NatureLab is a project funded by Horizon Europe that aims to enhance and expand green and blue areas in cities to promote resilience to climate change, biodiversity, and urban water management. It also connects these dimensions to health and societal pillars. The project recognizes the potential of nature areas for healthcare, which is often overlooked. NatureLab is collaborating with two other projects, Me and Resonate, and UKRI is funding the participation of the British associated partner since UK organizations are not eligible for Horizon Europe funding. Very good, that sounds fascinating. So now I would like to dive into the project itself and I would like to ask, what is NatureLab exactly and how does it fit into the context of a Horizon Europe project? Okay, so in big lines, NatureLab is a project that proposes an integrative and innovative approach to contribute to resilient communities by enhancing and expanding the green and blue areas' benefits, hence the resilience to climate change, the promotion of biodiversity and urban water management. And the project is linking all these dimensions to a health pillar and a societal pillar. And I think it's important to keep in mind that nowadays, over 50% of the world's population lives in cities. And it's estimated that by 2050, two-thirds of humanity, which will be around 6.5 billion people, are expected to be urban. So cities are increasing their blue and green areas and they are very focused on climate change mitigation adaptation and also in using nature-based solutions for also water sustainable management. However, the health care potential of nature areas is not usually considered. And in NatureLab, we are connecting all these dimensions, which I think is really great. I would also like to say that this project has been funded by the Horizon Europe program and the Cluster6 and on the call, Department 22, Communities to Stage. And it's a research, innovation, action project. And also it's important to know that NatureLab is joined by two other system projects that work from this end of the same call and with whom we are involved in good collaboration. And these other projects are the Me and Resonate. And in fact, it's very interesting to acknowledge both similarities and complementariness among the system projects. Yeah. I totally agree. Also, I would like to ask, what is the role of UKRI, which is the United Kingdom Research and Innovation? Sure, sure. Yes. You know that we have, NatureLab has a British associated partner, and the participation of this organization is funded by UKRI since United Kingdom organizations are not eligible for funding and the Horizon Europe. This is the reason why we have this funding. Great.
