The Austral Plan was an Argentine program implemented during the government of Rago Rastoncín by his second Minister of Economy, Juan Vital Sorolli. It changed the currency from Argentine Peso to Austral Peso. The program, launched on June 14, 1985, successfully controlled inflation without slowing down economic growth. However, it ended in 1988 due to a resurgence of inflation, leading to the creation of a new program called the Spring Plan. Unfortunately, this plan failed to prevent the Argentine hyperinflation of 1989 and 1990. El Plan Austral fue un programa argentino de estabilización monetaria que se ejecutó durante el gobierno de Rago Rastoncín por su segundo ministro de Economía, Juan Vital Sorolli, por el cual se cambió la denominación monetaria de Peso Argentino a Peso Austral. El programa, lanzado un viernes 14 de junio de 1985, fue el tipo política de shock y logró contener la inflación rápidamente sin frenar el crecimiento económico. El programa terminó en los techos cuando, hacia 1988, un rebrote incesionario forzó a crear un nuevo programa, conocido como Plan Primavera, que no lograría evitar la hiperinflación argentina de 1989 y 1990.
