Nothing to say, yet
The speaker reflects on their tough life and the temptation to smoke, but remembers how their parents fought over expensive cigarettes. They sought solace in music, dreaming of a peaceful home. However, their father never stopped smoking and their mother never stopped questioning why. Finally, the speaker realizes that what they truly desire is love and not cigarettes of gold. Life's been tough lately, we ought to smoke a few, my mind says to me, but then I remember all the times my parents fought for cigarettes of gold. I would close the bedroom door and play Radiohead on my headphones, and wish for a home bereft of these petty fights, but guess what, they never stopped, my father never stopped smoking cigarettes of gold, and my mother never stopped asking, why can't you stop, are those cigarettes made of gold, so I crush the cigarette in my hand and say to my mind, cigarettes of gold are not what I crave for, all I need is love that holds.
