The Rutgers Seeing Eye Puppy Club is a great place to relieve exam stress and help blind individuals by raising puppies. The club faces problems like puppies with confidence issues, being afraid of wheels and grates, difficulty with the down position, and dogs with different personalities not getting along. Pairing dogs incorrectly can also be a problem. Some dogs may get scared and cause noise issues. Taking proper precautions can create a better environment for the club and the puppies. And about a week ago we interviewed the members of the club itself, both the president and a general member of the club. And we asked them a bunch of questions as to how the club functions and so on so. And pretty much the main question that I had to ask was, what problems do they face with these puppies overall? And the team members and the president had a lot of information to say. To start off, they said that some of these puppies had confidence issues. So pretty much what this means is that they didn't really feel secure within themselves to communicate with others. Some of these puppies are a little bit more antisocial. Another problem that these puppies have is that they are ranged from different personalities overall. So pretty much some of these puppies would be more social and happy. And another set of these puppies would be a little bit more antisocial. And they'd want to focus on their work itself, whether that work is finishing these puzzles or finishing the quests that they have been given or something along those lines. Nextly, another problem that they said that the puppies would have is that they were afraid of wheels for some reason. So pretty much what this meant was that it was hard to have these puppies move around campus because there are many students that are using their bicycles to commute around campus, or their buses, cars, and so much more. Very weird issue that these puppies had, but that was one of the main ones that they have. Another one of the issues that these puppies have is the fact that they did not want to walk with grates on the ground. So this made it very difficult for these puppy owners or these puppy raisers to move around these puppies to walk them around campus. Nextly, one of the main problems that these puppy raisers had with the puppies overall was putting them in the down position. If you guys don't know what the down position is, it's a submissive position for these dogs. So they would be more submissive to their owner. And since dogs are very insecure and protective over themselves, they did not want to be in that position. It took a lot of training, blood, sweat, and tears to be in that position. Another one of these problems that these dog owners faced was that there are many different types of dogs. So when you group all the dogs together, as you would in a club, a lot of these dogs wouldn't get along together. Some of these dogs only want to work, and some of these dogs don't really want to have interactions. A different range of dogs makes it very, very difficult for us to take care of all the dogs at the same time. We should take many more steps to fix this problem, and also take many more steps to find different solutions to these problems. When I was speaking to the president of the club, she said that she only took care of 4-5 dogs. And each one of these dogs presented a different type of and set of problems overall. This is pretty alarming because it shows that these dogs are not really similar at all. Some of them come small, and more fragile, and others are bigger and can cause more damage and ruckus. We should keep this in mind because it's very difficult and you can have many problems when you pair these small dogs with someone bigger, or these bigger dogs with someone smaller. If the pairings are done wrong, then both the problem and the dog sitter might have trouble in the future. Next, the last problem that I want to go through with these dogs is that some of them might get scared and make too much noise in the campus, which can cause ruckus and alarming problems in the campus overall. If a dog is scared, it might bite the owner, it might cause a lot of barking, which can scare the other owners or other general audiences in the club, and even the other puppies. In order to decrease the rate of this happening, we need to have more proper options to take care of these dogs in order to prevent all of these unnecessary problems that could arise. All in all, if we take the proper precautions and the proper steps to take care of these puppies, we can make the club and the club sitters a better environment and a better place for these people to be.
