Jeremias Gotthelf

Albert Bitzius, a Swiss novelist, gained fame under the pen name Jeremias Gotthelf. Although he began his writing career later in life, his literary contributions were significant. In 1837, he published his first work titled "Der Bauernspiegel, oder die Lebensgeschichte des Jeremias Gotthelf." This book claimed to be the life story of Jeremias Gotthelf, as narrated by the protagonist himself. Intriguingly, Bitzius later decided to adopt the name Jeremias Gotthelf as his pen name, solidifying his identity as a writer.
