The speaker discusses whether social media programs can be effectively used in the classroom. They believe that social media is more suited for outreach and keeping in touch, rather than for educational purposes. They argue that using platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok in class would be distracting and prevent students from focusing on the lesson. Although the speaker personally uses these programs, they do not believe they are beneficial for the classroom. This concludes the first episode of the podcast. Good morning, class. Today I'm going to discuss in this podcast this morning, can social media programs be utilized effectively in the classroom? Are there any types of classrooms that are more suited for this, for their use than others? In today's education of what I've learned through college and a little bit about the history of what I've talked about and some of the discussions, social media today is more of an outreach, how well you're doing, progression, keeping in touch. So using these types of social media, whether it be Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, any kind of platforms that are out there, I don't think that those are good quality programs that should be used in classes due to possibly being more of a distraction. If I'm teaching a class and I'm trying to get something through to the class and I'm using TikTok or Facebook or Snapchat, I think that at times those students would be a little more distracted and looking at other things versus what I'm trying to portray towards them. So using these social media platforms I don't think would be very effective in the class. Myself, I do use these. I do use these specific programs, the ones that I listed, Facebook, TikTok, and Snapchat as well as some other ins and outs, you know, that I would use personally. But I don't think that these programs would be in any way beneficial to the classroom. I hope you have a wonderful day. This concludes podcast season one, episode one.
