The pre-Nicene Christians celebrated Christmas based on the first Christian Bible, which stated that Jesus descended into Capernaum in the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar's reign. They determined that this occurred in 29 AD, as there was a total solar eclipse on November 24th at 11:05 AM, lasting one minute and 49 seconds. Capernaum was the only place where the eclipse was completely visible. Hundreds of years before a conclave of political and religious committees decided on when to have a holiday, the pre-Nicene Christians had been celebrating Christmas all along, and because they used the first Christian Bible of 144 AD, they knew exactly when to celebrate the arrival of Jesus Christ on earth. But how? The first sentence of the first Bible tells us, In the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Jesus descended into Capernaum, a city in Galilee. So now we know the fifteenth year of Caesar's reign was 29 AD, and Capernaum was the place. And there was only one spectacular astronomical event in that entire time frame. It was a total solar eclipse on the 24th of November at 11.05 AM, and lasted precisely one minute and 49 seconds. It was 95% visible from Jerusalem, but 100% visible from only one place on earth, and the name of that place was Capernaum.
