Saranac Lakes Wild Forest

The 75,000-acre Saranac Lakes Wild Forest features many lakes, ponds, and rivers. The 144 water bodies range from small ponds entirely owned by the State to large lakes with a mix of State Land and private lands. The Saranac Lakes Wild Forest contains more than 80 miles of hiking trails. Many of the trails lead to remote lakes and ponds. (https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/114330.html)
