The Daily Devotion from Christ Church on January 26, 2024, focuses on the passage from 1 John 3:1-3. It emphasizes that God has shown great love by calling us His children. The world may not recognize us because it does not know Him. As children of God, our identity and self-worth are rooted in His love. Our hope lies in our relationship with Christ, as we strive to become more like Him. This transformation will be complete when we see Jesus face to face. Today, we are encouraged to reflect on being God's child, thank Him for His love, and embrace the hope of Christ. Welcome to Christ Church's Daily Devotion for January 26, 2024. Today we will be reading from 1 John 3, verses 1-3. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God. And that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. All who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure. Our hope is in what Jesus did for us, because it is in our relationship with Him that we are made right with God. God looks at us through Christ, so our confidence, our hope, is not in ourselves, but in our relationship with Christ. The Christian life is a process of becoming more and more like Christ. This process of becoming will not be complete until we see Jesus face to face. However, it is in this relationship that we have hope. The first verse of this passage tells us that we are members of God's family. The second verse tells us who we are becoming, the reflection of God. As children of God, our self-worth is based on the fact that God loves us and calls us His children. We are His children now, not just some time in the future. Knowing that we are His children should encourage us in the life that we are called to live. Your personal worship option today is to reflect on what it means to be God's child. Thank the Father for His love and care. Embrace the hope of Christ for this day.
