As a 12-year-old, the speaker discovered U2's Joshua Tree album while going through their brother's music tapes. Despite receiving a beating from their brother, the music took them to a whole new world they never knew music could do. The first time I heard of U2 was as a 12-year-old boy rummaging through my brother's music tapes, and I came across the Joshua Tree album by Sheer Rebellion, and due to a consequence of a brotherly beating later on. Yet the beginning notes of The Streets Have No Name to the lyrical poetry of Running to Stand Still transported me to a different dimension that I never knew that music could do.
