The radio show is promoting the Dubbo Show and giving away tickets. They also discuss a story about a man who was robbed at an ATM and later ran over the thief with his car. They also talk about strange requests people have received, including a woman who asked her husband if she could invite her father to his colonoscopy. They also discuss stories of things going wrong on a night out. You're waking up with the Central West burst breaking on 92.7 ZOO. Good morning, coming up on the show we're going to learn how to blow up some fireworks later. That's more specifically for the Dubbo show this weekend, not in your own backyard. Also double passes to give away to the Dubbo show, the biggest event in town coming up later this morning. Up next, however, the ultimate payback. The payback that is the definition of what goes around comes around. I'll tell you what it is, a couple of minutes away, R.E.M. losing my religion. It's Thursday morning, ZOOFM breakfast. Lovely day ahead, make the most of it. Next couple of days sound absolutely awful. It's Keegan with you on your home of Dubbo's best music from the 80s to now. Major laser 20 minutes past six, ZOOFM breakfast for your Thursday morning. It's Keegan with you, cheers for your company. Top of 22 in Wellington today, currently 13.5, going to be sunny this morning. Possible showers this afternoon out west. Payback, I mean, it's the backbone of the term what goes around comes around. Or at least it is. In this case, in the U.S., what goes around, it comes back in a car. A man was withdrawing money from an ATM around 8 p.m. on Saturday night when a masked assailant came up to him demanding his money and his credit card. The assailant was armed with a knife. And of course, the bloke obliged, handing over everything he had. But then he returned to his vehicle nearby. Thought he was slightly in shock. The bloke was robbed. He collected himself in the vehicle and he proceeded to start driving away to head home. Probably to a police station, I imagine. But he drove past the exact ATM that he was just robbed at. He noticed the armed thief was still at the ATM, standing there, threatening to withdraw more money with the man's credit card that he stole. And for the ultimate plot twist, the man who was robbed, who was now driving a vehicle, veered the vehicle off the road straight up the side of the pavement and plowed it straight into the man that was standing at the ATM, the armed assailant. They warn you of credit card skimmer machines when you go and use an ATM. Those things they put over the top of the card reader. It sort of steals your information. I'm pretty sure this bloke's nostrils that were standing at the ATM became one of the credit card skimmers during the impact. Tate McRae, it's ZOOFM Breakfast Thursday morning. Bing Sting and Marshmallow, 20 minutes to 7. It's ZOOFM Breakfast for your Thursday morning. We're brought to you by McDonald's and Dubbo and Wellington. You can win free McCafe coffee for a whole year on the MyMaccas app. You can see the website for the full T&Cs. Another Dubbo show, Double Pass on offer right now, this moment, 20 minutes to 7. Time to do it, and you know the drill. I want to ask you on 6884 8499, what's the strangest request that you've ever received? A question maybe, someone asking you to run an errand, just anything. The strangest thing another human being has come up and asked you to do. A lady has asked the internet if she's actually herself stepped out of line after she was due to give birth and her mother-in-law asked to witness the delivery. The thing is, she doesn't exactly like her mother-in-law. She actually despises her, is probably the better word for it, and didn't want her ruining such a special moment, so she asked her husband to tell his mum, politely, that she couldn't attend. The husband was shocked, unsurprisingly, but here's where the absolute corker of a quote comes in. The woman, who was due to give birth, proposed a question to the husband. Would you let me invite my father to your next colonoscopy? That's only fair. I mean, I wasn't aware it was a family event, a colonoscopy, but that's obviously educated me this morning. I'll invite the in-laws next time, if it's such an event. But because of this, I want to ask you on 6884 8499, what's the strangest request you've ever received? Give me anything, any sort of question another human being has asked you that seems slightly off-kilter. Dubbo showed double pass on offer for the most cracking call right now. 6884 8499. What's the strangest request that you have ever gotten? You're on Zoom breakfast. Robin, what's going on this morning? I'm off to work, off to Kinnambul this morning for work. Oh, right. Wait, where do you live? How far are you driving? We're only in Dubbo. Oh, right. Okay. Well, that's half a trek. I congratulate you on that. What is the strangest request that you've ever received? I was having twins, and the anaesthetist asked if he could name my children. Oh! I mean, I don't think that's the role of hospital staff. Did you end up letting him do that, or...? No, we had names picked out, and he got to pick the name for the first child that came out. Oh, so he's still got to do some certain element behind it. Yes. Wow. Incredible. I mean, I understand hospital staff suggesting names, but asking him to actually pick them, that's kind of, you know, overstepping it a bit slightly, don't you think? I do. Brilliant. What did you name the twins? Lucas and Tyson. Oh, absolutely beautiful. Well, thank you so much for the call. The double pass is yours. Thank you. We've got heaps of double passes still to give away this morning, but if you miss out, just chuck Dubbo Show 123 ticks into Google. Otherwise, just keep listening. Another chance is going to come up, and if you'd like to see what's going on at the show this weekend, you can jump on their Facebook page or the website, DubboShow.org. We'll be there live tomorrow on the ground from the Dubbo Show here on ZooFM, going around, seeing the site, seeing the entertainment. You'll hear it all. Topic, ten minutes past seven, ZooFM breakfast for your Thursday morning. Top of 22 degrees today in Gilgandra. Currently 12.5 going to be sunny this morning. Possible showers out west this afternoon. The Dubbo Show, it's the biggest event in town this weekend, but literally perfect for every member of the family. Double pass on offer right now. We've got so many to give away this morning. We've just got to punch through these. 688-484-9999, the phone number. I want to ask you, what's gone wrong on a night out? And as I've said previously, you have to remember, I can't answer the phone while I'm still talking. I mean, I'm half all right at multitasking, but that's a whole other level. What has gone wrong on a night out? We all know someone, whether that be ourselves or someone else who's accidentally taken a step overboard on a night out and fallen over, broken something, or gotten into some form of mischief in some regard. A bloke in the UK has been arrested in the strangest of circumstances after having one too many to drink in a bar on a night out. He misheard other patrons within the venue and he got the impression they were making fun of him, unfortunately. So he began to initiate a bar fight, as you do, apparently. To the other patrons involved, they weren't too worried as the amount of drinks the instigator had had made him essentially harmless. He wasn't exactly going to throw a punch. The thing is, he then equipped himself with a bar stool for combat, a full-blown bar stool. So that's when they began to worry, thinking this could get quite serious, people could get injured. The whole thing immediately came to a close. The bloke who initiated the fight realised that once he'd picked up the bar stool, he'd managed to soil himself. Immediately. And the number two kind. Quite visibly. He was promptly arrested. It was not a pretty sight. That's why I want to ask you, on 68848499, what's gone wrong on a night out? At the best cork river story right now, snags, the Dubbo Show, double pass, come have a chat, 68848499, what's gone wrong when you've been out on a night? Maggie, what's going on this morning? Ah, just doing a bit of shopping to go home and get the kids up for school. I'm guessing you, like myself, wish you could probably still be in bed. Yeah, that's for sure, mate. That's 100% right. What's gone wrong on a night out? I fell down the stairs and broke me leg. Oh, wow, OK, that's a solid effort. What sort of fight of stairs was it? At the Amaroo. Oh, dear! I'm guessing you had a couple beforehand. Yes, I was a bit tipsy. Ah, brilliant, right. Obviously, I'm guessing you couldn't get yourself up once you'd gone and broken your leg at the bottom of the stairs. No. Lovely. Oh, that is a solid effort. You're not planning on falling over at the Dubbo Show, but what would you like to see there this weekend? Oh, all the rides for the kids. I'll take all my grandkids and that. Well, I've got to recommend, I'm pretty sure they've got dodgems there, and if they don't, I'm going to be disappointed, but I 100% recommend the dodgems. And the pavilion, we have all the art exhibitions and all. I love Downfield, Wales, and it's a... Oh, right, I didn't even know that was a thing. Oh. Oh, that's absolutely lovely. All right, maybe I'll check that out as well. Well, congratulations to Double Pass, it's yours. OK, thanks very much. The Double Passes, they do not stop this morning. We've got still more to come, but if you miss out, you can chuck Dubbo Show 1, 2, 3 ticks into Google, and if you'd like to see what's coming up at the show, you can head to their Facebook or their website, dubboshow.org. Do a fan for your Thursday morning, you're home to Dubbo's best music from the 80s to now. It's Keegan with you, top of 22 degrees in Wellington today, currently 13.5, going to be sunny this morning, possible rain on the way shortly. Come on, do your best. Furness and the Fundamentals are playing at the Dubbo Show this weekend. To give us the full wrap of what to expect, their front man, Furness, joins us. Cheers for coming on for a chat, mate. Thanks for having me, great to be here. 8.30pm this Friday, how's the set all coming together so far? Good, look, we might even experiment with some new stuff, you know, from our perspective. It's going to be great. I want to do a tribute this morning to the Dubbo Community Group. On this day, the 9th of May, we say goodbye to a beloved friend, Sir slash Madam Dubbo Community Group. A centrepiece of this community for millennia. A source of the most critical information for all, such as where someone has decided to let their dog poo and left it behind out of laziness. Sometimes actually with a graphic picture included of said dog poo. Other posts such as anonymously asking if anyone has received your package in the post by accident. But because you're anonymously posting, nobody can message you. Or even know what your name is on the package. So you never receive it. Other posts such as what sort of spider is this? And last but not least, the what are the sirens I'm hearing for posts with the inevitable comment of probably an emergency. You'll be dearly missed and you've left a hole in our daily content consumption. Rest in peace Dubbo Community Group Facebook page. And now it has birthed the Dubbo Community Events Facebook page. But please light a candle in solidarity. But not if you work in, you know, the gas industry and you're currently in the workplace. Probably a bad idea. Morgan Wallen, think about me. Quarter past eight. A little bit of fun. I will miss it however. It's your home of Dubbo's best music from the 80's to now. Keegan with you up next. Dubbo's show Double Passes. Coming up right after this. Morgan Wallen 20 past eight, 2FM Breakfast for your Thursday morning. The roundabout in front of Pet Barn here in Dubbo. Absolutely chockers this morning. Top of 22 degrees today in Trangie. Currently 15. Another Dubbo show Double Pass on offer right now. Someone's already ringing. I haven't even said the phone number but you know the drill. I want to ask you a question. 688484 double 9 is the phone number. 688484 double 9. What is something you did as a kid or a teenager that you wouldn't want your kid doing? You definitely wouldn't want them doing. Maybe you got up to mischief when you were younger and you used that as a learning lesson. IKEA it's the furniture chain. They've been forced to make a public statement against a trending practice of kids and teenagers going and conducting secret sleepovers within their stores. It's taken off as a trend online. People entering the IKEA stores during daylight hours, wandering around for a bit and then probably getting a bite to eat and then hiding in a vanity cabinet or a fridge until the store closes. Once all the staff leave they pop out, set up camp for the night making use of the ample available beds to sleep on, as I'm sure you can imagine. IKEA has put out an official statement saying we appreciate that people are interested in IKEA and want to create fun experiences. However the safety and security of our co-workers and customers is our highest priority and that's why we do not allow sleepovers in our stores. I think they're missing out on ample opportunity here to capitalise on this but that's my opinion. I have no business degrees behind me. I want to ask you this could go sideways. 688484 double 9 What's something you did as a kid or as a teenager that you wouldn't want your kid doing? What's a lesson that you've learned that you're definitely going to teach them? A double pass from the Dubbo show on offer for the most cracking call 688484 double 9 is the phone number. Patricia, what's going on this morning? Not much, just heading to work. Oh brilliant, what do you do for work? I work at Telstra, so I work at Access at the phone store. That's the one that's owned by Matt Dickerson, isn't it? It is. Well if I have any of the phones here go down, and hopefully they won't right now, I'll give you a ring. So I'm going to ask you, what's something you did as a kid or a teenager that you wouldn't want your kid doing? I got caught smoking a cigarette in primary school in the toilet. No, you know you shouldn't be doing that. It's bad. It's bad at any age. Oh my god! There's smoke alarms in toilets, aren't there? Well this is going back in like the 90s and stuff, so back then there probably wasn't any. I think they're now starting to install vape alarms in there as well, which doesn't surprise me. Well I'm guessing you've learned that as an opportunity to now tell people that in general, smoking is bad, I'm sure. Oh definitely, and I'm definitely not a smoker now, so I didn't like it. Oh right, okay, well that's great to hear. I'm going to give you the double pass, but I want to ask, if you're heading to the show this weekend, which I'm sure you're going to be now that I'm handing over the pass, what do you want to see? I would like to see the wood chopping, I'd like to also see the artwork and all the art display, the flowers and things like that, and the big Ferris wheel. 100%, well who do you take with you because it's a double pass? Well I'll be taking my kids and my husband as well. Brilliant, 100%, well congratulations, it's yours, and cheers for listening. Thank you. There's still more chances to grab a double pass to the Dubbo show this weekend here on Zoo FM, but if you miss out, Chuck Dubbo's show, one, two, three ticks into Google and you can check what's actually happening around the show, the show's scheduled by heading to their Facebook page or their website, Dubbo show dot org. You're on Zoo's breakfast. The Cranberries, it's Zoo FM, your home of Dubbo's best music from the 80s sound, top of 22 degrees today in Gilgandra, currently about 17.5. You're on Zoo's breakfast. Simon, the brains behind the Great Lego Building Challenge, which is coming to the show this weekend, joins us this morning. Cheers for coming on for a chat. Ah, hi Keegan, thanks for having me. What's the schedule looking like this weekend? You're going across the whole three days, aren't you? We are, yes. Three days of heats, six on each of the first two days, and then four heats on Saturday, culminating in the finals on Saturday afternoon, which is always great fun. First and second from each heat come back into the finals. With the actual workings of the challenge, I've seen some of the Hall of Fame photos of the challenge in the past, and it looks like people, they get somewhat absolute free reign over what they decide to build and what they use. Is that the premise to it? Ah, absolutely, for sure. We love the builders to use their own imagination. If we decided to theme the event, it would advantage some and disadvantage others, and we really love the imaginative side and some of the things that the builders come up with. It's just amazing. Oh, I can completely agree. When I was a kid, Lego was just one of those things where you can just take the pieces and build whatever you think would be great in front of you and then see the outcome. It's one of those things that doesn't exactly have limits to it, which is brilliant for an imagination. Absolutely. We use it in team building exercises as well. It's just great fun. I'm wondering, when it comes to the heats themselves, is it like a time trial when it comes to the amount of time they get to build something, or is it just once they're finished, they're finished? No, builders have 20 minutes to complete their model from a selection of $5,000 worth of Lego in the middle of the area. $5,000 worth of Lego, that is incredible. Is it like from some of the themed packs, or is it just a big collection of bricks you put there in a pile? No, it's a big collection of most pieces of the classic Lego, so there's lots of scope there to do what the kids want. Absolutely brilliant. Can anyone take part, or is it specific ages? It's specific age groups. We have junior heats and senior heats. The junior heats are between the ages of 3 to 7, and then the senior heats between the ages of 8 to 14. What might make some people's ears prick up is, are there any prizes on offer? Absolutely. First, second and third from each heat receive prizes, and then the finalists come back to compete with some great prizes. I think the first prize is around about $100 worth of Lego. Just to change the topic slightly actually, how long have you been running this challenge for? 36 years. Yes, you're well involved. Right, okay. Absolutely, we've been doing it for 36 years, and we've had over 130,000 contestants. Oh my God, those are some proper numbers. Any job that involves Lego is my idea of heaven, but it brings me to ask, what was the moment that made you decide this is exactly what you want to take across the country? I was a marketing manager of a shopping centre in my early 20s, and this was one of the promotions that we ran, and it was so much fun that when I left there we decided to take it on the road, and the rest is history, so to speak. Where are some of the places that you've gone so far? I mean, I say so far, I mean I'm sure there's a lot on the list, but what are some of the places that you've taken it so far? Anywhere between Cairns and Adelaide. Oh my God, right, okay. So Sydney, Melbourne, all the way up through Queensland, Townsville, Cairns, out west to Mount Isa, to Dubbo, places like that, yeah. Mate, it's a brilliant challenge for the kids, and cheers for running it this weekend, and cheers for coming on the show this morning. Thank you, and if you want more information, check out the Dubbo Show's website, they've got all the heat times there, and you can contact me on the phone number there to book the heat. Cheers, Simon, much appreciated. Thanks very much, you too. You're on Zoo's breaking. Jewel Leafer, ten minutes to nine, ZooFM Breakfast, your home of Dubbo's best music from the house, up at 22 degrees today in Dunedoo, about 14 at the moment, sunny this morning, we'll have a chance of showers this afternoon out west, and the weather for the weekend is looking like something else, hopefully it's just the forecast, and as they say, it's just a guess. Well, it's an educated guess, is what I should say instead. Alright, I'll put it to you right now, 6884 8499, I want to continue the chat that we had earlier, in order for you to grab a Dubbo Show double pass, what's something that you did as a kid or a teenager that you wouldn't want your kids doing, or at least you're definitely teaching them not to do. 6884 8499, grab yourself a double pass to the Dubbo Show this weekend, the biggest event in town, brilliant for the kids. All you've got to do is just answer me, what did you do as a kid or a teenager that you wouldn't want your kid doing now? Give me a ring. Dubbo's best music. Ben, what are you up to this morning? I just work, mate. Fair enough, mate. What would you do as a kid or a teenager that you definitely wouldn't want your kids doing right now? I rolled a car. You what, rolled a car? Yeah. Were you involved in an accident with another car, or did you just sort of speed off the side of the road? Nah, just out in the paddock, mate, on a farm as a young fella. Oh, right, so it wasn't even on a road or anything, you were just going around out on the farm. Yep. Were you doing, like, sort of decent speed, or was it just there was a bump and then the car was upside down? Doing the old proverbial circle work. Brilliant, mate, that's the way. I say that's the way, but of course, we wouldn't want to encourage anyone to do dangerous behaviour. That's absolutely brilliant, mate. What sort of car was it? A Torana. Oh, that's unfortunate. Yeah, it would have been worth a fortune now. Yep. Were you injured at all, or was it just a rollover and you dusted yourself off? Just rolled over and dusted off, mate. Absolutely brilliant. Well, the double pass is yours, mate. What are you keen to see this weekend at the show? A bit of everything, mate. It's there. The show's all good. Well, it's got absolutely everything, so I'm sure you're going to be well-occupied. Congratulations, mate. Cheers for listening. Thank you very much. There's still one more chance for you to grab a double pass to the Dubbo Show tomorrow morning on Zoo FM Breakfast. With Nat, he'll be filling in for me. I'll take over live at 10am.
