Nothing to say, yet
Jesus performed his first public miracle by turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana. This story teaches us to believe in the impossible with God, follow Jesus' commands, and have faith in prayer. It also shows that Jesus will provide for us and meet our needs. The turning of water into wine was significant because it saved the wedding from embarrassment and Jesus' mother had confidence in him. We should focus on the winemaker, God, and trust that he can give us a new life. Welcome to Christ Church's Daily Devotion for January 11th, 2024. Today we will be reading from John chapter 2 verse 1 through 10. On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, They have no more wine. Woman, why do you involve me? Jesus replied, My hour has not yet come. His mother said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you. Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, Fill the jars with water. So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, Everyone brings out the choice wine first, and then the cheaper wine after. The guests have had too much to drink, but you have saved the best till now. In the Gospel of John, Jesus changed the water into wine at the wedding at Cana in Galilee. Applying this to real life, the story teaches us a few things. First is to believe that nothing is impossible with God, such as when Jesus turned the water into wine. Second is that we should follow all the commands of Jesus, just as his disciples did. Third, ask through prayers, have faith, follow his commands, and you will receive abundant blessings, more than that you have asked for. Things may look impossible, but with God, everything is possible. Jesus will always make a way to provide for us, his sons and daughters. It is often discussed why the turning of water into wine would have been the first public miracle. The miracle saved the wedding, host a huge embarrassment, and Jesus' mother had asked him to help. She had confidence as she told the servants to do what he asked them to do. We may not always get what we want, but when we turn to the Lord, our needs are met so that we can pursue a deeper relationship with him. Today's personal worship option, even after the destructive storms of life, God can give us all we need to live a new life. Help us to pay less attention to the wine story, but instead focus on the winemaker. Amen.
