The speaker talks about their experience at the Metcon Rush event, which they were invited to after another participant had to cancel. They describe how the event showcased the growth of CrossFit as both a sport and a community. It provided a platform for athletes of all levels to shine and showcase their hard work. The event allowed everyday athletes to compete on a big stage, while also showing elite athletes that they don't have to be at the top level to be considered elite. Overall, the event highlighted the growth and beauty of CrossFit as a sport. Metcon Rush was the first big event that I got invited to last summer in 2023 in August. I had luckily reached out to Tim and coincidentally on that day the other MC that he had scheduled to come unfortunately had to cancel. So he had a quick chat with me and invited me in and you know it's been a really really good time being part of the team and I felt like I've been part of like the Metcon Rush family ever since. This event was probably one of the truest events that I would say that really brought out how special CrossFit is and how much not only the sport has grown but how much the community aspect has grown too. You know we had people who were massive athletes, people who do class once a day and you know this is their Super Bowl, this is their big time to shine and it gave the platform and the opportunity for a lot of athletes that typically don't have this opportunity to really shine and showcase how hard they work every day whether it be you know the person who does class for an hour a day before work after work, the person who does two or three sessions a day you know the elite athlete that tried to make it to a bigger stage before and it showed how far the sport has come not only with skill and with strength but how far the sport has come with community and it was a really really cool thing to see. It gave a platform to people who you know they're just the everyday athlete, they are the person who shows up a couple times a week and then they get to go to Metcon Rush where you have this floor layout with all these you know fancy lines and all the color plates and all these things that they don't get to use every day and they're on this stage that they never thought they'd be on before and Metcon Rush created that for you know the everyday person who is still working to get their first muscle up, is still working to get you know a clean at 225 or a clean at 185 whatever that may be and the events and the programming allowed for them to really showcase all their efforts and prove that you know in that setting that adrenaline rush that you get and having the crowd yelling at you and having the emcee on the mic and having the music blasting, you can do anything, you can really do anything in that setting and it was just this showcase of tons of teams and tons of individuals who went out onto that floor for any event and just said hey I can do this and I belong here regardless of the division they're in, regardless of how hard they trained. So you take people who again just show up a couple times a week to their local affiliate, saw this competition, said hey you know let's try it out and it allowed them to really showcase and really have the ability to go out on the floor and give it their all and have their family there yelling and hear their name shouted out over the loud system. It was truly incredible for that community aspect and on the other hand for the elites it showed that you don't have to be someone in Madison you know at the Karate games to be an elite athlete. They were doing things that we would have never thought could have been done before just at this little competition in Maryland where you know the goal for these people are to make it to the bigger stage but what allowed them was you know we gave them a chance to win some cash to showcase and get their name out there. But overall you know it was another opportunity to show hey you know the skill and the strength of this sport has grown so much and I thought that Metcon Rush was a fantastic event to really show how much we have seen CrossFit grown into just a beautiful sport overall and a beautiful thing for people to partake in to show how hard they work and how far they have come from day one of when they started CrossFit to the event.
