeBron James. He's gonna be an all-star until he retires, even if he's buns, which he won't be because he's LeBron James. Kawhi Leonard, I think you can make an argument for Anthony Davis over him, but Kawhi has really come alive as of late. He's back to the Kawhi that we know and love. He's barely missed time due to injury or load management, and he's a big reason why the Clippers are doing as good as they are. They're the four seed currently in the West, and they've really been putting it together after the James Harden trade. They started off 0-8 after the trade, but since then, oh my gosh, they've been the best team in basketball, in my opinion, and the Clippers are gonna be dangerous, provided that they stay healthy come playoff time. So I think Kawhi definitely deserves that forward spot, and Jokic, that's self-explanatory as well. MVP runner-up right now, averaging pretty much a triple-double, leading one of the best teams in the West, the three seed in the West behind the Thunder and Timberwolves, and Nikoli Jokic, there's no reason why he would not be a starter. But back to the Eastern Conference reserves. So I'm just gonna kinda go down the list, and I'll explain some of them. I'm not gonna explain all of them, because you still have to read that line stuff to get to. But in the guard spots, I have Jaylen Brunson, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, and Trey Young. So I think those are all gonna be reserves for the East, and the East is still loaded up with guards, that any of those dudes really could be in that starter conversation. Jaylen Brunson's leading the Knicks team, he's having a great season overall. His most efficient season, his best spot at three-point shooting season, and especially after the OGN and Novi trade, the Knicks look like a dangerous team. In the East, Damian Lillard is on the second-best team in the East, leading that, and I think he's kinda getting undershadowed by Giannis, and people are looking, oh, Damian Lillard's numbers went down, yeah, it's because he's playing with one of the best players in basketball, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Trey Young, he's kind of the only bright spot for the Hawks. DeJounte Murray's been pretty good, but he's gotten floated around in trade rumors a bunch, since the trade deadline is fast approaching. But Trey Young is Trey Young. I expected him to maybe be a starter this season, but he's not really scoring like he did before, he's still assisting the ball and stuff, and he's Trey Young, there's no reason why he wouldn't be an all-star reserve. And then Bam Adebayo, Scotty Barnes, and Jalen Brown are my forward spots, and I think a snub that I don't have would probably be Jimmy Butler, I don't know. There's a few Celtics that have been getting a lot of fan votes, like Christophe Zeruzinghez and Derrick Wyatt and Jalen Brown, and, well, I mentioned Jalen Brown, but yeah, the Celtics, basically, entire starting five has been getting all-star votes, and for good reason. They're the best team in basketball, and they've been playing really, really freaking good. But if Derrick Wyatt gets an all-star nod over someone like Jalen Brown, that's gonna be a little fishy. Not that he doesn't deserve it, but there's just so much talent in the league where Derrick Wyatt, his impact isn't seen as much as it should, like on the defensive side of the ball and stuff like that, but he's a great player, and he's a really underrated player, I believe, in the East. But Scotty Barnes, Bam Adebayo, and Jalen Brown, they all deserve it for the support spots to be reserves. Bam is gonna be the sole heat that makes the all-star game over Jimmy. I think Bam's definitely been the better player this year, and he's a big reason why the Heat have had their success that they have had so far, and I think especially after the Rozier trade, Bam's assist numbers and rebounding numbers will be going up, and especially his defensive ability on that side of the ball as well. Scotty Barnes, he's been playing really well for the Raptors. You could have argued the best Kelsey Occom could have made it, but Scotty Barnes, he's really fun to watch. He's very young as Till as well, and his numbers are looking really good. And Jalen Brown, I think two Celtics will make it, and Jalen Brown will be that second Celtic with Jason Tatum. So on to the Western Conference of Reserves, and here's where it gets tough, because I have a few people that deserve to make it, but I don't think will. Jet Holmgren, yes, and Victor Wenbenyama, yes, they deserve to make it as rookies, but because they are rookies, there's just a lot more talent in the West right now that I think deserves it over them, but I think both of them will be all-stars come next season. Larry Markin is gonna be another snub for me. Kyrie Irving is gonna be another snub. Alpern Sangoon, consider him a snubber now. He's putting up really good numbers, and Rudy Gobert is also not gonna make it, but here's where things get tough, because my guards, I think, are gonna be Steph Curry, Anthony Edwards, and De'Aaron Fox. I think those are gonna be my guard reserves. Steph Curry, he's still, in my opinion, won the first or second-best point guard in basketball, behind or above Luka, however you wanna put them. Anthony Edwards, he's the best player on the second-best team in the West, and it's about time that he finally gets some all-star love. And De'Aaron Fox, I feel like a really underrated player throughout his career. The Kings are in the playoffs right now, and De'Aaron Fox is having a career-scoring year, career-assist year, and career-efficiency year, and there's no reason why he does not deserve to make the all-star game. In my forward spots, I'm gonna have Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, De'Montis Sabonis, and, hmm, I think I'm gonna go with Paul George, too. Yeah, Anthony Davis, I said that you could make an argument for him to be a starter, so there's no reason why he shouldn't be a reserve. He has played, I think I saw a stat where he was tied for the most games played in the past three seasons, which is really surprising to me, because we always called him Anthony Day-to-Davis, meaning he was always out with injury, but he's been a really consistent player for the Lakers, and I think you could even argue that he's been better than LeBron, but the LeBron bias will obviously put him in the all-star game, and he'll probably even be the team captain in the West. Kevin Durant, leading the Suns to a really good, not a really good, but a decent team. They've had some injury woes and just haven't really been putting it together, but it's Kevin frickin' Durant. How does he not make an all-star game? And Paul George, he's really come alive as of late, too, and I think he's having his best season since he finished third place in the MVP race a couple years ago when he was on the Thunder. And my final spot is gonna go to Devin Booker. And I don't know why, I think some people may deserve it over him. Wait, did I say Paul George or DeMontis? I don't know. Anyway, my last spot's gonna go to Devin Booker. Once again, I just think popularity's gonna propel him in there. Yes, fan vote accounts for 50% of the others. The other 50 is voted on by players and coaches, but Devin Booker's having a really good season. He shot 46 against the Mavs last night. It's NBA Rivals Week, so that's pretty cool. And yeah, those are my Eastern and Western Conference All-Stars. I'll be anxious to see how the starters go tonight. I'll definitely be tuning into that to see how that works. And yeah, All-Star weekend's right around the corner. Trade deadline is right around the corner. And French class, for me, is right around the corner here in about 40 minutes. I actually kind of enjoy French class. It's hard, I took French for eight years from kindergarten until eighth grade. And I think I was pretty decently fluent in it, you know, as much as a middle schooler could be. And then I just haven't taken it since. But I'm in class and a lot of things are coming back to me. But for a beginner level class, I think if I walked in there not having any clue what the hell I was doing, I would not be doing good. Because there's some people in there who have no French class, French experience. Like the girl who sits next to me, she has no clue what she's doing. And I'd feel bad for people in that class. But I'm glad that I have that background. And I'm glad that I'm able to understand the class as much as I can. My professor's pretty cool as well. So we are about to take a short break here in about 45 seconds. But when we come back, I have this literature report article titled, What Every NBA Team Would Do If the 2024 Trade Deadline Was Today. And after we come back from this break, we're gonna have about 15 minutes left of the show. So we're gonna kind of fly through this article, get the outro done, and get y'all on y'all's way with the basketball knowledge from a random college kid at Coastal Carolina. So trade deadline, I believe is, let me just Google this real quick. When is the trade deadline? So it's February 8th. Okay, February 8th is the trade deadline. So it is in two weeks from today is the trade deadline. That's crazy. Gonna take a short break. We'll be right back. Y'all listen to Hoops House Pod here on WCCU Radio. Welcome back everyone to Hoops House Pod here on WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University student radio station. Before we talk about trade stuff, I wanna shout out the South Carolina men's basketball team who upset Kentucky a couple nights ago. So that was Sunday night too, because I was watching it at work. So yeah, Coastal Carolina men's basketball team upset Kentucky, and they're having a really good season so far, so that's a big win for SC sports fans, which I'm really happy about. That's very cool, and I'm glad that we got that upset. So into some trade stuff. So we're gonna just kind of breeze through these, each team. So first is a hawk that says reshape roster around Trey Young and Jalen Johnson. I completely agree. A DeJounte Murray trade seems inevitable, and I think it's best that the Hawks do move him. I don't think they'll get quite the return that they paid for him, but I do think it's best that he gets moved and Hawks kind of enter a retool around Trey Young. Celtics find a big wing. Sure, their bench isn't great, so maybe if they could improve their bench, but they don't have a lot of draft capital, but that starting five I think is enough to carry them to a title. So maybe if you can find a wing off the bench, like a Grant Williams like they had, but they don't have him anymore, but a similar-esque player to him would be pretty good. Now the Brooklyn Nets be open to buying or selling. Interesting. So Glitch Report doesn't really have a direction for the Nets, and I kind of agree. It doesn't make sense for them to sell because Houston owns their pick. So say they tank and they finish with like a record of 28 and 54. They don't own their first round pick, so it's really nothing kind of coming out of that. So if I were them, I would make a few trades here around the edges and maybe propel themselves into play off contention. Maybe sneak into a seven or eight seed or something like that. So it's not just a waste of a season and the Rockets make it like a middle of a team's pick in the draft. So next, the Hornets. They said trade Terry Rogier while the stock is high. I mentioned that this was made before the Rogier trade was made, and I believe Terry Portnayo ran on the head with this one. That's exactly what the Hornets did. His stock was high. They had a first round pick out of him and expiring contract, so they'll have money up. And yeah, good job, Bleacher Report, for nailing it there. Next to the Bulls. They say don't force a Zach Levine trade. And I agree to an extent, but he needs to get traded. And if that means that they need to sell low, maybe just get a young player, a pick, and a contract filler, then that's what they have to do. Like a D'Angelo, Russell, Rui, Hashimura, and a first round pick trade, in my opinion, would be enough to get it done if I was the Bulls. It's either trade Zach now or don't trade him at all. Because as the fans are tired of it, the coaches are tired of it, the players are certainly tired of it, just being in purgatory and not being bad enough to get a pick, not being good enough to make the playoffs. So I think they need to trade both Zach and Zamar and get at least three first round picks for the two players. So moving on to the Cavs, add another playmaker. Sure, Darius Garland's been out with a fractured jaw and then their backup point guard, Ricky Rubio, he retired, so shout out to him. And I get it, but the Cavs have been 8-0 without Darius Garland and Evan Mobley in the lineup the past eight games, which is crazy because those are two of the best players on the team, but I do see where they're coming from. Maybe get a lead guard to come off the bench and really control that second unit. I don't disagree with that. I don't know who they would trade or who they would get in return, but this is kind of just wants and needs that the teams would need, so I agree with that. So Dallas Mavericks explore front court upgrades, okay. I could agree with this, I could. So their lineup that they've been rolling out is Luka, Dallas H. Kyrie Irving, Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Green, and Dante Axum, basically, or with Grant Williams. So they've been playing a lot of small ball and that's because they don't really have a center that is really dependable. So they have Maxey Klieber and Derek Lively and Dwight Powell, but do you really want to rely on a rookie to take you to the promised land and once you get in the playoffs, really make an impact that some other centers will make? I don't know. So I think the Mavericks could go after Clint Capella from the Hawks, which kind of ties in to what the Hawks want to do in that kind of retool of the roster, but also should the Pistons make Isaiah Stewart available, I think the Mavericks could be really good suitors for Isaiah Stewart and I think that that could be a realistic option for them. So moving to the Nuggets, find a backup center. Yes, I agree. Nikoli Okic has been phenomenal this season. He's the best player in the world, in my opinion, but this stat, according to Bleacher Report, says when he is on the bench, the Nuggets get beat by 122. When he plays, they beat opponents by 328. That's a pretty wild stat, and that's because their backup center right now is DeAndre Jordan or Zeke Nagy, and that's not good. DeAndre Jordan is washed and Zeke Nagy has never been good, and last year they traded for Thomas Bryan, so I think another backup center like that, maybe like a Daniel Gafford or someone of that caliber could help the Nuggets come playoff time when Okic is not playing, because every minute counts when it comes to playoff time. Detroit Pistons, it says balance out the roster, but I think they should just sell the team. They're currently five and 40, five and 40. They went on the longest losing streak in NBA history a couple months ago. Well, heck, it ended last month. They're horrible, and I don't know. Cade's been out with an injury recently, and I'm curious what they say when they mean balance out the roster. So it says Jalen Durant should be the only untouchable big name here, other than Cade Cunningham, of course. So a group includes Isaiah Stewart, Marvin Bagley, who got traded to the Wizards, that happened, and James Wiseman. Yeah, I get it, but they're bad enough. Just, I don't know, tank and get the first overall pick or something. Alexander Sorrow probably saved the franchise. He's a great prospect. Pistons just need to sell the team. They need to relocate. Detroit doesn't deserve anything, other than the Lions, but. The Warriors think keep Jonathan Kaminka. I completely agree. So Golden State were emerging as potential suitors for Pascal Siakam before he got dealt to Indiana, but they would have had to have given up Jonathan Kaminka if they wanted to get that deal done, and I think the Warriors do need to keep him. However, I think Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins both need to be on the trade block. They've both been having abysmal seasons, and that's why the Warriors are not doing as good as they are. They need to go out and get a true big, I think. A wing slash big is what the Warriors need to get them over the hump and back into playoff contention. The Rockets, it says prioritize internal growth over splashy trade. Yes. Ooh, I could not have said it any better myself. So the Rockets are exceeding expectations. They've already exceeded their win total from last season, and they're currently a playoff team, provided they win the planned tournament games. And they got a quarter right now of Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Ahmed Thompson, Javari Smith, Operon Sangoon. They've got a whole group there. And I think for a team like Cuba Smith, if they weren't so young, they could go out and really make a trade for a big name, maybe if a Donovan Mitchell becomes available, or a trade for DeJounte Murray or something like that. But I think that the core that they have is good enough for the next couple of seasons. So let the young people develop. Let Fred VanVleet mentor the young guards. Let Dillon Brooks still provide that defensive ability on the side of the ball and prove that he's worth his contract. And keep it up. I think the Rockets are fine as they are. They're not gonna win a championship this year, and there's no reason to trade those young assets and picks in exchange for a move that could make them a championship caliber team. Indiana Pacers, it says add defensive help, and that's exactly what they did. So we'll skip over them. They added defensive help, like Pascal Seagum. The Clippers, it says find one more rotation piece. And I agree. And in the month of December, the Clippers went 16-3, which was the best team in basketball. And in January, they've been playing no different. They've been playing really, really good. James Harden's playmaking and efficient offense is a big reason for that. And I think the Clippers should kind of put together some of the players that don't play that much, like a P.J. Tucker, like a Bones Highland, and go out and get another player that could really solidify that rotation eight or nine players deep come playoff time or in case an injury does occur. Los Angeles Lakers, Lakers, Lakers. Avoid any blockbuster moves. Interesting. I disagree. I think Zach Levine or DeMar is gonna be a Laker on the deadline. The Lakers are not doing good, and LeBron isn't getting any younger. They're just around 500 right now. I think they're at the 10 seed right now. And the Lakers need something to really put them over the edge, whether that's another score or more just depth. They just have not been playing good. LeBron and Anthony Davis are the only players who have been playing good on that Lakers team. So Grizzlies start planning for next year. Yes, John Moran's out for the season now. He had surgery on his shoulder. The Grizzlies aren't gonna make any noise, so I think they should just bottom out, let everyone play, see who they want to keep, see who has value, get a high draft pick, and be right back in contention next year. Gonna take a short break. This is Hoops HousePod here on WCC Radio. We'll be right back, y'all. All right, everybody, welcome back here to WCC Radio, Hoops HousePod on Coastal Carolina's student-run radio station. We have just a few more minutes left of the show, and we have 15 teams left to go of the trade deadline. So we're gonna hop right back into it. Miami Heat has a Chase Point guard upgrade. Check, did that with Terry Rozier. Perfect call on play to report there. Bucs trade for a point-of-attack defender. I completely agree. Their defense is abysmal, and they actually just parted ways with Adrian Griffin, which is surprising. First-year head coach, he had a 30-13 record, but reports came out that he apparently lost the locker room. So now Doc Rivers, oh, God bless the Bucs, is the new head coach of Milwaukee, and we'll see what they can do. But I think a Mississippi West player would be good for the Bucs. Timberwolves add one more ball handler, sure. They're one of the best teams in the West, but Mike Conley is old, so I can agree with this. Maybe a Tyus Jones could be a suitor. There, New Orleans Pelicans dump Kira Lewis, Jr. for luxury tax relief. They did exactly that in the past. Gossyach comes to trade. Another good job bleacher report. Find an Emmanuel Quigley replacement for the Knicks. I agree. They have M48's $18.9 million contract. They have a few draft picks that they can use, and I think maybe a player like a Tyus Jones, Malcolm Bracken, or Jordan Clarkson would be good for New York. The Thunder move on to lunch. I don't think the Thunder need to make a big move. They're the one seed in the West right now, and I think they need to keep their eggs in the basket to maybe make a big splash as someone is available and the price is right. But they're playing really good, and there's no reason to break up that core right now. The Magic decide if Wayne Delacorte, Jr. is still part of the core. I'm sure. I don't really follow Magic basketball, so I don't know. They've fallen off since I talked to y'all last, but I don't think he is, but I don't think they should trade him just because they don't think he is. 76ers be aggressive buyers while keeping Caps' flexibility. Sure, I don't think the Sixers are gonna make any moves, to be completely honest with you, and I don't think that they should. Suns find best player available, create roster swap for buyout market. They've already gone all in. They have no draft picks. They have no contract space. There's not much that the Suns can do, so the Suns won't make any moves either. Portland Trailblazers trade Malcolm Brogdon and stay patient with Jeremy Grant. I agree. I think Malcolm Brogdon will get dealt at the deadline, but Portland needs to get the right ask for them. Scooter Henderson's been really good since we talked last. I got him as the efficiency up, and he's been really good as well. Sacramento Kings look for upgrades while keeping Keegan Murray. I agree. They need some bench upgrades. I don't think that anyone big is gonna go to the Kings, but if they could get someone off the bench by using Davion Mitchell to kind of explore that trade, then I think that they should do that. Antonio Spurs speed up the Luria build. I just think that they should tank and not worry about it at all, frankly. They're gonna get a high draft pick, and let Wembe continue to develop. Raptors explore past Gussie Ockram trades. They did exactly that. Good job, Lucha Reports. Uchell Jazz, keep a high remark and explore Jades for John Collins. I completely agree with that as well, and I think that the Uchell Jazz, they need to get some more draft capital, probably for John Collins as well. They're kind of teetering around 500 right now, and Marconen seems happy in Uchell, and I think that Uchell needs to explore some John Collins trade options. Last but not least, the Wizards. Field offers for Kyle Kruzma. I agree. Wizards suck. They just fired their coach, Wes Unsell Jr. Well, didn't fire him. They kind of, I don't know. He's going into a front office role, and the assistant coach is the new head coach for the rest of the season, so we'll see how that goes, but yeah, they can get something for Kruzma. Maybe two first-round picks. Maybe a young player and a pick. I think they should absolutely do that. So anyway, guys, that's the show for today. Thank you all very much for joining me. It's very good to be back. I'll be back here at the same time next week, now at 11 a.m. instead of 1 p.m. I'm gonna head over to French class now. Bonjour, comment ça va? Parlez-vous français? Yeah. The rouge voiture. That means the red car. I don't know why, but... Anyway, guys, I love you all very much. Thank you for joining me here on Hoops House. I've been Grant, and I'll see you guys next week. Peace!
