Leah shares her experience living in Schmidt Hall, despite initially hearing negative things. She finds the rooms and bathrooms to be decent, with the added bonus of brick walls. Making connections with others was challenging at first due to homesickness, but she eventually formed bonds with her roommate and other residents, even having family dinners together. There has been some drama and police action in Schmidt, but Leah sees it as a normal part of college life. The only challenge she mentions is dealing with a ladybug infestation. Overall, she gets along well with her floor mates, who call themselves the Squirters. Leah briefly mentions a kid named Marco and her friend Kay, but doesn't go into detail. Welcome to the truth of Schmidt Hall. I'm your host Javon and today we have a special guest with us, Leah. Give it up for Leah everybody. Thank you. Today she's going to be sharing her experience in Schmidt Hall. As you know, we're all familiar with living in residential halls. So each building has their own story to tell. Join us as we uncover the hidden gems in this fascinating hall. I welcome Leah. So how are you, Leah? I'm good. How are you? Good. So Leah, what inspired you to stay at Schmidt Hall? Well, I didn't really have the option to stay at Schmidt Hall. I got assigned it and the first time that I heard that I got assigned it, I texted one of my friends who is an upperclassman here at West Chester University and she told me that Schmidt has a reputation of being shitty. It was known as shitty Schmitty. I was a little nervous moving in and then finally moving day came and it was not as bad as I thought. The downstairs and the elevators are a little iffy, but the rooms and the bathrooms aren't that bad. And we get brick walls compared to every other hall. They have those boring cinder block walls like high schoolers, but it's not high school anymore. Yeah, I mean there could be some downsides, but that sounds like it was a fun story already. So, tell me about the people in Schmidt. Have you been able to make any connections? The first few weeks were tough to make some connections because I was in and out as I was a little homesick so I was going home a lot. But then as I settled down here, I started meeting people in my hallway. The kids across from me, they're pretty nice. And my roommate and I have gotten a lot closer. But my hall and I, we go to family dinners sometimes in the dining hall, which is a great way to meet people and we all definitely form a family bond. Okay, that sounds like it's great already. Has there been any drama recently in Schmidt? I mean, drama comes with teenagers, so yeah, there's definitely been some. I've heard there's been a lot of police action here in Schmidt, but I guess you win some, you lose some in college. Apparently, there was a girl on our floor that got taken out, but she doesn't even live here. I don't really know. R.I.P. I guess. But, uh, yeah, no. I mean... But yeah, it's so much fun! Okay, that sounds like a tight community. Were there any challenges or unexpected situations you had to deal with living here? Um, well, no. Not necessarily challenges because of Schmidt Hall. We have a ladybug infestation. Oh, yeah, I heard that. That's crazy. It's not like that bad. It's kind of the brooches, but they're annoying. They're attracted to the light and we're on the sunny side of the building over here at 503H. Oh, okay. Yeah, but no, nothing really that challenging. Just homesickness, you know, the norm for college kids. Yeah, that's normal. Everybody, you know... Yeah, everyone experiences it. Yeah, everybody experiences it. So, did I ask you this already? How do you get along with the people on your floor? They're all really nice. They're all nice? Okay. Yeah, we're called the Squirters. What do you call yourselves? Is it like a clan or...? Yeah, it's the Squirters. The who? We're the Squirters. The Squirters? Yeah, this kid named Marco came up with a name I don't like in my mind. Oh, okay. Uh, Squirters. Okay, where did that originate from? Well, um, Marco thinks he's gonna... So, tell me about this Marco kid more. Well, he's a really good kid. His roommate smells. Oh, no, that's Kay texting me. Okay. Oh, tell me about Kay. Aw, we're not gonna get into my stuff. Oh, no, she doesn't. Oh, I've seen her here a few times. Can we redo this? Do you want to? I'm saving it, though. Save this, but now I know what you're gonna ask me. Okay, do you want me to write down what you should ask me?
