Davis Hope grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, a beach town with fun activities. While his neighborhood is privileged and shares similar values, the city as a whole struggles with drug addiction. Davis's community is influenced by successful individuals who are competitive in business but loving at home. This shaped Davis's mindset of toughness, driven by love for his loved ones and the desire to succeed for them. Toughness is a significant value in his life. I'm sure many of you guys have watched Outer Banks the TV show and really wish that you could grow up in that lifestyle of you know treasure hunting on the beach you know doing like cool stuff well you know what that's the life I kind of grew up with and my name is Davis Hope and I grew up in Wilmington North Carolina you know situated right on the beach you know we have a lot of fun activities to do you know go on the boat go to the beach you know have so much I mean I'm very grateful for where I grew up in and I really am glad that I was able to spend my childhood here but you know it's not all beach you know there isn't there is a town aspect and my community in town is you know kind of situated you know midtown area and we're pretty distinct and you know we we have some wealth in our neighborhood and you know we are pretty privileged where we live and we're all you know pretty similar in our neighborhood we all kind of share the same values same views. Wilmington as a whole is not like that Wilmington actually struggles with some big issues like drug addiction you know we were one of the most addicted cities in the whole US because of the port and we bring in a bunch of opioids and stuff like that so there's a lot of struggles in Wilmington and you know I'm not immune to those struggles you know I know people who have had issues with this but you know in my kind of area you know we don't really deal with that as much and you know that kind of shaped my culture ecology because one of the main things in my neighborhood that you know stood out to me was you know I'd always be going over my parents friends houses and you know they were very successful people however the one thing that they you know they'd be joking around like playing around always when I'd see them however if you saw them in a work setting they were you know they were ready to go these were some of the sharks of like the town you know they own businesses you know they were they were always you know competing to make more money and to be the best the thing about this is that when they came home they were they were completely just loving people you know they're always willing to have fun always looking out for me and that kind of influenced how I grew up you know around friends or unloved ones you know I'm myself you know I can really just be a joking like funny guy you know but when it comes down to business you know for me personally it was sports in high school and you know doing well in school you know I just adapted you know tough toughness mindset and I this toughness comes from you know loving my loved ones and wanted to succeed for them and that's kind of the main value that I was drawn to for my neighborhood and my culture ecology is toughness because of your loved ones and that is a huge part of my life
