The podcast episode discusses practical self-defense techniques for teenage girls. It mentions that teenage girls between the ages of 16 and 19 are particularly vulnerable to sexual assault. The host asks for personal stories or experiences related to safety and self-defense. One of the roommates shares that she and her friends had self-defense classes when they were younger, and she emphasizes the importance of self-defense for women. Welcome to the show where we talk about self-defense. Hi, everyone. Welcome to the Women's Self-Defense Podcast. Today I'm going to be discussing some practical self-defense techniques and strategies that teenage girls can easily incorporate into their daily lives. And I'm here with my roommates, Kimmy and Ajaad, Ava Poulponam. According to RAINN, individuals age 12 to 34 are at the highest risk for a sexual assault, with teenage girls between 16 and 19 being particularly vulnerable. Can you share any personal stories or experiences related to safety and self-defense that have had a significant impact on you or someone you know? Well, I remember when I was younger, a lot of my friends, I think our parents would sign them up for self-defense classes, or when I was younger in school, we would learn self-defense classes. And I think, like, as a woman especially, it's super important. Like a younger woman, I've never experienced a situation where I'd need to be using self-defense, but I feel like that makes me even more vulnerable because then I don't know when to expect it or what things to look for. Thank you so much for your feedback, Kimia.
