Shalom Beloved, Thank you for joining us here on Radio HCI today. We are Deacon and Deaconess Kilsin from the Harvest Chapel International, Denia Mikoumasse, and we are privileged to be coming your way with today's episode of our Morning Glory Devotion. Let us kindly say a word of prayer. Gracious Heavenly Father, we count it great joy to be right here in your presence. Please enlighten us with your word. In Jesus' name, Amen. Let us kindly take our confession for today from Joshua 1 verse 8.
Joshua 1 verse 8 This book of the Lord shall not depart from my mouth, but I shall meditate in it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous, and then I will have good success. Amen. Today's message is titled, Mr. or Mrs. Job. Mr. or Mrs. Job. And our scripture reading shall be taken from Job chapter 2 verse 8 to 10.
Job chapter 2 verse 8 to 10. I will be reading from the New King James Version. And he took for himself a pot-shed with which to scrape himself while he sat in the midst of the ashes. And his wife said to him, Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die. But he said to her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity? In all this, Job did not sing with his lips.
The Lord add his blessings to the reading and hearing of his word. Thanks be to God. Amen. Mr. or Mrs. Job. Mr. or Mrs. Job. Almost everyone at one point in his or her life may have come to realize that we have a threshold or boiling point beyond which we cannot take it anymore. A point at which we lose our calm and go almost haywire, breaking our cool and sometimes our morals, where we say what we shouldn't or do the unimaginable, leaving us surprised by our actions and maybe some regret.
In the book of Job, we see how calamity hits the life of Job in ways he never thought possible. All in one day, he lost all his wealth, business enterprises, and the worst part, his ten children he so much adored. What could be more painful than this? It hit him to the core, not just him, but his wife too. And even though they were both hit by this catastrophe, their reactions were different. For Mrs. Job, her verdict was simple.
What else was there to live for? What was there to lose again? Just curse God and die. For Mr. Job, he would do no such thing, not even think of it, for his verdict was that even though he slays me, I will trust him. And so the question remains, when and not if, I mean when the storms of life hit hard at us, when those promises are unfulfilled, delayed way past our expectations, when our prayers are still unanswered, and our enemies laugh at us to scorn, how low or high will our boiling point be? What will our reaction be? Will we be able to endure till the end or lose our cool and maybe our faith in God? Will we be like Mr.
Job or Mrs. Job? It is easy for us to desire to be like Mr. Job, but keeping a peaceful countenance in the midst of turmoil takes more than mere wishes. It will take one who had garnered strength before the storms hit, one who over time had built a good relationship with the Lord and a fervent trust in Him, one who like meek Moses knew the ways of the Lord, Psalm 103 verse 7, one who like righteous Job had counted the Lord faithful, one who like our Lord Jesus was so obedient to God even to death on the cross.
Precious Beloved, the rope that anchors the ship of life is not woven in the midst of the storm but way before it occurs. Permit me to repeat that, the rope that anchors the ship of life is not woven in the midst of the storm but way before it occurs. Our daily walk with the Lord, our devotion to God's Word, periods of fasting and prayer, and our fellowship with the brethren offer us the opportunity to weave strong cords of faith which will hold fast our anchors way before the storms ever hit.
And so knowing what we have woven over the years, we can confidently tell whether we will be like Mr. or Mrs. Job, or even better, like our Lord Jesus Christ. God richly bless you. Let us kindly take our memory verse for today. Our memory verse for today shall be taken from Job chapter 13 verse 15a. Job chapter 13 verse 15a. I shall be reading from the New King James Version. Though he slay me, yet will I trust him.
Though he slay me, yet will I trust him. Amen. Let us kindly share a word of prayer. Forever faithful Father, we have been blessed by your Word. Thank you for teaching us the best strategy of overcoming all of life's storms. We receive grace to make use of the opportunities you present us today, to weave strong cords of faith, to hold fast our anchors, that in the face of any storm, we be ready like righteous Job, or even better, like you.
In Jesus' name, Amen. God richly bless you for making time for today's Morning Glory Devotion. Step out reflecting on God's Word. We look forward to you joining us again for another episode of our Morning Glory Devotion on Radio ATI today, every Monday to Saturday at 6.30am, accessible via the Radio King app. Till we meet again, keep living for Jesus.
