Hello everyone, our group worked on Dr. William Glazer, the theory is centered on the 5 student needs, but it's best known as the choice theory. This theory allows individuals to have control over their feelings and all behavior serves a purpose. The 5 basic needs are love and belonging, power, fun, survival, and freedom. Glazer's main component of this theory is that everyone has control over their feelings and behaviors. The results of their feelings are based on their needs. Teachers aim to create a positive environment that empowers students to make choices to the best of their abilities, which creates confidence in the classroom for students to thrive. So students have choices to change their emotional or physical behavior by changing what they are doing at that moment. On our PowerPoint number 7, we put a William Glazer basic need chart. It shows the 5 student needs in the classroom. The first fundamental one is survival, before a student can learn, they need their needs met, which will consist of food and shelter. The second one is love and belonging, students need to feel part of the group, they need to feel valued, and they need to feel like they're part of a family. The third one is freedom, and it's giving students choices, and the students take responsibility for their choices. The fourth one is power, students shouldn't feel like they don't have control while they're at school, and teachers should allow some control for students to have. The last one is fun, and it's always important to allow students to have fun in the classroom, and it's not always work. Our other slide is just a picture of Glazer and a summary. And then the last thing is, we thought that this quote went along with our choice theory, and it states, we almost always have choices, and the better the choice, the more we will be in control of our lives.
