Cleanses may not be safe or effective, and instead, we should focus on nourishing our bodies with quality, nutritious food. The blood in our bodies carries nutrients to different organs, so the quality of our blood affects our overall health. Eating vibrant, colorful fruits, vegetables, beans, herbs, and spices provides the nutrients our bodies need. On the other hand, consuming oily, greasy, sugary, and salty foods can negatively impact our liver and overall well-being. The next meal or snack we choose is what matters, so adding something vibrant and colorful to our plate can make a difference. For more information on empowered nutrition, visit www.harmony-within.org. Good evening to you and welcome to Elle's Food for Thought. I'm Elle and this evening I'm really interested to talk about cleanses. I know a lot of people who want to really support their body's well-being and will maybe click on internet ads or social media adverts or read stories about people doing liver cleanses and you know stomach cleanses and gut cleanses and these all come from a really really positive intention of helping the body's health and well-being and our mental health and well-being too. However a lot of these cleanses are not necessarily very safe and they're not often proven to really do the thing that they're claiming to do. When I think about cleansing the body I always think from a bigger holistic perspective and right now the blood that is running through your veins and traveling around your body is carrying nutrients and carrying all the things that you've digested because our digestive system puts nutrients and useful things into the blood and then the blood carries it around to the different organs and the different tissues and all the places that need it. So the quality of our blood right now at any given moment determines the quality and the health of our entire body. So if you want to cleanse you know one organ you kind of can't cleanse one organ you're always working with the whole body as a system and the best way to do that is to give us the best quality of blood. So how do we get quality blood? Well we eat quality nutritious food because if we want lots of nutrients to get to the body then we have to eat them and that comes in the vibrant, colorful, delicious fruits, vegetables, beans, herbs and spices and on the other side whatever we put into our mouth you know has to come through the digestive tract and can end up in our blood. So if we're eating very oily, greasy, sugary, salty food that all ends up in the blood and if it ends up in the blood the very first place it visits after our digestive organs is the liver and this is why fatty liver disease is contributed so much by processed food, convenience food, ready meals, snack foods because they're very high in fats and oils and sugars and salts and all of that ends up storing its fat inside the liver. Within two hours of eating a fatty meal that fat stays in your blood for hours afterwards and changes the entire way that your body performs in terms of energy levels and mood. So when you're thinking of a cleanse it's the next meal that's going to make a count, it's the next snack that makes it count. So if you're preparing your dinner right now what could you add to your plate that's vibrant and colorful even if it's just a little handful of greens on the side? This is Elle with Elle's Food for Thought and if you're keen to learn more about empowered nutrition you're so welcome to join me in the next online course. You'll find all the details on www.harmony-within.org. Thanks for listening!
