Shane McGee and Davis Meyers discuss their mock draft for the first round of the NFL draft. They go through each pick and discuss the potential players that could be chosen. Some notable picks include Cale Williams going to the Bears, Jaden Daniels going to the Washington Commanders, and Drake May going to the Patriots. They also discuss J.J. McCarthy potentially going in the top 10 and Brock Bowers being the top tight end in the draft. Shane McGee here with and I'm Davis Meyers and we had to switch them to we had to switch studios since the very big studio because we had some some difficulties I got locked out the computer so we are in here today and Shane I take it away for what our main topic is gonna be for today main topic of the day another mock draft going with the first round yes so you know we can divvy up picks however you want we can go even odd I'll let I'll let you go with the the first pick and then the third and fifth okay so I'm like the odd numbers is a what you're trying to entail you know the odd numbers are even only are the Eagles even yes okay that's why you want even okay so number so many Jaguars are an odd number yeah perfect so sorry I'm trying to find it okay you're just so low a little up so I was number one draft pick of the Bears like Cale Williams quarterback from USC no brainer you know like we all know like it's gonna happen a foreshadowing of what is going to happen so I really like this pick and it's kind of an obvious no-brainer you know yeah obviously random all right number two pick to the Washington commanders the Redskins Jaden Daniels Jaden Daniels and not Drake may not Drake may is there a reason I've seen reports that Jaden Daniels is more favored to go number two overall now he is his odds are switched up to number two right right Washington wants them as their guy so the only the only caveat to that is I think Jaden Daniels wants to be a patriot I think he wants to be a patriot although I think that's close to home for him is it think so but I I don't mind seeing the Jaden Daniels go to the commanders but like it's scary Terry's still like a wide out for the commander yeah yeah so I'm like Shane like Shane like that could be a scary duo having a Jaden Daniels and a scary Terry or they have a few other from the from the trade that you know they've had so far so I like that pick I was number three the New England Patriots select Drake may quarterback North Carolina which could be the newborn of Tom Brady no he could be he could be the new coming of Tom Brady's the next coming of Zach Wilson you you really think so yes when was the last time that a guy who was just a big arm and he ran a little bit he wasn't a scrambler and he had a couple of impressive throws in a pro day went to a smaller size school North Carolina mr. bisky mr. beast Mitch was also a mr. beast Mitch but of like the Patriots so what somebody on a sports intro right I made a claim that a Jaden Daniel I'm sorry that they'll that like Drake may was the most NFL ready which like a part of me like agrees but a part of me has to watch him play a few seasons because they Drake may he's a lengthy he can run you know like you throw the ball he's smart but again I think he was only a sophomore or was he a junior he was a junior okay a junior as I'll say a junior okay I think he sat behind Sam Howell first first year Sam Howell I think you're yes yes you're correct because 2021 will Sam Howell's last year okay I like that all right Shane number four number four the number four overall pick another other kind of no-brainer is Marvin Harrison you know our junior dad and now so I'm playing in the league yeah at the same time yeah yeah these mics are kind of weird Shane it's a change trying to talk to these mics instead of the mics and sports yeah but you know it works no more going for I like that number five of the Chargers a selecting the league neighbors wide receiver from LSU so the Chargers had to get rid of Keenan Allen they did I think they lost Mike or no yeah Williams and Mike Williams and they're they made a lot of moves they made a lot of moves to cut cap room yeah and you know they're gonna need a receiver Malik neighbors is Malik neighbors would be a number one pick wide receiver in the draft if Marvin Harrison was not in this class yeah Marvin Harrison jr. is like he's good enough he's good enough to be the number class yeah what neighbors I haven't seen him play that much but I've seen his ability to find the ball and I catch the ball and um and having a a Heisman quarterback on your side is always helpful and having a good season like Malik neighbors have of course of course of course number six whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa so right I have a trade going through here the New York Giants are gonna trade away the sixth pick and their second round pick for this year to the Minnesota Vikings for both of the Vikings first-round picks this year 11 and 23 and the Vikings trade up to get JJ McCarthy quarterback from Michigan why I don't know I I don't find anything particularly eye-opening or or like I think JJ McCarthy is just kind of average I probably would have had him going in the second round yeah but the first three quarterbacks are off the board there's a lot of there's a lot of hype around JJ McCarthy he's he's looked at differently than he was two months ago now he's a potential top 10 draft pick I think of from a beating of Alabama and beating a Michael Phoenix jr. it really um you know why he raises draft stock and the players from Michigan are historically better so him being from like Michigan could have raised his draft stocks a little bit I guess I heard that a few times but I don't mind the pick it well I do kind of mind it because I don't think he should go top 10 I feel like he should go top 20 but by the end of the day he's a good quarterback I just don't think he's elite like others are saying yeah the number seven of the Tennessee Titans will select a Joe Alt um OT from Notre Dame offensive tackle from Notre Dame ah I like this you know seeing it's hard to find a quality offensive tackles and drafts sometimes it will know it yeah it's tough but it's hard to find one that that is a consistent for years to come yeah like what's the space it's like a Jason Kelsey Center yeah what the legend man he is everywhere we love Jason Kelsey yeah take number eight the Atlanta Falcons select Ed Rusher Dallas Turner from the University of Alabama by Emma I don't mind this now Turner is a big boy and he is a guy he's I think he's he's on that you did undisputed Ed Rusher number one in the class I think he is number one as Russia as well Shane and then there's a couple of gaps in between that to the next Ed Rusher and Rusher from Missouri no a lot too late to that too no he is not the next one off the board Jared verse yes Jared first that's a scary man he gives me PTSD scary man all right should we continue yes so number nine of the Chicago Bears select Rome Romo doomsday I'll receive her from Washington that's his last name right yeah I remember doing today number nine of the Bears selects when we're doing the receiver from Washington the first team that is a loser they are lost in Michigan in a and that not a close one gosh a Chicago Bears already have a Keenan Allen now they have a DJ more kill Williams with a draft them and they could now have a room of doomsday very scary right there Shane all right we will move on to the number 10 pick when we get back and we will be back soon you're listening to WCCU Sports Network on Coastal Carolina University's radio station here in the main studio today I'm your host at the college football countdown today Shane McGee I'm here with my co-host and I'm Davis Myers back with our second segment of Shane's mock draft which is going very well so far yes sir very well indeed I'll shame we'll do a number 10 number 10 pick of the 2024 NFL draft the New York the football just tight end Brock Bowers from Georgia undisputed tight end one top five talent in the draft there are just so many other needs for for the teams that are picking before the Jets that I think the the team to pick him that makes the most sense is the New York Jets I believe so because of the weapons they have already with elite receiving core they have Aaron Rodgers they have a decent offensive line but a decent defense and now they just need a tight end and some defensive sides but they have but they have they have second rounders they do they do I'm not sure how to pronounce his name but I was number 11 of the New York Giants will select Elise Fuego offensive tackle Oregon State and a trade a trade that was the aforementioned trade with the Vikings got it so so Giants will fix and they trade back to 11 and 23 and 23 so now they have to they have two first-round picks this year and 23 a corner whoo that's nice Shane that's nice I like this pick offensive tackles are very valuable in drafts and if you get a good one that you're set for like 10 years if you told me he was going this high in the in the draft before I would have laughed not only because it's a little bit high for him it like even now but it's also because he was he was offensive tackle number three going into it and now I've seen plenty of people take him before Olu Fushanu from Penn State yes do you agree with that or do you disagree I don't I don't think I have enough information of pro days and the combine to dispute anything that somebody is doing I mean I watched I watched the combine and I watched a little bit of a couple of pro days but I can't dispute what you're saying I understand pick number 12 by the Denver Broncos cornerback Terry and Arnold quarterback Terry and Arnold from Alabama was once a I don't even know if he was in a first-round rank to start the season I remember Kool-Aid McKinstry was ranked as the number one corner of the class coming into this year and so to me this is a huge jump and to become arguably cornerback one of the draft is a great move where is Kool-Aid McKinstry he has fallen a little bit yeah he definitely he's definitely fallen a little bit depending on what mock drafts you're looking at you can see him go anywhere from the teams of the draft to the early second round is there any reason why he fell a little bit I'm not sure I'm maybe an injury yeah maybe in the and and draft that he may had a tweak in the hip or a tweak in the leg just a small little setback as I remember I really between Nate Wiggins Cooper Dejean and yeah Kool-Aid McKinstry it's kind of like the battle for the third corner back off the board it is and we have a ton of corners going into the teens no sorry I go to the 20s yes the Eagles the Giants and the Bucs as we will not tell you yet but just a little insight next the Las Vegas Raiders will select well you know Oh Lou Fasciano yes I've been to tackle Penn State so there is that man Shane as like we're just talking about just two spots behind a Fuego so it's not like he is far second but it's close yeah you know it's a close for number one and I mean I could still see him going before oh yeah I'm kind of trying to go off of other people's projections right I completely understand I don't I like this I feel like a little sorry the Raiders could get a like Bob receiver or a offensive tackle like they could get like Malik neighbors if he falls to 15 or a room with doing today or Keon Coleman maybe no but still I like this pick I like it I don't mind the shame pick number 14 for the New Orleans Saints they select Ed Rusher Jared verse Jared verse out of Florida State great head rusher I think he was right him and Dallas Turner were kind of head head-to-head for the number one spot an edge rusher coming into this year I think Dallas Turner kind of pulled away a little bit but Jared versus still very good I can see him easily being picked before third 14 I remember I was awesome the Clemson Florida skate that's oh my gosh the Clemson Florida State game and I think he's he affords the strip sack on a K Club Nick and like somebody I picked it up for a touchdown there was not Jared first I think I was Jared first who a force a strip sack on a K Club Nick but a Jared verse is a game a game changer it and a game wrecker yes he is both of those thank you Shane but he is a man to not be wrecked with he is a scary man and I PTSD from him sure that the 30 next the the Indianapolis Colts select Quinon Mitchell cornerback from Toledo so here's another corner going second corner taking off the board Quinn on Mitchell from Toledo going to the Indianapolis Colts for for some people this might be him falling or this is exactly where he's supposed to go I know from a Colts fan that he said he wanted Cooper Dejean however if Terry if Quinion Mitchell's still on the board and so is Cooper Dejean I'm taking Quinion Mitchell every time I'm taking foot mmm that's tough I haven't seen I I don't think I've seen enough I don't think I've seen enough of Cooper Dejean in coverage he and a lot of people are saying he translate better to his safety so from a value standpoint and this is what could really hurt him in terms of draft stock is if teams are gonna plan on making him a safety they might wait to pick him into the second or late first yeah or even third if it gets that bad I don't think it'll ever get that bad because people are gonna want his his returning ability absolutely yeah okay pick number 16 for the Seattle Seahawks late to lot to Ed Rusher from UCLA late to lot to Ed Rusher UCLA I wasn't expecting them to go to Seattle again I it's new I like it for Seattle they had needs that they kind of would have been wasting the 16th pick in terms of what they think the potential of the position they need is going to be so I just had them taking best player available hey um no Bobby Wagner wasn't on okay I don't mind not take them because they do need as well as rushers they need a defensive part to get back to where they were all right pick number 17 what do you got there the Jaguars select Brian Thomas jr. Bob receiver from LSU I don't mind this I as a sort of kind of Jaguars fan I do want more more defensive right now because of our a corving so let me like a true one but like more like I feel like it's more of like I feel like a Jackson lean more on like my receiver um yeah defensives agreed you're listening to WCC you sports network on Coastal Carolina University student run radio station you're back here with us in the main studio yes I'm your host for the college football countdown tonight Shane McGee here with and I'm your co-host Davis Myers I'm back with our last and final segment until our three minute segments but now before the show closed I was trying to say that the Jaguars need more of a defensive attack right now but I don't mind this pick Shane I just feel the Jaguars are are geared towards a corner or a safety but a more core it's always okay it's always fine it's always good in any team agreed pick number 18 for the Cincinnati Bengals Troy Fatanu offensive tackle from Washington coming off of a championship run unfortunately they lost but yeah it's unfortunate but you know Fatanu is I think he's clearly offensive tackle number four in the in the draft but I don't like offensive there's gonna be a lot of offensive tackles going right first round yeah I I like this pick it's a more protection for Joe Burrow and this could be a really good Cincinnati team a very scary team and it could get the Chiefs a lot of trouble which we want to see hopefully so hopefully so a number 19 we are the Los Angeles Rams like Byron Murphy defensive line from Texas all right just to preface this they just lost Aaron Donald they just lost Aaron Donald the a lot of people's defensive goat in my opinion he's the greatest defensive player of this era and it's gonna be hard to replace that but if you can find a first-round rated defensive lineman and he's there with your pick you take him I think you don't you have to fill that gap it's hard to replace someone at the caliber of Aaron Donald but you try and repair it a little bit I agree pick number 20 Pittsburgh Steelers select JC Latham offensive tackle from Alabama never a bad pick to pick an offensive lineman from Alabama it never is never a bad pick they seem to produce a lot of productive offensive linemen and the Steelers are a team that struggled for the past couple of years with bad offensive play calling and a bad offensive line Najee Harris has kind of been streaky as a player after his great rookie season because there's no consistency in the play calling and the offensive line is not that great so getting rid of their offensive coordinator the next step has to be building an offensive line absolutely and having Justin Fields and Russell Wilson coming into the Steelers it's also detrimental to have offensive line help to protect the quarterback I agree all right number 21 the Dolphins select Amarius Mims offensive tackle Georgia okay another offensive tackle you could probably interchange the two that went back-to-back Amarius Mims solid tackle and a similar problem with Miami is you know they have good play calling but offensive line play is somewhat streaky to is a already at risk of early retirement and the offensive line needs to be as good as it can possibly be and I just didn't think it was last season I don't think it was either like 2-up is getting bullied every season he has some great weapons and his offensive line has not given him the help to find those receivers he needs more help and I like this pick I think it fits the Miami Dolphins very well I I couldn't agree more thanks pick number 22 the Philadelphia Eagles select cornerback Nate Wiggins from Clemson man you do it on purpose no I didn't I didn't do it on purpose I I've seen Nate Wiggins fall into the second round I don't know and why he's a quarterback one at a prestigious football school not only that he ran one of the fastest 40 times of the Combine this year in a 4-2-2 no no no a 4-2-9 4-2-9 I wish I was a 4-2-2 but regardless when a cornerback is running like that you know that he has the stride to keep up with the quick receivers in the league and I personally would love to have that on the Eagles I got a very nice step from Nate Wiggins Nate Wiggins chased down North Carolina running back and he forced him to fumble the ball at the goal line he ran approximately 23 miles per hour to catch up and a strip tackle him for a red zone fumble that's one of the best plays I've ever seen from any Clemson player he ran down he like he like he covered like like 25 yards he covered that much space and that much time 23 miles per hour he and I'm good man I miss him already I'm sure you do I I would love for the Eagles to get Nate Wiggins and it'll be awesome you know hopefully the draft lines up where it could be like that I have already kind of said my piece on on who I want the Eagles to get there's three players right and you know I picked one of them so absolutely a number 23 the New York Giants led Cooper Dejean cornerback Iowa there he is there's Cooper Dejean so I just think this pick makes sense for the Giants in terms of the wide receivers that they have to face on a yearly basis getting a cornerback in right potentially a safety at some point just shoring up the secondary in their defense and not only that but a dynamic returner and you know a lot of NFL teams like the majority of NFL teams do not have a dynamic returner and so I think this is the move that the Giants want to make in in in a way that they can improve their defense and their special teams all in one pick I like it I like a Cooper Dejean and they spawn a little bit he's fallen a few he's on a little bit but I like that pick pick number 24 for the Dallas Cowboys Center Jackson Powers Johnson from Oregon this guy has risen up draft boards a little bit and I think it's because of the lack of interior offensive linemen being seen at the moment any team that gets him will be thankful they got him he's he's awesome unfortunately he he's gonna go to the Cowboys I think he's mocked to the Cowboys quite a lot no and you know it's a move that makes sense for them after losing Tyron Smith right but going to the Cowboys is kind of a saying as oh yeah oh that's no playoff wins for you that's no rings you know I'm number 25 the Green Bay Packers select Graham Burton Center from Duke Graham Barton another center and another sensor the Packers lost their sensor or let me just need a better one I don't know if they lost their center I'm I'm not sure if they got rid of David Bakhtiari either I heard a couple of things about that okay you know the Packers there's no real pressing need other than receiver right now and they'd kind of be reaching for a receiver at pick 25 so I just decided you know improvements to the offensive line or what every team could use they could get a D 80 Mitchell or they could get Xavier worthy if they're geared towards Bob receiver you know yeah or or even Keon Coleman I wouldn't see I don't even see Keon Coleman in the first round much so much I understand yeah of course wide receivers are a little bit of a wild card but we will be right back you're listening to WCCU Sports Network on Coastal Carolina University student run radio station back here with us in the main studio today studio I'm the host for today Shane McGee here with and I'm Davis Myers with our last final segment final segment of the day we're going to speed run through these next picks we have picks 26 to 32 that's definitely doable that's doable that's doable let's do it all right number 26 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kool-Aid McKinstry quarterback from Alabama this one's pretty simple to explain he's a quarter corner Oh pretty simple to explain previously ranked number one quarterback in the class hasn't really fell off I'm pretty sure he was injured throughout the season yeah and has caused his draft stock to fall a little bit and I think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers get an absolute steal at 26 I'm with you so there's a Cardinals the music still on by the way I think the music yeah sorry about that guys the Cardinals to select there's all new in this I'm sorry there's all new defensive line from Illinois I like this I have seen them play a few games just so I ran them up big 10 games and he is a stud and the Cardinals will have Marvin Harrison jr. and a solid offensive lineman in there's on Newton yes sir pick number 28 the Buffalo Bills select wide receiver Adonai Mitchell that from Texas I really like that picture he reminds me a little bit of um wait no he doesn't remind me of him yes he does of a t-huggins kind of you know yeah okay on the message yep sorry the the twit line select chop Robinson yes okay it's chop Robinson I'm edge from the University and chop Robinson has a fall drop down a little bit of a drop I've seen him mocked in this in this spot after a great combine I thought he should have risen a little bit however he hasn't so I think I'd like to leave it at that because I will cry me too number 30 pick the Baltimore Ravens select offensive tackle Tyler Guyton out of Oklahoma he was very solid for Oklahoma very number 31 Enos Rickshar oh sorry on the same person at the San Francisco 49ers select Enos Rickshar jr. cornerback from Missouri State New Missouri and a 32 for Shane 32 wide receiver Xavier worthy out of Texas a demon for two one and we will be back next week thank you
