In this passage, a character named Raphael is being described as a powerful and monstrous being. He had encountered a betrayer and, with his strength, was able to defeat them. However, there was a moment when a girl approached him fearlessly and called him magnificent. This surprised Raphael as he expected her to be afraid. CHAPTER VIII YOU ARE MAGNIFICENT A betrayer had entered his house with a party of four other cretins, and their bodies would never leave. They were the mortal equivalent of Lemur's. How could they think they could ever best him? How the arrogance, utterly laughable! The betrayer's soul was now his meal to dine on, and he would do so with absolute glee for centuries. But to bring him to a state of near desperation, to where he needed to ascend, and the little mouse, heated air expelled from three gaping fleshy mouths full of sharpened yellow teeth, his head an amalgamation of beast-like skulls and a mass of horns. His monstrous and towering body was decorated with flames and sharp spines, claws that promised death and powerful pointed wings. Raphael turned with a step, his head swiveling to behold her. His mouse's brow was pinched, and her mouth was parted in a partial frown. She could only meet one burning yellow eye at a time. It was when the embers began to materialize at his feet that her feet moved. Raphael! Perplexingly, she reached out to him and he halted transforming back to his fiendish form. There was a deep, otherworldly rumble from his molten chest as he swiftly lowered his head down to piercingly stare at her. Why was she not afraid of this form, when she should be? Her palms came to rest on either side of his center skull, and she stared back with awe. You're magnificent, as was she, his little mouse.
