Nothing to say, yet
The Daily Devotion for October 31st, 2023 is based on Psalm 23. The psalm describes the Lord as a shepherd who takes care of his sheep. It emphasizes that we are dependent on the Lord for guidance and protection. The psalm also highlights the comforting presence of the Lord in times of trouble and the assurance of eternal life with Him. The message encourages us to trust in the Lord and find peace and joy in His guidance. Welcome to Christ Church's Daily Devotion for October 31st, 2023. Today we will be reading from Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right path for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. This psalm is the most well-known and beloved psalm. The Lord is pictured as our shepherd, and we are his sheep. Take some time to learn about the true nature of sheep, and you will understand more about yourself. Sheep are helpless without their shepherd. They continually get themselves in trouble. Did you know that if a sheep falls and ends up on his back with his feet in the air, he cannot turn himself over? He will die that way, unless someone comes and turns him over. Our shepherd, the Lord Jesus, cares for us like no earthly shepherd ever could. When we are sick or in trouble, he comforts us. When we go astray, he gently turns and directs us until we are again on the right path. And when we enter the valley of the shadow of death, he guides and directs our way. We never need to fear, for he will guide us all of the days of our lives upon this earth and will then lead us safely into his courts to live with him forever. Christ is our faithful shepherd who knows who his true sheep are and never neglects or abandons them. With the psalmist, we may say in confidence, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. What an amazing God we serve. Today's personal worship option, pray that today you will walk in peace and joy because your shepherd is faithfully there to lead and guide you in the way you should go.
