to continue the renewal idea for 2024 Reading from 2 Corinthians 4, 16 Therefore we do not lose heart, though outwardly we are wasting away Yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day And with that Bible verse, I have been going through some old journals And it made me start thinking about how I want to take all the old and renew it I want to grow, I want to learn, I want to prosper just like Jeremiah 29 talks about That God is going to prosper me for His good, His will, and His purpose I want to shine that light for God And I hope that you do too I hope that you take this new year, this new renewal for 2024 And use it for God's glory and to prosper yourself in God I was going through these journals and I was realizing Because this year in 2024, my children will be graduating from high school And I look back at the dreams that I had for them The ideas that I had for them My thoughts, my dreams, not their dreams Because their dreams and their thoughts are different than mine And I'm realizing that it's not about what I want for them It's not about what I thought was going to happen for them But what God has planned for them And I know that He's going to renew them this year He's going to give them the wisdom, the understanding, the ability To know what they want to do through God Because He will prosper them Just like Jeremiah 29, 11 states And with that, I want to talk about how we can grow in God And do His work and His purpose for His glory That just like the verse that I read in 2 Corinthians Even though our outward appearance is going to grow weary We're going to get gray hair Our body is going to be weak We won't be able to do the things that we once did We don't look youthful any longer But He will renew our heart day by day By us digging deep, growing in relationship with Him By reading His word and getting the understanding and the wisdom from Him We will grow youthful, strong, intelligent, beautiful in God Each and every day by growing in Him You know, over the years and as I have reminisced over the time That my kids have grown up and I've heard You have such wonderful kids They have great character They talk so well They treat others amazingly They have big hearts And I used to think about the things that I did as a kid All the mistakes that I made All the things that I went through All the things that I decided that I was smarter than God And wanted to do and try All the things that I was sinful for I was not perfect By all means, I was not a bad child growing up At least I don't think so Maybe you need to ask my mom But as I look at my own children And how they've grown up and what they've become I can respectfully say That it was not just me rearing those children or my husband But because we rooted them in God Because we gave them the foundation that they needed Through God God shows and shines through them It's not about my dream for them It's not about what I think is right for them It's not about what I want for them But for God's will And God's purpose And uses them to glorify His kingdom That is what we should be aiming for for our children As well as ourselves in this new year And this new renewal To grow in God To dig deep in those Bibles To have a relationship with God So that when others look at us Just like they talk about my children They can see God's light shining through Be the beacon to someone else in need Be the beacon to someone else who needs God For those unbelievers For those people who even believe They can see the light in you And maybe that will just bring them closer to God You can give them that little seed That little start of growth For their foundation in the Lord Never be ashamed of that light But always know that somebody is watching Even when you think they're not So be God's beacon of light for someone Allow yourself to be renewed This new year in 2024 That theme of renewal I will continue on That theme of light I'm going to continue on Because it is so important This world is so dark This world has so much going on This world has so much hatred This world has so much disaster But you can be that little light There is good in this world There is light in this world And there is God here in this world You can see it through others You can see it through God's blessings You can see it through God's masterpiece of earth You can see it in the sun You can see it in the moon You can see it in the water You can see it all around you If you stop to look and take the time Grow in the Lord Grow your relationship in the Lord You'll never look back and regret it You're not going to be like That year of 2024 was terrible Because I gave my life to God And I'm not saying that your life is going to be easier with God Or that it's going to be perfect I want you to be very clear of this Just because you give your life and you surrender your life to God It does not make things go away You still have seasons of trial You still have seasons of tribulation But you also have seasons where you're happy You enjoy the seasons And through God in all seasons He can make it so much easier for you to get through them Because He is right by you He is within you He is carrying you God will get you through So dig deep Do your research Allow God in Which brings me to I have been listening to so many different podcasts I enjoy listening to the podcasts I enjoy learning I enjoy doing my own research So that I know what the truth is You can listen to somebody But it's up to you for that discernment To go back to the Bible And see if they're telling you the truth I know I talked about wolves in sheep clothing In a previous podcast I am sure that you have seen So many people talk about false prophets False pastors But I want to recommend one That I have been listening to Her name is Bianca Olthoff She is a pastor at the Father's house In Orange County, California She also has a podcast as well Called We Are Going There And I am going to rave about her Because she is amazing She is relatable And she is easy to follow And I have enjoyed listening to her podcast As well as her sermons This past Sunday I listened to her sermon called New Horizons I listened to this twice Because I didn't want to miss anything It was what I needed to start this new year It made me feel refreshed Renewed Hopeful Like I was being heard That God was talking to me It gave me a new perspective Of a new look on the horizon Bianca is relatable She is understandable She is so funny And makes learning about God Fun and super easy She relates to the Bible as a novella And if you don't know what a novella is It's just like a soap opera here in the United States And now that she has given me this perspective When I am reading the Bible I refer it just to the novellas That I have grown up on The soap operas that my mom used to watch And it makes the Bible so much more fun So much more relatable It makes it easier to understand From her podcast We're Going There She suggests picking a word Or a phrase from God And she explains how to do this In five steps To choose your word or phrase for the year I went through these steps And envisioned an eagle Soaring That God is going to allow me In 2024 To soar Just like an eagle I couldn't believe That God gave me this word Soar Because it coincided with Bianca's sermon This last Sunday Called New Horizons It's like God was talking to me Through her Just like she said It's a new horizon You can see from a new sight For me Like an eagle that soars Above has the sight to see everything With sharp focused eyes I encourage you to ask God For your word or phrase for the year Ask God to show you How to apply it to your life As I said at the beginning of this episode We will be renewed Day by day If you make the sacrifice And dedication To God You can be renewed And refreshed And just like I said about my children And their dreams And hopes For them as well as myself Or yourself Ask God to renew them In Him Ask God to renew you In Him Ask for His plan His purpose Not yours And allow Him to reveal it to you But remember It may take time It's not going to happen overnight And it may not be what you wanted What you thought it was It may look different But remember Like God's word says In the Gospel In the book of Jeremiah 29 verse 11 How He's going to prosper you And not harm you Lean on that Lean on not your understanding But God's It's a new year A new year of renewal It is up to you What you want What you allow for 2024 I hope you enjoyed today's episode I hope you share it with
