Anything Once

Isabel OstranderIsabel Ostrander

"Anything Once" is a short story written by Isabel Ostrander under the pseudonym Douglas Grant. The story follows two unlikely companions, Lou and Jim Botts, on a week-long journey from a rural village to a big city. Lou is an orphan girl who appears to be in need of better clothing and refinement, while Jim Botts seems to be following some apparent “rules” during the journey. The story raises questions about who is most benefiting from the journey and which of the two is willing to try anything once. The story's introduction is by Roger Melin.
