The First Crier Podcast is introduced by Joshua Doneskos, the chief editor of the Crier newspaper, and Frank, the podcast producer. They discuss the purpose and vision of the podcast, which aims to provide information and entertainment to students. They encourage listeners to request topics or even record with them. They plan to cover various subjects, including career spotlights and professor spotlights. They also plan to talk about upcoming events and club events on campus. They want to make the podcast enjoyable and interactive for the student body. They invite listeners to send in their ideas and work to be featured on the podcast. They close each episode with the school's mission statement. Hello, Red Barons. Welcome to the First Crier Podcast. My name is Joshua Doneskos, and I am your chief editor for the Crier newspaper. Just a little more about me, I'm a first semester full-time student in the mechatronics degree program, along with the CNC certificate. Outside of school, I work as a server and sommelier in Corning, and to be honest with you, I've never created a podcast. This is my first time, but there's a first time for everything. I also have next to me our Crier podcast producer. Hello, everyone. My name is Frank. This is my second semester as a full-time student. I am a business major, and I work in the work study program. This is also my first podcast. So again, we welcome you to our weekly podcast. And yes, we do hope to make it a weekly podcast. The plan currently is to record on Friday and publish on Monday, so hopefully the student body will welcome every Monday with a new podcast produced by yours truly. So since this is the first podcast, let's talk about the purpose and vision of this project. So the Crier team believes that a podcast will be a very easy and quick way to disseminate information to students that you might be interested in or might find fun. And I'm also realizing that this is not an easy task, but it is a quick way to get information out. So therefore, we hope to cover many topics that may be of interest. We'd also like to say that you could request for topics, or you can come in and even record with us if you have something that you'd like to get out to the student body as well. We welcome that. Simply email us. We'll set up a time with you. And if you want to come and talk about the math club, or you want to talk about somebody's work or art, you want to give a shout out to someone, feel free to come in. We're more than happy to work with you. We may end up doing some career and professional spotlights on our own. So that was one of the ideas that the Crier team came up with during a couple of brainstorming activities before the break. We think it would be very useful, especially for first-year students or for people returning to college who maybe don't have a general idea of where to go. So what we want to do is help you with that. And I'll give an example. So like I said in the introduction, that I am in the mechatronics program. But you also heard that I was a server in a sommelier, and of course, I've been that my entire career. So I drink wine for a living. Robotics and electronics is not something I have necessarily been into, but here I am. I'm learning these things, and it's exciting. But I didn't really have a general idea of where to go career-wise before I started my research. And even in the research, it was a little difficult. So I would like to help the student body in providing some of that guidance, at least as much as we can. So the example would be, we're going to take a career that is connected with the program and talk about them. And maybe that might help you on your way in yours. We also like to do professor spotlights, meaning we're going to bring in a professor if they have time, if they would oblige us. And we're going to talk why go into this particular program, why should we study this particular topic, and what is out there, and where we could use it to better our lives, to better income, to better the world. We're also going to talk about upcoming events, which I think is going to be one of the most important things that we talk about on the podcast. We are going to be connecting with Student Association as well. So we're going to maybe have a representative, or we're going to talk about some of the things that they have coming up, and basically how to make your voices more heard on campus. And then finally, we just want to make this a very fun podcast. So we're also going to talk about club events. So we want you to get involved on campus. We want to see you at the club meetings. And we definitely want to enrich the campus and our lives. So we will keep you updated, keep you posted on what's happening. And then finally, we'll just close it out with just send us your ideas, send us your work. We would love to see it, love to hear from you. You could send it to thecriernewspaper.com, thecriernewspaper.com. And I think I'll close out every podcast with our mission statement here at the school. And I will say be empowered Red Barons, and thank you for listening.
