Hello and welcome to Join This Chariot for a 5-Minute Bible Study. This episode 31 on A Step of Faith is titled, No Resources. My name is Greg Alabi and I'm inviting you to come let us study the Bible together. I have met a lot of people who truly would like to take a step of faith to accomplish a great dream. They are not the lazy type nor is it mere wishful thinking. In fact, the idea they have is God-given. If they become successful, it will bring a major desire to breakthrough, transformation and progress that not only will benefit them but several other people will also benefit from it. So, here you are, with big plans and great faith but with very little or no resources available. How then would you go about taking a step of faith to accomplish your dreams? Postpone it until manna falls from heaven or wait till somebody shows up to assist you? Some years ago, I was at a program where people were praying that God should provide resources to their benefactors so that their benefactors will have some enough to spare and pass down to them. God, please bless and prosper those who want to help me so that they can have enough to spare with me. I was shocked to hear people pray that way. May rich people always remember me in Jesus name. How? Dear friends, you do not need a second-hand blessing from God. God can raise the poor from the dust and set him among princes and make him inherit the throne of glory. This same God is your father. Now let us learn some valuable lessons from a poor widow who had two sons whose late husband was a holy man of God but his creditors came for her two sons to make them work for the creditors to pay off the debts that their father owed. 2 Kings chapter 4 in verse 2, the prophet Elisha came to the rescue and asked the poor widow in the New International Version, saying, How can I help you? Tell me what do you have in your house? She said, I have nothing at all except a small jar of olive oil. Okay, go borrow empty containers from your neighbors, as many as possible. Go inside your house, shut the door, and start pouring the olive oil into each empty container. Set aside each filled-up container and sell them to pay off the debts. Then leave on the rest money you and your sons. Now let us learn some valuable lessons here. First lesson, when you read through the Bible, all debts were paid off by God performing miracles, not by borrowing more money to pay debts. My point? Looking unto Jesus. Second lesson, read through the Bible, God uses what people already have to get them what they need. My point? Like David, God can use your sling and five stones to break down your Goliath. Third lesson, when you read through the Bible, you see God using people's skills to deliver them from debts. My point? Like Peter, the fisherman, he found the silver coin to pay taxes in the mouth of a fish. My advice? Go fishing. Take a step. Fourth lesson, if God must use what other people have for you, like this widow in 2 Kings 4 verse 3, God will use their empty vessels, not the filled-up vessels. The lesson? We must stop expecting people to inconvenience themselves because of us. They can only offer what is convenient for them. They are human. Fifth lesson, verse 4, when you get home, shut the door and pour the olive oil into empty vessels. The lesson? Go get started. Your home can be your first workplace, your first office, your first shop. You do not need money to rent space to start up or to take off. Start where you are. Now hear me. I know a hairdresser who started in one room in her house. Today, she has five houses and a big boutique, all within few years. Sixth lesson is in verse 7, go sell the oil and pay the debts, live on the rest. The lesson? Market what you have. Market your skills. Market your goods. Market your services. Market what you are able to do. Take what you have to offer to those who will value it and pay you for it. My point? No need to depend on people. One with God is majority. May the Lord lead you to places where you'll be valued and where you'll be rewarded for what you have. In Jesus name. Amen. I want to invite you to please visit our website. Visit our website.
