Nothing to say, yet
The speaker expresses their love for the ocean and the animals in it, particularly sea turtles. They mention their experiences kayaking in Baja, California and seeing various marine creatures. The speaker introduces Brad Nahal, co-founder of SeaTurtles.org, and discusses the organization's mission to save a billion baby turtles. They also touch on the issue of turtle shell jewelry and the campaign "Too Rare to Wear." The speaker shares interesting facts about turtles, such as there being seven species worldwide and the size and weight of leatherback turtles. They mention that sea turtles eat jellyfish and that only one in 1,000 sea turtles survive to adulthood. Brad and his organization are working to protect and support these reptiles. In this episode, the focus is on turtles rather than hair. Three, two, one. I love the ocean. I mean, I really love the ocean and everything about it. The waves, the salt water, and especially the animals. Now, I used to spend a lot of time down in Baja, California, Mexico. Almost every morning, before everyone woke up, I would take a kayak out by myself and enjoy the solitude. Well, not totally. I'd see whales, tons of fish, and lots of times, I would see sea turtles. Don't you just love sea turtles? Well, if you haven't seen them swimming, or even if you have, don't you think they almost look like aliens the way they glide through the water? Well, in today's episode, Brad Nahal, he joins me. He's the co-founder and director of SeaTurtles.org. Now, how about this? Can you imagine this mission to save a billion baby turtles? Sound crazy? Well, they're trying to do that and so much more. Now, have you ever given any thought to where all that turtle shell jewelry comes from? We're going to delve into that, and also their campaign, Too Rare to Wear. I said that pretty good, I think. Did you know there are seven species of turtles in the world, and one, the leatherback, can be several feet long? I'm talking like seven feet, maybe even longer, and sometimes weigh upwards of 2,000 pounds. Did you know that sea turtles eat jellyfish? How about this one? One in 1,000 sea turtles survive to be adults. Brad and his organizations are doing lots to help these amazing reptiles, and in this episode, the turtle definitely beats the hair.
