The podcast discusses the topic of forgetting and how it is a part of memory. Forgetting is common and happens to everyone, including the host and his family who are particularly bad at remembering things. The host shares a funny story about forgetting his own birthday. The podcast also challenges listeners to remember a sentence and promises a great dream if they can repeat it at the end. Hello, this is Brady Napoleon, and today I will be talking about, uh, I completely forgot what the topic of this podcast is, oh, that's right, I'll be covering forgetting. If you don't listen to the end, you'll forget about Mother's Day, and your mom will not be happy. I came across this topic because forgetting is a part of memory, which I learned a lot about in my cognitive psychology class, and I found it very, very interesting. The whole idea of doing something one moment, and then forgetting something you were thinking about or doing a few minutes later is crazy to me, and I want to learn more about why that happens. This podcast will cover it all. As you already might know, forgetting is common and happens to everyone, however, me and my family are the worst when it comes to remembering things. On my 10th birthday, I woke up like any other 10-year-old on the weekend excited to not go to school, and I was about to do everything a normal kid does in the morning, brush their teeth, ignore my brothers, head downstairs to eat breakfast with my mom, but this day was different. No one was around. Instead of thinking, oh, maybe no one is upstairs because they're waiting to celebrate my birthday, I thought, maybe I slept in too much and my whole family is gone doing something. Wrong. I walked downstairs and was surprised by my whole family there with cake and presents. At this moment, I was a little surprised by something I should have known was going to happen on my birthday, but you kind of fake your action, but at this time I was shocked because I had no clue what was going on. I turned around thinking they were surprising my youngest brother, who everyone in the family forgets about, but he wasn't there. They were surprising me. I finally understood. How did I forget my birthday? Now that I've gotten your attention with this funny story, I'll task you with remembering a sentence. This sentence you will have to repeat by the end of the podcast. The sentence is, ketchup is my favorite condiment. I put it on everything. If you repeat that sentence when asked at the end of the podcast, you will have a great dream when you go to sleep tonight.
