Xenophon

Xenophon, who lived from around 430 to 354 BC, was a Greek writer, philosopher, soldier, and mercenary. He hailed from the deme Erchia of Athens and was also known as Xenophon of Athens. As a contemporary and admirer of Socrates, he wrote about the philosopher's teachings. In addition to preserving the sayings of Socrates, he wrote extensively about life in ancient Greece and the Persian Empire, as well as the history of his own time in the 4th century BC.
