They are looking to promote the league and increase participation by adding new sports like spike ball and ultimate frisbee. The league emphasizes camaraderie, sportsmanship, and community engagement. They are working with the student coordinator to expand and innovate the league. A poll conducted among fraternity members showed overwhelming support for adding new sports. Overall, the Keller Sports League aims to create a vibrant and inclusive athletic and social community within the Greek life at Rutgers. Attention Rutgers community, particularly all fraternity members, we're thrilled to announce our upcoming podcast episode where we'll engage with multiple fraternities to promote Keller sports and explore the possibility of introducing new sports to the lineup. Join us as we discuss Keller sports inclusive nature and its role in fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and community engagement. Furthermore, our podcast will speak to fraternity members about the potential growth and expansion opportunities within Keller sports, including the possible addition of a sorority league. We'll discuss the strategies for promoting engagement and participation among fraternity members, as well as exploring new sports additions such as spike ball and ultimate frisbee to enrich the Keller sports experience. Hello, my name is Jamie Montanez and today my podcast will be on the Keller sports league. My website is jamiemontanez.wordpress.com and you can find more information on the intramural sports league at the Instagram RUIM sports. So today I'll be discussing a big interest of mine involving Keller sports league which is a nonprofit organization here at Rutgers. I will discuss what Keller sports is, the purpose of this podcast, a short PSA, as well as my interactions with the student coordinator who is the head of the Keller sports league. At the end I'll be giving a brief interview to one of my fraternity members who also participates in many of the sports in the Keller sports league and also will be going through a voting poll that I created and was sent to my fraternity. So our purpose is to raise awareness and provide exposure for the Keller sports league which is an integral element of Rutgers intramural culture. We wish to increase participation in each sport in order to foster friendly competition within our fraternity community by leveraging Instagram as a dynamic platform for marketing. We hope to establish a vibrant online presence that not only represents the passion and energy of the league but also gives our members a sense of belonging and inclusivity. We let other fraternities know about the addition of the new sports like spike ball by using podcasts and PSAs. We'll cover topics in our podcasts such as the introduction of a new sport and the reasons why increased involvement in the league will help everyone. Of course all fraternities and Greek life members will be the target audience. Our PSA can also be distributed to other fraternities in order to boost involvement. In the end we want to make the Greek life community stronger, more cohesive, and more likely to make lifetime friendships in addition to producing amazing moments on the field. So some of you guys may be asking what is Keller sports? The Keller sports league is an intramural sports league that operates within the context of Greek life fraternities. It provides opportunities for fraternity members to engage in organized sports competitions within the community. The league typically offers a variety of sports ranging from traditional sports like basketball, soccer, volleyball, and also hopefully to include more niche sports like ultimate frisbee, spike ball, and maybe even a sorority flag football league. What distinguishes the Keller sports league over the normal intramural sports is the culture around the camaraderie, sportsmanship, and community engagement that all the fraternity brothers have. It serves as a platform where individuals from different fraternities can come together, compete, and build meaningful connections through the athletic experiences. The league is often seen as more than just a sports organization. It's a social hub where friendships are formed, teamwork is emphasized, and the spirit of competition is celebrated. In addition to promoting physical activity and healthy competition, the Keller sports league plays a significant role in strengthening the bonds within the Greek life community and promoting a sense of belonging with its members. Now that I've explained what Keller sports is, I would like to concentrate this podcast for the implementation of a new sport such as spike ball and ultimate frisbee. The integration of new sports like spike ball and ultimate frisbee inject a fresh dose of excitement and diversity into the league's offerings, which appeals to the individuals seeking alternative athletic experiences that goes beyond the traditional sports like basketball or soccer. By embracing these popular and youth-oriented sports, the league positions itself as a dynamic and relevant player in the intramural sports scene, aligning with the interests of its target demographics of college students and young professionals. The accessibility and low-cost nature of spike ball and ultimate frisbee make them attractive options for a wide range of students, further broadening the league's appeal and inclusivity. These sports also foster a strong sense of camaraderie and social interaction, enhancing the overall experience of the league participation. By embracing innovation and adapting to changing trends, the Keller sports league opens up new avenues for engagement, attracting new members and cementing its status as a vibrant hub for athletic and social connection within the Greek life community. To gain more insight to the league as a whole, we came in contact with the student coordinator Kruthik Lysandra. In our quest to expand the Keller sports league and introduce new sports, we initiated contact with the coordinator, which role encompasses overseeing the league's operations and facilitating its growth. During our conversations, the student coordinator expressed enthusiasm and eagerness to see the league grow in size and scope. He emphasized the importance of continuously innovating and diversifying the league's offering to cater to the evolving interests and preferences of its students. I believe spike ball is a very trendy sport right now and would be great for the Keller league. When we introduced the topic of new sports, he wholeheartedly endorsed the inclusion of ultimate frisbee and spike ball. Recognizing their potential to attract new participants and enhance the overall league experience, he was involved and wanted to know more. The student coordinator's main focus was to promote the league as a whole and get more people involved within Greek life. He was very on board with the new sports but also wanted to grow the Instagram as well. In summary, our interaction with the student coordinator reaffirmed our shared commitment to the growth and development of the sports league. Now we will be moving on to a new segment which I'll be interviewing a fraternity member of mine named Lorenzo Johnson and he will be giving his insight on Keller sports as a whole and his interactions that he's had as a student. Can you tell us about your experience playing sports within the Keller league and how it contributed to your fraternity involvement? No yeah absolutely. Being involved in Keller sports has been an incredible experience for me. Definitely gave me a opportunity to play a sport that I loved in high school and growing up like soccer. Also provides a fantastic platform for bonding with my fraternity brothers. Gave us something that we all agreed and have fun on playing. Strategizing on a field and cheering each other on from the sidelines playing sports together has always strengthened our fraternities and fostered our lasting friendships. It's just something that I always enjoy doing and it is very competitive. From your perspective, what makes the Keller sports league unique compared to the other intramural sports opportunities on campus? Yeah so what sets Keller is its emphasis on community. It's just not about the competition, it's about creating a supportive environment where we all feel welcomed and valued. The Keller-like connection to Greek life further enhances this sense of belonging where everyone feels like they're part of something a lot more bigger than just being a part of fraternity and it builds relationships beyond the fraternity houses. I agree. So how do you think the addition of new sports like Ultimate Frisbee and Spikeball would enhance the overall appeal and diversity of the league? Yeah definitely something like Ultimate Frisbee and Spikeball would enhance overall appeal and diversity to the league. People would definitely be willing to come and play more Keller sports, more people throughout their fraternities just because something like this wouldn't be taken as serious compared to soccer, basketball, or football. So you know kids who wasn't really athletic or anything or played sports in high school and stuff is definitely something that they would probably try to do and something to enjoy and just be for fun. I think this will bring more people willing to come out and play the sport like Frisbee and Spikeball you know just get out there get active and make kids have enjoy their time. So for our last segment I created a poll to gauge the interest in adding new sports like Spikeball and Frisbee and the poll was conducted through an online platform using GroupMe and after the poll closed it was revealed that the majority of the fraternities voted in favor of adding the new sports to the league. This demonstrates a widespread enthusiasm and support for diversifying the league's offerings. Showcasing the fraternity community's eagerness to embrace new sports and expand the scope of athletic opportunities is great for the Keller League. So the poll said if they wanted to add the new sports and 55 out of the 60 people wanted to add the new sports and were in favor of it. I think this is a great way to show and prove that a lot of students are behind the movement and would get behind the new sports. So to conclude the overwhelming support from the fraternity brothers in the inclusion of a new sport was great and is exciting for the next chapter of the Keller Sports League. By promoting these new additions and showcasing the diverse range of athletic opportunities available within the league we aim to attract even more participates and foster a stronger sense of community. As we continue to innovate and adapt we're confident that the Keller Sports League will flourish becoming not only a premier destination for intramural sports but a great hub for friendship competition and great experiences. Together let's build a future where every athlete finds their place and everyone in Greek life has a great time in the Keller Sports League. Thank you everyone.
