The podcast hosts discuss the importance of first dates and offer tips for a successful one. They advise against dinner dates as they can be too formal and awkward, suggesting coffee and a walk or engaging activities like bowling or mini golf instead. They emphasize the importance of being oneself and staying true to one's personality. Overall, they advocate for low-stakes, low-pressure environments to foster a comfortable and enjoyable first date experience. Hey everyone, my name is Yumna. My name's Bridget. My name's Sonal. I think first dates are so important because first impressions and it just is kind of the foundation for if you want to see that person again. Absolutely. First impressions are everything. Like, hello, there's a whole book written about it, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Yeah, I definitely, I can say I had a first date and it was terrible and it made me never want to see him again because he didn't talk. And I think that leads me into what is a good first date idea. And I think if you don't feel like the conversation has been great with someone over the phone, don't do a dinner date. Oh, absolutely. I also want to say, this is my personal opinion, I don't think you should be going out for a dinner date on the first date because I feel like that puts a lot of pressure to sit in a confined space for an extended amount of time because there's a lot of pressure with dinner because you have to sit there for the meal, you have to sit there for like dessert or the drinks. And so I think a good first date is always a low stake, sort of low pressure kind of environment because you're like, I can leave whenever I want, but I can also stay as long as I want. Like, just going with the flow to see where the conversation is taking you. Yeah, I also feel like if you're doing a dinner first date, you're forced to stare at each other. And if it's really awkward, then you've wasted all this money on like a surf and turf dinner where you could have just got like Starbucks. Exactly. Coffee and a walk. Yeah, exactly. Coffee and a walk because then you're not, you're not stuck staring at someone or an activity. I think my favorite dates that I've been on have either been bowling or mini putting because you kind of get to see, oh, is this person competitive? Do they have good banter? Yeah. And it's kind of like you're doing something. So worst comes to worst, if the conversation dies, it's like, oh, nice strike, nice fit. So it's kind of just a conversation starter and a continuer. And we covered this in our first episode where we talked about safety and going to a public place. I think a public place where I sort of am familiar with the area in case, God forbid, this guy has a knife and he's trying to chase me down. I can run away and I know where to hide. Yeah, just, you know, time for the worst. I think the last and the most important tip is just to be yourself. I think obviously you're going to feel nervous to some extent, but I think being your true self is the best because then that person really sees who you are and it goes both ways. You don't want someone to come on a first date and act completely different and four days later be a completely different person. So stay true to yourself and then the right person will like you for who you are. Thanks so much for listening to this week's episode of Dating With Eve.
