The individual discusses the importance of having a support system in career decisions, mentioning their girlfriend and industry friends as part of it. They highlight the significance of long-standing friendships and maintaining a balance between climbing and other hobbies like longboarding, basketball, and video games for relaxation. The conversation ends with mutual appreciation and shout-outs to Arc'teryx. What is it called when you have people that you can talk to? Support system. There you go. All right. We're good? All right. So you have a support system when you're having second thoughts about guiding in your career choice. So other than your mom, you know, we're going to be wrapping this up soon, but other than your mom, like, who is your support system now? Definitely my girlfriend, Kirsten. Got some really good homies that are also in the industry that are doing the same thing. We're all having the same thoughts. Like, they're guiding out west. That's like, shout out, Isaac, shout out, Nick. Definitely having, like, a good core of homies that I can, like, just reach out to and call. And then I've got, like, my hometown homies that I've grown up with. Like, I've known them for, like, it's crazy to think now, like, 20-something years. Right? Isn't that crazy? Like, one of my best friends I've known since I was six, and then my other one, it's, like, what's third grade? That's, like, eight, seven. Yeah, seven, eight, yeah, yeah, yeah, like that. So, yeah, like, 23 years. That's, isn't that crazy? Yeah, most of the homies, so being able to call someone, like, out of that crew. Yeah. Definitely goes a long way, like, definitely helps. Yeah. I find hanging out with people that aren't all in on climbing really helps sometimes, too. Because as much as I love all of my friends that climb, there's only so much climbing talk I can take. And I don't know if that's a hot take, but, you know, sometimes it's nice to just go back home and just see friends that, like, that you haven't seen in a couple of months and just, like, talk about how they're doing. A lot of my friends have kids now, so hanging out with those, you know, being the fun uncle. Yeah, I find having a balance is key. Yeah. But, and I think, sorry. I was going to say, I feel like it's hobbies, too, that aren't. Totally. Like, for me, it's, like, longboard and playing basketball. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, don't swim in. Video games. Video games. Dude. Like, yeah, definitely big Xbox fans. Oh, my God, yeah. Dude, what's your game? We'll get, I'll get your game. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, John, thanks for coming on, dude. I want to ask you a question that has absolutely nothing to do with climbing. Cool. What do you find is, when you need to relax, when you need to disconnect, what do you do? Those things. I go longboard. Yeah. I go play basketball, and then I play Xbox. Yeah. Those are, like, my three things. Like, I pretty much did all three of those things today. Yeah. I longboarded. Day in, off day? Yeah. Nice. Say it was an admin day, I had to go get my car. So, like, I longboarded. Yeah, quote, unquote, admin days. Yeah. Two, like, back day. So, I got, like, a two and a half mile skate in, and then you skated. You skated in Boston? Yeah. Dude, that's wild. That is wild. I think that's a great place to end it. Dude, I think that says everything about you. Like, in longboards in Boston. John, thanks for coming on, dude. You're our first guest. Good to say, I love you as a person, and I love what you're doing out there. Keep doing it. I do, Doug. Thank you for having me. Shout out to Arc'teryx. Hell, yeah. Shout out to Arc'teryx, Marcus Street, Arc'teryx, Boston, Newberry Street, and Arc'teryx, Chestnut Hill. Yes, sir. All right, everyone. Have fun out there. We'll see you later. I'm throwing up the mini horns. Oh, throwing up the mini horns. All right. Peace, dogs.
