This translation was done by an American committee led by S.H. Hooke. The unique aspect of this translation is its use of Basic English, a simplified form of the English language created by linguist Charles Kay Ogden. Basic English is designed to make it easier for non-native speakers to learn English and serves as an international auxiliary language. It achieves this by utilizing a vocabulary of only around 850 English words.
