I want to ask you a question. Are you happy? Now, think about the reasons that made you respond in this way. Well, for many, happiness can mean having a car, owning a home, or even traveling. For others, happiness is having friends, a good job, and reading a book maybe. For each one, happiness has different meanings. But regardless of what makes us happy, some attitudes common to all of us are capable of moving away from what we really want. So let's start with complaints versus gratitude. Without realizing it, sometimes we can attract more of what we don't want to ourselves. Why are we failing at what we do want? That is, we move away from what makes us happy and approach what makes us sad and angry. It happens when we complain all the time about things that are going wrong. Oh, my life sucks. It will go wrong again, and that only happens to me. Or, oh, no, I cannot go. I don't have money, and so on. The universe gives us more than we ask for. If you keep saying everything goes wrong before you, I'm sorry, but that's what will happen. Instead of emphasizing what's not good, try exercising gratitude. Give thanks for what you have, the air you breathe, your food, the fact that you can walk, your job, and be grateful even for the difficulties because challenging situations often makes us stronger. We receive back what we say, what we practice. So here is an exercise. For every problem you complain about, give thanks for the other two blessings you have. With time, you will see that you have much more to be thankful for than you think, and you will focus more on the positive side of things, gradually reducing your degree of frustration. Now, lightness versus darkness. Okay, here's a story. Once upon a time in a particular city, the tradition was for mothers to live with their sons for a while after marriage. And a young woman was unhappy because her husband's mother was a dull, nosy, jealous woman. She, the young woman, then decided to look for a wizard and asked him to make a poison to kill her mother-in-law. The wizard then said that for it looked like a natural death, the poison would have to be administered in small doses, just one drop a day in the woman's food, a time-consuming but effective method. So the wedding occurred, and the young woman began living with her mother-in-law daily. Day after day, the mother-in-law asked the young man to wash, iron, cook, and et cetera. And the young man said to her, I'm a slave. Every day, the young woman put the poison in the woman's food, hoping that the day would come when it would have the long-awaited effect. However, the young woman realized that her mother-in-law just wanted to help, teaching her how to do things in the best possible way, so that people would be happy and could find the perfect mode of dividing tasks if they wanted to. The young woman ran to the wizard, returned the poison, and begged him to give her an antidote. And she was enjoying her mother-in-law, actually, and did not want her to die. The wizard said to her that there was no antidote. And the young woman said, no, please, I don't want to see her die. I like her. And the wizard then drugged the remaining poison and said, what was inside this container was simply water. The poison was inside you. So how often do we comment negatively about our colleagues and family members? How often do we talk about our insecurities or insecurities blind us? How many times have we arrived at a place and felt have energy or met someone who we didn't feel confident in? So just breathe. Give time to time. Observe.
