South African athletes are performing well in the World Championships in Budapest. They have broken records and are showing potential to win medals. Young athletes like Sean Mahjongagne and Lyle Pillay are making their mark. In the women's events, Marjonai Foree has a chance to make it to the end rounds. Overall, the South African team is doing a great job and should be congratulated. The South Africans are now beginning to tire already, he's pulling away, it's an unbelievable 3-0-3, I can't believe it, he has obliterated Michael Justin's world record! The South Africans are now beginning to tire already, he has obliterated Michael Justin's world record! The South Africans are now beginning to tire already, he has obliterated Michael Justin's world record! The 7 times that he stepped on the 400 meter mark this year, he didn't even make it. And it's not that White just didn't win, he won the 400 meter in 44.08 seconds during the Demand League in Poland. It's on 3-0 the fastest time of the year. The question is also no longer if White is able to keep up as fast as 44 seconds. The question is when he's going to do it again. The defending champion Michael Norman has decided not to defend his title. The Americans have indicated that it is more important to try and win the Olympic title next year in Paris. From a South African point of view, the big question when it comes to world championships is Are the Afghans going to win or are they not going to win a medal in the 100 meter? Afghans are probably one of the strongest runners in the 100 meter. Since 2014 he has been one of the world's 20 fittest every year. But there is one good thing about his CV and that is that he can never win a medal, a world championship or an Olympic Games. He has ended up 4th or 5th every time. It must be said, the real reality is that Afghans don't get younger. So the chance to make that sought-after breakthrough gets less. St. Benny has lived a dream season for years. He has won his last 4 races in Europe. A big turning point was when Fred Curley hit the Demand Regulatory Act in Poland. The American is considered by many to be the genius to win the 100 meter in Budapest. He is the world defending champion. The runner-up from America and Jamaica won the 100 meter for 20 years in the world championship. The last time that a runner from any other country could win the 100 meter was in 1923 when Ken Collins from South Keats in Nevis was the winner. What makes me very excited is that on the day of the event where the word is spoken in English, there can be a changing of the guards. I am not a senior, but I still want to think that Akane and Wajda who have been playing for the Olympic Games in Paris for many years, will start to think about leaving. Akane will be 31 and Wajda 32. So it is high time that our young athletes start to put their hands up and say we have the right to declare war on the best in the world. One of the young men that makes me very excited is Sean Mahjongagne. He won a silver medal in the 100 meter at the recent World Student Games in China. He is also the youngest South African national runner in the 100 meter in 2023. Sean had a time of 9.91 seconds in the year in Austin, America. This time is one of the 10 fastest of the year. Akane's best of the season is 9.92 seconds. Benjamin Richardson is still a young athlete to keep up. At the last two World Junior Championships he won a silver and a bronze medal. He spoke with a best time of 10.08 seconds in the 100 meter. The 100 meter final on Sunday night just after 7 o'clock. Lyle Pillay is the athlete that makes me very excited. Last year he won the Junior World Title in the 400 meter and this year he won 2nd place in the South African Championships. He could run faster than 45 seconds for the first time when the world record was broken in 44.80 seconds. This is his first Senior World Championships but he will definitely keep it in mind in the future. There is another young athlete that needs special mention. Since Rian Boota and Okker Brits left, there was no other athlete that could run 5.70 meters in the past. During this year's NCAA Championships in the USA, Karl Rademeyer jumped 5.70 meters high in Austin, Texas where he also won the title. This young man has the ability to jump very high and will soon be a force that needs to be taken into account. As far as women are concerned, I can't help but wonder what can happen in the 100 meter race. It has never happened that a South African woman athlete could take part in the World Championships in the end rounds of the Kortekkies. Rian Boota, Rikneit Steenkamp and Marjonai Foree were all three in the half and round in action. Estimated in her performance of the year, Marjonai had a real chance to be in action in the end rounds. In July in Switzerland, Syria's record was improved to 12.55 seconds. I realize that no law can ever be won on paper or by playing a statistical role. Law is won on the track between the white lines. However, it is interesting to note that a time of 12.55 seconds during the 2017 Olympic Games and the 2017 Championships would be good enough to win a silver medal. In 2021 in the Tokyo Games it would have been a bronze medal. Marjonai's most important race would be in the semi-final. On two of the last three World Championships a time of between 12.65 and 12.86 seconds would have been good enough to get through the end rounds. That means a time in the picture that 12.76 seconds ago could also get through the end rounds. It would be unbelievable to see two South African athletes in the 100 meter final in action. Trudens Zekgodisou's performance in the 800 meter triathlon is maintained. She had a best time of 1 minute 58.87 seconds this season. It is one of the 20 fastest times of the year. The young athlete won three of her six international races and was second twice. Another athlete who can be maintained is Zenei van der Wald. Her runner Maritza Coetzee is part of the South African team for the first time and with her runner alongside the track to encourage she can definitely surprise and make the end round. That brings us to the end of this week's show. Congratulations to all our athletes in Budapest.
