Super excited to talk about supercomputers literally. Absolutely, Jantel. Supercomputers are fascinating piece of technology and I can't wait to chat with both of you. Fantastic. So, let's start by understanding what supercomputers are. Supercomputers are incredibly powerful computers. Designed to process massive amounts of data at extremely speeds. They are often used for complex scientific simulations. For instance, weather forecasting and advanced research. That's amazing. Wow. By the way, what exactly does supercomputer mean, Younger? Well, in simple terms, a supercomputer is like the superhero of the computing world. The benefits of supercomputers are immense. They enable scientists to tackle some of the world's most pressing challenges from climate change to medical research. What about you, Jordan? Do you have any thoughts about supercomputers? Right, absolutely. And let me tell you guys a big story. Did you know that supercomputers played a crucial role in sequencing the human genome? This monumental achievement paved the way for advancements in personalized medicine and disease research. Oh, that's an impressive thought, Sridhar. Can you give us an idea about how powerful these machines are? I mean, let's compare it to a normal computer, can we? Absolutely. Imagine your laptop or your desktop computer processor. Now, multiply that power by thousands or even millions. That's the level we are talking about with supercomputers. They can perform trillions of calculations per second. Oh yeah, it's not just about processing power. Supercomputers are also efficient at handling large data sets and running complex algorithms, enabling researchers and scientists to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing humanity. So, additionally, can you give us some examples of practical uses for supercomputers, Sridhar? Yes, indeed. Some of the main uses of supercomputers include weather forecasting, simulating nuclear explosions for arms control, and even designing new materials with specific properties, designing and testing prototypes, and speeding the development process. Oh, what about you, Youngbin? Any thoughts? Well, one prime example is in the field of healthcare. Supercomputers are used for tasks like molecular modeling, generating data to identify potential treatments for diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, and even COVID-19, and personalized medicine. Oh, that's amazing. What about supercomputer curiosities? Because I believe there are many to explore. Youngbin? Here are some curiosities about some of the supercomputers built and launched by IBM in 2010. 250 petabytes storage capacity, 200 quadrillion calculations per second, about 37,000 processors used, 15,000 liters of water to cool all 37,000 processors. Incredibly amazing. Looking forward. What can we expect from the future of supercomputers, Youngbin? The future looks incredibly promising. Supercomputers will continue to push the boundaries of scientific discovery and innovation. What's your amazing point of view, Gerdau? However, it is essential to note the rise of quantum computers. While supercomputers excel at certain tasks, quantum computers offer the potential for exponential speed-ups in solving specific problems.
