Fun music and great information happens every Saturday at 993thevine.com and the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack Podcast features great information like this. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Hey, I'm Big Rick Stewart. Thanks for hanging out with me today. This is from the Mayo Clinic. Never take advice from a radio DJ when it comes to your health or probably anything else. But this is from the Mayo Clinic. The truth about red wine and heart health. Red wine in limited amounts, they say at the Mayo Clinic, has long been thought of as healthy for the heart. You might have heard this. The alcohol and certain substances in red wine called antioxidants may help prevent coronary artery disease, the condition that leads to heart attacks. Links between red wine and fewer heart attacks aren't well understood, according to the Mayo Clinic, but antioxidants in red wine may increase levels of the good cholesterol and help protect the lining of your blood vessels and prevent blood clots. So you might have also heard that red wine has this certain special ingredient. Resveratrol is a polyphenol, a naturally occurring, highly powerful antioxidant. And at the Mayo Clinic, they say it could be linked to a lower risk of swelling and irritation, inflammation, and blood clotting and more. But other studies have found that resveratrol does not protect against heart disease, but you have to drink wine to get the benefits. Simply eating red and purple grapes or drinking grape juice may have some of the same heart-healthy pluses of red wine and also peanuts, blueberries, and cranberries. Now, the Mayo Clinic and everybody else says do not start drinking if you don't drink alcohol right now. Too much alcohol can do so much damage to the body. And drink in moderation. That means one drink a day for women, two drinks a day for men. The reason why the limit for men is higher is because they weigh more and they process and break down alcohol a little better, I guess. According to the Mayo Clinic. And the bottom line is, more research is needed. All right, so there you go. A little update on red wine and health. I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack at 993thevine.com. Hey, I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. I just, sorry for the smile on my face. From sfstandard.com. Well, actually, I'm reporting a story from the standard. San Francisco's new $3 wine. They say we tried the Cabernet Cure for rising inflation. So what's this all about? Well, they opened a total wine in San Francisco and everybody's going crazy about it. And so they look for the cheapest bottle of wine. Actually, this is a bottle of wine that costs less than $3, but with tax or whatever, it's a little bit around $3. It's a $3 Cabernet they found called Hectare, not Hector, like H-E-C-T-A-R-E, you know, like the size of land. Okay, so the standard gave this out to some of their newsroom staff and they had their own reviews of this. A slightly displeased review came from a few, including the editor, that said the Cabernet Sauvignon was, quote, all right, not too bad. Another one said that after a second sip, maybe it doesn't taste so bad after all. However, one person said that's definitely a $3 wine. This is someone from the video team there. Okay, now how did they describe this? Well, at Total Wine, they say it's a delicious Cabernet, notes of dark cherry, currant, and dried figs. They give way to spice and soft, subtle, smoky hints. Enjoy with hard cheese, roasted salmon, or chocolate. Okay, and at that website, they get a 4.1 out of five with over 200 reviews. And Becky69 says, I love this stuff. The price is great, well worth trying. I buy it by the box. $3 Cabernet, if it's not that good, you can make sangria, or braised pot roast, or I don't know, do whatever. I'm Big Rick Stewart. You do you. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack at 99.3thevine.com. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Fun music and great information. Hey, I'm Big Rick Stewart. I kinda hope this actually happens. Seems like it'd be a good idea. Sfs.com updates us on Anchor Brewing, Anchor Steam Beer. Did you know, you know, they're bankrupt now. They're going away. They're owned by Sapporo Beer, and well, they're not anymore, actually. They're going away, and they're closing the whole thing down. So what's happening? Anchor Brewing employees have launched a GoFundMe to buy Anchor Brewing. And within like two days, they hit their GoFundMe goal, which was $50,000. These are workers that have formed a co-op, and you know, they're gonna go for it. Since Anchor Brewing is in bankruptcy, here's the deal. Sapporo Brewing does not get to decide who buys which asset. That decision goes to third-party California Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors. All right. They're gonna make their decision on the sale based on cold-blooded financial calculations. So $50,000 is not gonna buy you the brewery, but you know, it's gonna help hire, I don't know, like accountants and lawyers and people to present your case and do all this stuff. San Jose's Foxtail Fermentation Project released a Solidarity Ale. Proceeds go to support Anchor employees, and so did San Francisco Enterprise Brewing as well. Gotta follow this, and you know, hope they hire some good people, and they get some funding on the back end of all this GoFundMe, and they can actually buy Anchor Brewing. That'd be kind of cool. Keep it alive and bring back the old label. That new label is terrible. All right, I'm Big Rick Stewart. I'm jonesing for some Anchor steam. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack at 993thefine.com. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Hey, I'm Big Rick Stewart. You ever wonder what happens to coffee grounds? Think about all the coffee we all drink, like around the world, and you know, I guess it goes into composting sometimes, maybe not, maybe it just goes into the trash or something like that. It has to go somewhere, right? It's not necessarily good for the earth and the world to have all these coffee grounds around. What if we could do something with them? Aha, Science Alert Online has this headline. Scientists discover amazing practical use for leftover coffee grounds. I know you can sprinkle it in your garden and do some other things, but check this out. This is amazing. The world produces a staggering 10 billion kilograms of coffee waste globally. Wow, that is just like crazy, and it doesn't do any good sitting in the dirt and all that. So here's what they did. They basically kind of made charcoal with coffee, but this isn't charcoal like for barbecues or anything. They heated coffee waste to over 350 Celsius, that's around 660 Fahrenheit, while depriving it of oxygen, which is kind of how you make charcoal. The process they say is called pyrolyzing. It breaks down the organic molecules, and they mix this into cement. It ends up producing concrete, they say, that's 30% stronger when they add these charred coffee grounds. They're working on creating some biochars from other organic waste, including wood, food waste, and agriculture waste. They're still doing research. It's all in the early stages, but this is kind of cool, and keeps it out of landfill and makes concrete stronger. Science Alert, where you can get this information. I like it. Enjoy your cup of coffee. I'm Big Rick Stewart. Have another one. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack at 99.3thevine.com. I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. The future has arrived. Took long enough. A Bay Area company is going to be sending their flying car to next week's auto show in Detroit. Wow. NBCBayArea.com has this story. Sam Mateo Company, Aliff Aeronautics, showed off its Model A. That's kind of a funny name, right? Because it's the old Ford Mop Clay. They showed it off recently. The CEO says part of the reason they're taking the car to Detroit is so people can actually see this in person, maybe even touch it. Oh my God. But not drive or fly it. Not quite yet. Now, just this summer, if you think this isn't real, the FAA granted Aliff Aeronautics a special airworthiness certification that's going to allow the company to begin testing it in the air and on the ground. I mean, this is like a real thing. Do you want to be a test pilot for this? I guess maybe apply online somewhere. So this company's been around since 2015, developing and promoting a flying car that's intended to take off vertically and tilt sideways to fly like a biplane. It's supposed to be all electronic, which is E-V-T-O-L, if you've ever seen that. And the range for flying is approximately 110 miles, they hope, and about 200 miles as a ground vehicle. Wow. This should be a big deal. The Detroit Auto Show starts next Wednesday and we'll look to see how this San Mateo company does. I don't know. I gotta follow this story. That sounds crazy. Although I'm not about to go flying around in the first flying car ever made. Maybe you are. Hey, it's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. 99.3, thevine.com. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Hey, I'm Big Rick Stewart. Apple is going to have an event. You know they call that the event kind of a thing. And it's gonna happen on Tuesday and super massive amounts of rumors are that they're going to show off the star of the show, the iPhone 15. So if you're waiting to buy an iPhone, don't buy one today or tomorrow or Monday or maybe Tuesday. Just wait, maybe till Wednesday. If you have like $1,200 to buy a phone, maybe that would be a good idea. So the rumors are flying around the internet about what this iPhone 15 Pro Max will be and man, it's pretty amazing. First of all, that charging cable that you might have for your iPhone that only works on your iPhone and nothing else, that's going to be gone because the European Union said you can't have something just like that. Everything has to work with everything else when you charge a cable. So it's gonna have USB-C for a charging cable. That's a good thing. Now here are some specs. Rumors say iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be available with up to eight gigs of RAM. The iPhone 15 Pro could support two terabytes of storage. Wow, that's amazing. And all of this is because you're gonna have such a giant massively upgraded camera. It's gonna have five or maybe six optical zoom on the Sony sensor camera. If you're into camera stuff, it's gonna be a stacked camera sensor supplied by Sony for more dynamic range in your photos and videos and more. How about a price? Okay, well they're saying the iPhone 15 Pro could be priced starting at about $1,100 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be about $1,200. We'll just have to see. They might announce a new watch and some other things as well. The iPhone 15, it's coming. All the details from Apple will be released Tuesday. I'm Big Rick Stewart.
