Jean Racine, also known by his baptismal name Jean-Baptiste Racine, was a renowned French dramatist who lived from 22 December 1639 to 21 April 1699. He was recognized as one of the three most prominent playwrights of 17th-century France, alongside Molière and Corneille, and was a significant literary figure in the Western tradition.
