Sioux Pie Village is a small settlement located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It is the most remote settlement in the United States, with mail being delivered by mule. Access to the village can be achieved by helicopter or by hiking down a steep trail that takes about five hours. Alternatively, a horse can be used for a faster three-hour trip. If you were going to pick a place to build a town, one of the last places you'd choose is the bottom of the Grand Canyon. But that's exactly where one small tribe of people make their home. It's called Sioux Pie Village. It is the most remote settlement in the United States, where even the mail is delivered by mule. You can get there by helicopter, but most people get there by climbing down a very steep trail to the bottom of the 3,000-foot-deep canyon. Hope you're not in a hurry, because the eight-mile hike takes about five hours. In a hurry? Then you'll want to hop on a horse for the speedy three-hour trip.
