In 1919-1921, there was a lot of fighting in Ireland as they wanted freedom from British rule. The IRA used surprise attacks against British soldiers. A treaty was made in 1921, but it caused disagreements as it split Ireland into two parts and made promises to Britain. This led to the Civil War where Irish people fought each other. It was a sad and difficult time in Ireland's history. After a big uprising in 1916, more people in Ireland wanted to be free from British rule. They were ready to fight for their freedoms. There were some really big fights, like at Soliheadbeg and on a sad day called Bloody Sunday. In 1921, Ireland and Britain decided to make peace with a treaty. But this treaty wasn't simple. It made people argue. Ireland was split into two parts and they had to make some promise to Britain, which not everyone liked. Because of this treaty, people in Ireland couldn't agree. Some people thought the treaty was good because it gave Ireland some freedom, but others didn't like it because they wanted complete freedom, not just part of it. This disagreement led to a really sad time called the Civil War, where Irish people ended up fighting each other. This was a tough time in Ireland's history and it changed a lot of things for the country.
