James Whitcomb Riley

James Whitcomb Riley was an acclaimed American writer and poet who lived from October 7, 1849, to July 22, 1916. He gained recognition as the "Hoosier Poet" and "Children's Poet" for his unique writing style and his delightful poetry for children. Riley's poems were often filled with humor and sentimentality, and out of the many poems he wrote, around one thousand, most were written in dialect. Some of his most famous works include "Little Orphant Annie" and "The Raggedy Man."
