The former US President will have to stand trial in New York on the 25th of March accused of covering up hush money payments. It's alleged he reimbursed his former lawyer Michael Cohen for paying to bury claims of extramarital affairs but falsely described the money as legal fees. As the United Kingdom goes into recession many people are struggling to get by. Laura Goan spoke to the people of Leeds to see how the recession is affecting them. The United Kingdom are currently in a recession which means people are losing their jobs, costs are rising and businesses are struggling. I spoke to the people of Leeds and asked them how the rising costs are affecting them. The cost of living has affected my day-to-day costs through travel expenses going up from like £20 to £30 and my lunch used to spend about £5 now it's £10. It's quite hard, food-wise bills, even just like the cost of going to work. I think it's really affected like travelling and stuff because being a uni student and going to work it's costing a lot. Cases of measles are rapidly rising in Leeds with six being diagnosed in the last week. The NHS have called for all parents to vaccinate their children as the rate continues to rise. An outbreak of measles has been seen across Yorkshire but cases are growing faster in Leeds than anywhere else in the county. In 2017, the World Health Organisation stated that the United Kingdom had eliminated measles due to the high rollout of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. However, the vaccine is at its lowest coverage in over a decade and measles is back. Zeal Hanan, a pharmacist from Leeds said, Yeah, we're seeing a lot of cases of measles really growing in Leeds and around the country obviously there's a lot of concerns with COVID and how that was dealt with that obviously measles numbers could reach that. Although measles can be a nasty and potentially life-threatening illness for children, 1 in 10 children starting school do not have the MMR vaccine. Freya Louise, a mother from Leeds said, I am worried about the rising measles cases, especially because I've got two young children, one who is nine and he's got congenital heart disease that makes him critically vulnerable and he has a weakened immune system. In England and Wales, there have been 959 suspected cases so far this year, including 10 suspected cases in Leeds with six being diagnosed in the last week. The NHS are calling for parents to vaccinate their children as the risk continues to rise. Professor Dane Jenny Harries, Chief Executive of the UKHSA said, We need a long-term concentrated effort to protect individuals and to prevent large measles outbreaks. Two doses of the MMR vaccine gives a lifelong protection and it is never too late to catch up. A Leeds-based airline, Jetty, says it's seen demand for package holidays soar as customers try to get away from the bad weather. The travel groups say winter bookings have seen 17% higher than 12 months ago, while summer reservations are also up. Bosses have told investors they're expecting profits from the year to be higher than they first thought. The Community Security Trust has registered figures showing that anti-Semitic hate incidents reached a record high last year. Two days ago, in Leeds, Rabbi Deutsch of the University Jewish Chaplaincy had death threats aimed at him and his family, and Hillel House, a known safe haven for Jewish students, was graffitied. West Yorkshire police say they're treating the act as a hate crime. Jewish student Lewis Bullock gave his thoughts on the topic. Being Jewish is still a minority. It's still people, you know, when you're young you just find out about, you know, racism and anti-Semitism and all these different things, and kind of say things against you.
