Drake, a guest on the FBI Podcast, discusses his upbringing in a poor neighborhood in Toronto. He mentions Michael Jackson as one of his idols and admits that his music is slightly influenced by him. Drake listened to pop and rap growing up, but his own songs are not exactly the same style. He gained recognition in 2001 and started making hip hop music in 1997 at the age of 11. His first song was "Replacement Girl" and his favorite song is "Feels No Way." Chief Keef is his favorite musician, and he identifies as a certified lover boy. What was your home life like growing up? I was living in a hood in Toronto. I have a poor family in debt. Oh, that sucks. At least you made it out of the trenches. Who were your idols like growing up? I listened to a lot of musicians like Michael Jackson. Did you base any of your music off of that? Yes, a little bit. That's nice. What type of music did you listen to when you were growing up? I listened to pop and rap. So it's kind of like some of your songs? Not really. When did you start to get recognized?
