This book of the Lord shall not depart out of my mouth, but I shall meditate in it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous, and then I will have good success. Amen. The topic for today's devotion is the Sacred Place of the Most High. Taking from Psalm 91 verse 1 to 16. Psalm 91 verse 1 to 16. And I read from the King James Version. He that dwelleth in the Sacred Place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. And I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the foulest and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust. His truth shall be thy shield and battler. Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night, or the arrow that flyeth by day, nor the pestilence that walketh in darkness, or the destruction that wasteth a noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, ten thousand at thy right hand, but they shall not come nigh thee. Only with an eye shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord which is thy refuge, even the Most High thy habitation. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash their foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the other, the young lion and the dragon, shall thou trample on their feet. Because He has set His love upon me, therefore will I deliver Him. I will set Him on high, because He hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer Him. I will be with Him in trouble, I will deliver Him. With long life will I satisfy Him, and show Him my salvation. Amen. The Secret Place of the Most High The first line of Psalm 91 says, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High. We suggest that the believer must take a deliberate step to dwell in the secret place of the Most High. What exactly is this secret place, and how does one get access to it? The secret place of the Most High is where the believer permanently lives in close proximity to God. It is not time-bound or a physical location, but rather a state of mind and heart that is achieved through prayer, fasting, studying, and obedience to God's Word, as well as fellowship with other fellows. The Bible continues to teach that the person who dwells in this place abides under the shadow of the Almighty. As a person's shadow reveals their physical presence nearby, we can infer that the shadow of the Almighty represents God's presence that the believer experiences when they intentionally seek close fellowship with Him on a daily basis. Dwelling in the secret place and experiencing the shadow of the Almighty gives the believer the confidence to call the Lord via refuge and fortress. That is a place of defense and protection. Beloved, dwelling in the presence of God as seen in the verses 3 to 16 is beneficial. Through constant fellowship with God, the believer receives protection and deliverance from various dangers such as traps, pestilence, and destruction. The believer is shielded by God's truth, and they need not fear anything by day or night. As a thousand may fall at their side, but they will not come near them. Angels are assigned to watch and protect them, and they will have victory over their enemies. God promises to deliver, honor, and satisfy those who love and call upon Him and to show Him His salvation and grant them long life. It is my prayer that we gain God's grace to dwell in His presence daily. Amen. We'll take our memory verse from Psalm 91, verse 1 to 2.
